Awesome story line and great performances..Must watch !!
sorapallideepthi3 January 2019
'I am not a robot' is an awesome kdrama, a different story plot with perfect cast.Even though the drama is a fiction, it has soo realistic feelings. The lead actors are so perfect for their roles, they make you feel as if they are really those characters. Their chemistry is exceptional and it felt real. The secondary characters has equal importance as of leads.

It makes no sense why this drama has got low viewer ratings. This drama deserves much appreciation. All the actors performed well but the performance delivered by the lead actor deserves a special mention. Yoo Seung-ho is indeed a great actor. His acting is flawless, the way he enacted emotional scenes captures hearts.Fell in love with this guy after watching his performance.Loved it so much. Will definitely recommend to watch it !!

Good Enough
PennyReviews25 January 2018
Interesting story that contains a robot, but actually pulls it off. Maybe it's the cast and their great performances. Or the chemistry between the two main leads. Or maybe the theme that was interesting, entertaining and kind of touching with the leading man's story being a really heartwrecking one. The story in general is cute, though it does have it's chiche moments and some scenes were way too long. But all in all enjoyable.

Amazing chemistry
strawberrys_27 October 2019
I went into this drama knowing nothing and I think that was sort of the best way to get into this show? It was hilarious for the most part and the actors did an amazing job and had really great chemistry which made everything a lot more enjoyable to watch and experience.

The story does, of course, have it's slow parts but for the part it was hilarious, sad and awesome. The show is also very unique, I haven't really seen such a story-line being used in any media before and really enjoyed what they did with it.

Refreshing Rom-Com with Excellent Story
av-9930813 October 2018
This is not your typical K-Drama. The story is quite unique and refreshing - a pleasant departure from typical western and asian TV shows. The script is well written. The actors/actresses portrayed their characters well, especially the main leads. If you laugh and cry while watching, then you know the series is worth the watch. I neither read nor speak Korean, but the subtitles provided by Kocowa / Viki-Rakuten helped a lot to capture the flow and emotion of the episodes. A must-see K-drama. If you are new to K-drama, this is a good introduction to their rich collection of TV-shows and movies. This series in particular, has excellent production, cinematography and sound-mix - on-par or even better than many western TV shows.

Seungho made me cry

The emotional scenes made me cry. It was not really a unque story but it makes you anticipate what is next. I just think there is something lacking after the climax but I can't identify exactly what it is.

Unique and interesting plot makes this one watchable
chandranister24 November 2020
In terms of the sci-fi that this story weaves, the execution is pretty impressive. It's very easy to go wrong with a storyline that is helmed on a fictional ailment but the script makes it convincing. It's also a lot like the Hollywood film her, triggering the much-needed conversation on how important is AI is replacing humans. What falls through in this drama is the chemistry between the leads in the second half. The second half drags with the romance hitting a brake but nevertheless it's quite watchable.

Emotional and cute but also very funny
badea-bianca9327 June 2020
I am gonna give it a 10 even though it deserves a 9 because it was extremely predictable. However, I loved the feelings that the story and the characters transmitted. I literally laughed and cried my heart out on their good and sad moments. I did not want to watch it at first because it seemed very cheesy, but now I really do not regret it having spent the time on it. Highly recommend it and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did!

Okay, stop crying already
backnblack-0612320 May 2019
Its a decent series but at episode 9 got tired of this actor crying which he does in every damn series I've seen him in, why do Korean men cry so much, is that real.

Overrated
Hlebka14 June 2023
If you are over the age of 13, this is probably not the show for you. I selected "I am not a Robot" because of its popularity on this site. While I did get through the entire series (because I'm a masochist), I rage watched it, expecting it to improve. That's time I can never get back!

There are many of the standard K-drama tropes. The rich guy who is super smart but spoiled, self absorbed and socially awkward, and the poor girl who is contantly bullied and denigrated by the men in her life. We are also told over and over again that the female lead only has an IQ of 94 (never mind the flaws in using IQ tests, or that this would be within the range of normal people)...we get it...she's ordinary and a little bit simple. From the very first episode, he mistreated her in a way that made me not like him. If he wasn't really good looking, even the teeny bopper fan girls wouldn't be rooting for this guy.

Secondly, there's the plot itself. I like weird stuff, but this was too weird. First, you have to suspend disbelief that this supposed genius couldn't figure out that this "robot" was a real woman (I promise you, a caveman would have figured this sh** out by episode 2). It was so awkward watching him be attracted to what he essentially believed to be a really pretty appliance.

Finally, the pacing. If it had been written so that only for the first few episodes he thought she was a robot, then the reveal, leading to the development of a genuine romance between two real people, there would have been a chance that this could have been salvaged. Instead, we had to suffer through cringeworthy moments for 2/3 of the show, making it difficult (for me at least) to invest in the characters and their love story.

Now I've seen comments and reviews of other people who didn't like the secondary characters. I don't have an issue with the older guy/younger girl romance. I think the secondary characters were actually better to watch. They injected the realism, humour and drama and showed the most character growth.

To cut a long story short, watch something else!

I really enjoyed the performances in this series and really, I wasn't expecting to like the drama as much as I did! It's really quite meaningful and the leads have a wonderful chemistry! Yoo Seung-Ho delivered one of the most heartbreaking monologues ever, wow. It's a great series to watch, and worth it just to see! Now, can someone let me know where I can get that umbrella???

Not a masterpiece but still...
mlaralot19 January 2021
...I keep a special spot in my heart for heroes that live in dispair because they love someone against their best judgement... And, also, I discovered this actor in this drama. He's amazing. One of the best I've seen so far. Watch this series if you're in the mood for a tale-like story with a beautiful romance.

Very addictive rom-com/dramedy
lyntonadam14 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Phew, the first few episodes in particular are beautifully done so you absolutely have to keep watching till the end. The premise is intriguing yet it's the chemistry between the leads that is compelling ( yes, a truism regardless of the language ). Seung-Ho Yoo is goofily cute yet heartfelt as the recluse, while Soo-Bin Chae as the robot is SO adorable, you just really want the best for her. Both actors also handle the emotional stuff well ( & it's gruelling for the viewer when the drama and tears kick in ! ). Now, though I do love the show ( & desperately want to marry Ms Chae ), there are some gripes : the humour of the early eps tends to reduce somewhat, despite a plethora of opportunities right through. Most of the other characters could do with some personality ( the butler could be a football fan, or the 2 assistants to the robot scientist could fantasise about the "kissing"expert, who is underutilised anyway ); While the production values are solid, I'd add some visual oomph ( eg slo-mo, dissolves, ECU's, funky editing etc ). The final scene is, hmm, frustrating ! if you've been waiting 2 years for the love of your life to return to you, surely you'd be jumping into their arms & smothering them with kisses ? That said, there were regular examples of a scene or a line surprising me, which is always a good thing ( eg the relationship between the head scientist & his female assistant ). And finally, the elephant in the room : the S word. Apart from one extended kissing scene which should've been broken up with some humour, we have a fit young man ( despite the allergy ) who seems to have NO sexual interest in his gorgeous GF. Please ! Is all Korean TV so chaste and unrealistic ? And no, I'm not proposing a full-on HBO approach. It'd be so easy to be subtle and just SUGGEST things in a funny way ( "hey Mr Chairman, there seems to be a bulge in your pocket" ). So, memo to Korean Govt : sex is here to stay & is very enjoyable, as you seem to realise per the sexy babes in every 2nd K Pop video. With Hallyu in mind, the rest of the world will embrace KTV better if you inject a bit more realism into the TV content.

Warning: Spoilers
SOFT SPOILER

I really enjoyed the secondary romance for the 'clueless, but kind man' and 'knowledgeable woman'; precisely because he's not supposed to be the character anyone falls for. It's very cute.

Main romance was fine. The lead woman was fantastic and lead guy was good. They were not steamy, but still had good chemistry; even though I felt they could have revealed her secret earlier.

Cute story and interesting drama
hjalsayegh27 April 2019
The plot to this one is very cute and depends more on human emotions than Sci-fi which is probably for the best with this kind of thing. It can get a bit cliche and corny but the main cast pulls it off and it ends up as endearing.

The only reason I can't rate this higher is because they keep harping on the leading man's side of the story, near the end everyone is all but falling over themselves to be friends with him while he pushes them of a cliff. It gets annoying fast when things are one sided like that and if the actors weren't so good at selling it, it would probably have been unwatchable.

As is however it's a romantic, light sit with every single person on screen being likable. Snuggle up and break out the popcorn!

Delightful little rom-com with a few laughs and a few tears
kunagueroooooo25 June 2022
The story of a man who fell in love with a robot, who wasn't actually a robot. Sounds a bit daft but it isn't. Its a really nice show with a few good twists to keep you guessing. The lead actors are very attractive, she looks stunning with the long wig, and her "friend mode" is heartwarming to say the least.

Keep a few hankies by your side as a few tears will leak out occasionally.

The one thing that bugs me about all these K-dramas, is that every single rom-com has two village idiots/cheerleaders in them. This drama is no exception. Why oh why do they exist?

Ignoring the two idiots, this is a really nice 16 hour rom-com to while away the time. Give it a go, it can't hurt.

Definitely worth my time. Extremely underrated. Commendable acting of Yoo Seung Ho. Chae Soo Bin good too. But YSH stood out because of the role he was given was diverse.

Would be adorable if not for the abusive relationship
alicebeattie-0049416 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm in two minds about this show. On the one hand, both lead actors are great and their chemistry is really good. On the other, their relationship is borderline abusive. I know it's not exactly uncommon for k-dramas to romanticise traits that in real life would be huge red flags, but this was way over the top. Some of the things the male lead does that set off alarm bells for me are:

* Deciding what the female lead wears * Saying that he owns her * Insisting that she calls him master * Telling her she needs to be scolded * Ignoring her * Using her so he can spend time with another woman

I know that he believes she's a robot at this point and doesn't have feelings or rights, but this just felt very yikes. The second male lead is just as bad.

All that aside, I did genuinely enjoy this show. I just wish it was less creepy.

Just unbelievable
geewhiz463 October 2022
I have only watched a few episodes and I will not be watching any more.

The idea that a man would not recognise a human female when she is lying on top of him is beyond belief. Human females smell of various things - shampoo - perfume - skin - body odour - they all have a unique fragrance.

The idea that when she had diarrhoea because of a curry that the smell would not linger for a long time is preposterous. Also, the way she walks - no android has the fluidity of a human - she makes big eyes - her pupils dart from side to side - how does a robot do that? She speaks in a human way - she shows emotion - her face is never expressionless. It's a silly premise with a poor actress who simply doesn't pull it off.

Happy and sad at the same time
mlongfield-001538 April 2021
Have you ever watched a series that you didn't want to end?, because I just have. It's funny ,it,s sad but most of all it's a gem of Korean cinema, so much that even at work I kept looking forwards to getting home to carry on watching it. If America tried to make this they would absolutely destroy it, so let's leave the true love stories to those people who do them best. That kind you South Korea for a truly amazing experience.
