Look I like this show a lot, but

It's a small thing really, but an important detail overlooked. At the beginning of the episode the neighbor asked for triple a batteries for her controller because she was in the middle of Uncharted. It could be some kind of clever ice breaking "get to know you" type thing, but it rubs me the wrong way. If she was playing Uncharted she wouldn't need batteries because Uncharted is a PlayStation exclusive and PlayStation controllers are chargeable. X-box controllers are not. So she wasn't either playing Uncharted, or she didn't need the batteries. Which is it.

"Oliver" (#1.3)

Warning: Spoilers
By this point, it is clear that the best, most original piece of "The Good Doctor" is Shaun. There is so much to be said for his character . . . but the others? Not so much. I am waiting for something special from just someone other than Shaun!

"Oliver" was likely the least compelling episode of "The Good Doctor" yet, but it still offers some good drama and brings some good stuff to the table.

I enjoyed how Claire fought to figure out a way in with Shaun. She was concerned for him, and she seems to look out for him rather often. I love that. The best part of this correspondence is when Claire cracked the code: Shaun doesn't like questions. Here is how it happened:

---

Dr. Claire Browne : (improvising a way to cool down a donor organ) Why did you answer me the last time, but not before? Was it because I was angry? Was it random? Why can't you answer my questions? This better work. Dr. Shaun Murphy : It will work. Dr. Claire Browne : (realization dawns on her) You answer when I don't ask. You don't like questions. Dr. Shaun Murphy : I don't.

---

This was great because, now that Claire knows something about Shaun that she didn't know before, she can continue to get to know him, unravel his quirks, and possibly develop a friendship with him.

Another thing that I did enjoy about this episode is that it acknowledged that doctors are not gods. What happens, happens, and not everyone can be in control. Miracles don't happen everyday, although it can sometimes feel like they do when watching medical dramas. In "Oliver," I loved seeing a team of doctors taking the good with the bad and not unrealistically ignore rules or change them to suit one's own convenience (see "Grey's Anatomy"). I like how "The Good Doctor" is acknowledging that.

Despite the centrality of the Shaun-Claire story, the race to the hospital with a donated organ felt a little commonplace. I hate to say it, but it was a but boring. The only thing that I truly enjoyed about it was how Shaun and Claire finally had a breakthrough.

I give "Oliver" a 7.6/10. Again, the best part was the Shaun-Claire "friendship," but their medical case was a little trite. I did, however, appreciate the story of Chuck, who had one celebratory drink to celebrate his daughter's graduation but managed to ruin his progress on the donor's list. I must admit I felt bad for him.

S1.E3 - Beautiful Episode [9/10]

Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E3) My Live Reaction / Review for The Good Doctor Season 1 Episode 3 ''Oliver''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. I like the flashbacks. It shows more information about Shaun and his past. I didn't know that drinking one glass of champagne means that you cant get a transplant. Chuck wont get the transplant? That's so sad. Does that mean that he only have a few months to live? These rules they have about getting a transplant are nuts. Shaun asked that girl to get his batteries back? Haha that's so funny to me for some reason. Dr. Glassman is such a good guy, I like him. Overall this episode was good and I enjoyed it. My rating is 9/10.
