Here we see beginnings of discovery that Kyber crystals are being used to create a super weapon for the Empire (we know it is the Death Star whereas the characters are unaware of this).

I like that plot development and the story of Saw fighting the Empire a different way with Ezra torn between following Saw and sticking with the Phoenix Squadron's more principled approach.

A very solid episode.

My rating: 8/10.

In the Name of the Rebellion: Part II

Definitely an improvement over the last episode in regards to tone, this was mostly focused on a private operation led by Saw Gerrera. I felt like some of those old infiltration flicks that I've always enjoyed, and I think that the characters were greatly suited for an operation like this. I do think that the rescue aspect of the film, as well as where that subplot ended up was a bit weird and unnecessary, however it did give Chopper some great moments of heroism that he didn't have in the first part. Again, Saw is someone who stays true to the character that we know from both of his appearances outside of "Rebels," and his actions seems like they were motivated by a love for the rebellion and deep hatred and loathing for the Empire, so that's good. The action sequences were very creative, and especially the scene with the smoke grenades was creative and the way the animation has developed from the first season is truly remarkable. This was a great episode and it does offer a great deal of insight into what's coming, as well as teasing that the end might be near.

Part 2

I liked this even more than the previous episode.

Saw is a pretty good character. I was not expecting this to essentially lead right on to Rogue One. Well, that's probably still a few years down the road, the references and hints are very evident. I liked that and I liked Saw and the difference she ends up having with Sabine and Ezra. It made for some great tension and surprises.

I must also add that this is where I'm starting to notice even better animation than the previous seasons. I never read a problem with it, once season 2 came full circle, everything started feeling like Star Wars. But it was especially good here, like the smoke bomb scene.

This episode was really well acted and directed and animated. Rebels S4 is off to a great start.
