Being back the original hosts!

First off I'll say that I've never seen the British version, so I'm not comparing it to that one. As far as the hosts go.... The first 2 seasons were pretty good. I enjoyed the hosts much better than the 3rd season. The new hosts are EXTREMELY unfunny, even though they're trying really hard. They're trying to force people to laugh, and fail miserably at it. The first 2 seasons seemed very casual and unscripted, even though I'm sure it was. As for the show itself, I enjoy the concept. I like that some of the instructions are left out of the recipes, so every contestant can make it just a bit different than everyone else. I found it really touching when the contestants help each other. They truly don't want anyone to be sent home. Overall it's a really good show, but the 3rd season hosts are ruining it. I don't know if the budget had to be slashed and they couldn't afford Dan Levi anymore, but Carolyn Taylor was the worst possible choice. She's not a funny person in the least. The fact that she's best known for being a creator of Baroness Von Sketch Show proves it. If the producers of the Canadian Baking Show had checked IMDb, they would've known right away not to use her. Aurora Brown isn't much better either. At least she isn't anywhere near as annoying as Carolyn is though. My advice to the producers is this - change the hosts ASAP!

Season 1&2 were great

What happened to the show??? I absolutely loved season 1 & 2, and am just starting season 3. I already hate the new hosts. So much. Dan and Julia were so amazing together and they added something to the show. I kind of just want to fast forward through to the end of each bake just so I can see the results, but don't have to listen to/hear/watch the hosts. I don't mind the new judge but I just don't know what the producers were thinking. Either bring back Dan and Julia or find better hosts for next season! PLEASE!!!

Loved this show, binge-watched UNTIL season 3.

I couldn't even finish the 3rd season, the hosts are SO forced and cringe. Love the show itself but the hosts are so unfunny and do NOT fit into this role. I'm sure they may fit well for other shows - but the jokes and sketches don't work here.

Love, love, love this show but bring back Dan and Julia!! PLEASE!!!!

This is such a lovely show, full of great contestants, judges and hosts... that is, until season 3. The hosts were just awful. They made it all about them showing off and trying to be funny - they were not funny! At all!! Not surprising because their so called comedy show Baroness Von Sketch just terrible!!

I saw a trailer for season 4 and noticed they changed the hosts. Hope they are better than the last two. Unfortunately for them, Dan and Julia set the bar high.... Time will tell I guess. Keeping my fingers crossed.

UPDATE: I really enjoyed Season 4. The new hosts are great. They are not Dan and Julia, but I do like them and they are a VAST improvement on the Season 3 hosts. Overall Season 4 was really good. As usual the judges were awesome and the contestants were talented, lovely, down to earth people that had me rooting for them! Loved that they helped each other and thought the winner was really deserving of the title (I shan't say who it is as I hate spoilers!!).

Now on Season 5 and I love it. The hosts have really settled in and are just great. This is such an awesome wonderful show in the midst of so much hate and divisiveness. It is like a calming balm and when you watch it you just know it is going to be exactly as expected. Full of talented, sweet lovely people making a wonderfully entertaining show. Well done CBC. Next to Heartland and Murdoch this is my fav!

Julia, Dan and Rochelle please come back!

I loved the first 2 seasons. I started to watch the 3rd season and honestly not sure if I will finish it...the new hosts are sooooo annoying, overbearing.....just terrible.

I love this show and the judges are wonderful but these new hosts in season three are just so forced and overbearing. I'm sure they're lovely people but on the show whenever they pop up it just takes away from the enjoyment of it. I wish they had kept the two from seasons 1 & 2 :(

I would have given this 10/10 if Rochelle didn't hit her teeth on forks OVER AND OVER. It makes me shiver in horror. I love the show otherwise. Dan is awesome as usual.

My biggest pet peeve with the new hosts is how they scream at the beginning of every challenge is cringe worthy.

Love the show, i feel like im one of the contestants. I started watching season 4 then binge watched Season 123. Julia and Dan are both awesome. The judges are fair i see no bias from them.

Yes, the judges are certainly less harsh than the British original. This is mostly a problem in season one - their criticism becomes harsher and more constructive as they find their stride. When compared to the original show, the editing and casting choices are obviously not as good. If this was an original show being judged on its own merits, and not being compared to the much higher budget Great British Bake Off, it'd stand high above other Canadian attempts at this formula.

Bring back Julia, Dan and Rochelle.

These new hosts are absolutely horrible. Not a fan of the new judge either. Rochelle and Bruno were great together. If things are not broken don't fix them. Loved season 1 and 2. Season 3 is absolutely brutal.

Contestants make the show worthwhile

We enjoyed season 1, 2 and 4, meeting contestants from across the country, and bring impressed by the creations they bake. The hosts in season 3 are so cringe-y though, and season 4 isn't much better. I miss Dan Levy!

My children and I enjoyed seasons 1 and 2 - especially with the charismatic, funny, entertaining ensemble of Julia-Dan-Rochelle-Bruno. After 2 minutes into the show, my children were very disappointed and have decided not to watch season 3. I'm sure the new hosts and judge are great people, but they have taken away the joyful and enjoyable spirit of seasons 1 and 2. It's no longer a delight to watch the show, but I will continue to watch for the love of baking, to support the contestants and watch their passion of baking.

PLEASE! PLEASE! BRING BACK JULIA, DAN AND ROCHELLE!

Best of the Bunch

I watch every version of the Great British Bake Off I can find and this version is the best of all. Good, decent quality presenters, competent judges and bakers with some mad skills. These folks could hold their own anywhere. Bravo to them.

Uneven

This show has/had some gems: Bruno Feldeisen, Dan Levy, and Kyla Kennaley in particular. But there are some real duds, and the 2021 season is by far the worst yet. The program is sooooooo desperate to be woke/snowflake/inclusive that the host and contestant casting choices have become ironic stereotypes. The hosts lack chemistry and have cartoonish personalities, without realism or spontaneity. The contestant have obviously been picked because they check the right boxes from the Politically Correct playbook. The whole thing now seems desperate. The producers need to stop casting for WHAT people are, and get back to casting for WHO they are. If they also check boxes, fine, but that alone doesn't make good TV.

Loved first 2 seasons...Bruno only good thing in season 3.

I loved the first 2 seasons of this show. This show was classy as compared to other shows where judges are rude and contestants overly excited. Bruno had a personality of a master chef, his words were measured. Someone has forced him to be overly friendly in the third season..You've taken his depth away ! The new hosts are unwatchable. I miss Dan Levy. Rochelle's replacement speaks too much. Why did the producers make these changes? Bring back the old hosts. Why fix something that was great to begin with?

The first 2 seasons were great, was addicted to watching. This 3rd, I struggled thru the first two episodes. I don't like the new judge, everything seems, forced with her. Can't stand the narration. Won't finish the third season.

A Nice Relaxing Watch

In my humblest opinion, GBBO has a faultless recipe production-wise. And this is a fairly decent recreation of that for it manages to capture the magical atmosphere in that white tent, kindred spirits drawn together by their passions for baking.

Judges are fine but they seem a bit bland and less eloquent compared to their British counterparts. As for the hosts, I actually prefer Dan and Julia's style, which is inoffensive yet not boring at all. Lastly, I love all the contestants and always self-actualize as one of them while watching hahahaha.

Still a pretty decent show, shame about the host's...

I loved the first two seasons! The host's and cast were great (I didn't expect to like Dan, but really did) and then season 3 happened. The host's are horrible, not just bad... awful. If the editor's had just cut them out completely and put in more of the contestants cooking it would have been an order of magnitude better.

It's like a case study in bad casting. They had an amazing show, then they changed one small detail and the entire show went downhill. Somehow the contestants even seem less interesting because I'm distracted by the two host's.

I like the premise and hope it gets better, but they need to get better hosts who understand that the focus of the show is the actual baking (not trying to restart their failed careers).

Casting needs to be sent to the abyss

Leave it to CBC to take a good show and ruin it with horrible casting. Im not sure if the casting is in charge of the contestants too, but its clear they pick certain types before bringing talented bakers on the show. The hosts of this show have to be the worst hosts in all of television? Good god its bad. A couple of teenage kids winging it would make better hosts.

Format and contestants are fine but the hosts in seasons 4 & 5 are the worst making it barely watchable. Who are they? They have no real interest in baking and present like the audience are kindergarten.

I really love the British version of this show and was disappointed when they had a change of hosts and judges, but it's still good. The Canadian version however, totally sucks. The show is so boring now. The hosts are terrible (the red head is super annoying, and the other had zero personality), neither of them are funny or entertaining, and the bakers are all pretty bland in personality as well. Not to mention that there's zero chemistry between Bruno and the other judge. As a trilingual Canadian, their mispronunciation of French (our second language) words drives me up a wall!!! They sound like Americans.

Change the casting. The male judge and the 2 hosts are absolutely terrible. The female judge is likeable and personable. Whoever does the casting needs to go as well! I probably watch 1/3 and fast forward the other 2/3's. Canadian version is the worst out of all the countries.
