"Point Three Percent" (#1.5)
aaronredis12 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
"Point Three Percent" was easily the best episode of "The Good Doctor" yet! I truly loved it.

Shaun meets his brother's doppelganger, Evan. He looks exactly like Steve! Dr. Glassman is caught off guard by Evan's eerily familiar appearance when he spots him in the E.R. Shaun is rattled by the news that that, not only does Evan have cancer and his parents are hiding it from him, he has an endearing personality incredibly similar to Steve's. Aside from the memories, Shaun still has so much of Steve left (pictures, material items). It was sure to be a shock when he spotted Evan, but he quickly bonded with him given his circumstances.

I have remained neutral on Jared but I am starting to take a liking to his character. Not by much, though. It was nice to finally learn something about him, though.

Shaun is learning sarcasm and is slowly becoming more and more independent and well-adjusted. I am really admiring all the progress he is making. He is becoming more socially capable and knowledgeable and therefore less alienated.

I seriously teared up when Shaun thanked Evan for letting him read the final page of "To Kill A Mockingbird" to him. This was particularly special since it was the book Shaun gave his brother for his birthday. When Evan remarked about the lack of a spoiler alert, though, I definitely chuckled. "The Good Doctor" is becoming incredibly well at balancing the heart-tugging moments and the light-hearted ones. I love it! :o)

Highmore continues to strongly and powerfully portray Shaun's character. At this rate, his is deserving of at least some sort of a nomination.

Again, "Point Three Percent" was a fantastic episode. I give it a 9.2/10. I hope we see more like this!

Loved everything about it!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was PERFECT. Everything. Just perfect. This show keeps getting better and better. I loved that we got to see Shaun's in-life look alike. I got so saddened for Shaun. Poor thing! He cannot escape his brother. I can't imagine what that must be like for him. It must have first been weird but then oddly comforting, but more than anything, sad because he found out that Shaun's look alike has cancer and his parents are hiding it. You know, I might even say this is the best episode of all t.v. shows. It really was that good. Just turn it on and enjoy!

How to mend
hatemalshimy28 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This episode reminded me with reading Iman Mersal's book "how to mend" it's for how Shaun reacts to his brother doppelganger and being caught by his subconcious emotions for a trial to prove that the boy won't die. This with the other side of the story for a patient who also happened to be in a trial to mend. Losing his love and also not having his kid beside him with the thought that he didn't like "the work" what is shown later that he just felt "he can't run in his shoes" .. thats great really.. one more good episode

S1.E5 - Cancer Sucks [9/10]
panagiotis199323 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E5) My Live Reaction / Review for The Good Doctor Season 1 Episode 5 ''Point Three Percent''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. This kid looks exactly like Shaun's brother. What the hell? This little boy has cancer? That's so unfair, it sucks. Wait, so its not cancer? Is Shaun right? The parents are super weird, Shaun tells them that there is a chance that their son might not have cancer and they treat him like a criminal. The subplot with this father and son is a bit uninteresting. So Shaun was wrong about the kid's cancer, that sucks. Overall this episode was good and I enjoyed it. My rating is 9/10.

I took the teleportation device!

I'll be honest that I never saw Freddie Highmore in his previous series as Norman Bates. This series casts him as Shaun Murphy, a savant gifted autistic doctor, at fictional St Bonaventure Hospital in San Jose, California. The series is shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I caught this episode because Michael Muhney played the boy's father. The series is always a work in progress. Highmore deserves an Emmy for playing this role. He plays him effortlessly and likable. Richard Schiff is also good as a mentor doctor. There are flashbacks to Shaun's childhood with his brother, Steve. His brother was someone who understood and loved Shaun unconditionally. Their father was abusive especially towards Shaun and his autism. The abusive father doesn't understand his autistic son. He just wants Shaun to be normal like other kids.
