I'm so sorry Eliza

Warning: Spoilers
This movie reminds me of an AU clexa fanfic that I read once when I was 15. They even got clarkes hair style right. Just switched a view gender roles and names of characters and I wouldn't have noticed the difference. It was overall pretty cringy. I just hope the actors had fun and that this doesn't inhibit them from getting actually good roles with good writing. The low budget really shows only in the writing. No one says any of these funny tag lines. I wasn't laughing out of enjoyment, but embarrassment. For the cast. The accents were not funny (sven). Stereotyped a black man as a drug dealer and also attempted murderer. (Not a good look). And overall there was a lot of telling not showing in this movie. All in all I'd say this is a millennial cringe low budget movie.

A waste of time

After watching 30 minutes of "It Only Takes a Night" I knew already that I am probably going to hate it, because I was bored, fed up and actually a bit furious (but actually ended up finishing the film, because I wanted to see where it was going). What angered me the most was the awful script and cringey delivering of the lines by the actors - combination of these two elements was really the downfall of this picture. Although marketed as a comedy I don't think I have laughed once during this film - the jokes are stupid, childish and extremely awkward. I must also mention the whole plot was about nothing and the ending was just completely ridiculous. Even though the runtime is only 93 minutes, watching it felt like eternity. I definitely don't recommend this film.

A highly entertaining indie rom-com

I was privileged to catch this indie rom-com at a premiere screening. I have to say it was very entertaining.

Shot on a low budget, the production makes great use of local surrounds as Perth, Western Australia stands in for a London setting. The crew have poured their blood and sweat into this production, which is very evident in the finished product.

The screenplay is engaging and often funny. There's a good balance between drama and humour. The cast is excellent and work very well together in this tightly paced 90 minute feature.

I'm keen to see what else this production house (A Touch of Madness Studios) brings to audiences next.

Will be one of my go-to films for a LONG time

For me, this film has everything - quirky humour, laugh-out-loud moments, truly unexpected events and a group of people it's very easy to feel part of.

It's rare to find something these days in the romcom genre which doesn't follow a set pattern, but this truly doesn't; and it kept me guessing - and entertained - right up to the end. This is unusual as my attention span is pretty short!

The best thing about it? It feels real. Nothing is 'held back' for the sake of how it looks, yet all the boxes one has to tick today are there naturally. The worst thing about it? It had to end and there isn't a sequel!
