- It is imperative, that boys are mentored by men who can inspire them to their greatness. In today's climate, we need men with good self-esteem, who are proud, yet compassionate, with morals and ethics, who can stand up to adversity, breaking chains of the past, while moving forward to create new, inspiring and motivating legacies. Roman is a movie that addresses such issues while keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. In the movie, a suspenseful past infiltrates decisions that affect Roman's future. We intend to stir the emotions of the audience by portraying real life situations that the audience can identify with. We hope to inspire discussion with prospective mentors of at-risk teens especially, although a broader audience will still recognize the moral of the story and feel encouraged. The movie begins with Roman reluctantly meeting with the pastor of his church. The pastor is trying to appeal to Roman, to "stop obsessing over that woman", and get back involved in a program for youth that he helped create. Roman is annoyed with the premise of the meeting and tells the pastor that he is not his father, and he didn't listen to him either. After hearing what the pastor had to say, he takes the picture of his girlfriend from the pastor that was given to him by his wife, and leaves. Roman arrives at his house where his wife still lives, to pick up more of his belongings since he has moved in with his girlfriend. She tried to lie and say she hadn't spoken to the pastor about their failing marriage, but Roman produces the picture of his girlfriend that his wife found and she realizes she is busted. Seeing how mad Roman is as he grabs his clothes, his wife Ethel tries to sweet-talk him into reconsidering their marriage, and she tries kissing him as they fall onto their bed. Roman has a weak moment before he stops, gets up, and leaves. All the while, Roman is experiencing headaches and having visions of a large dark figure of a man who appears in his periphery. As he drives he becomes drowsy and in a moment of daze, he sees the large dark figure in the path he is driving and he screeches to a stop, jumps out the car and looks around, seeing nothing. Signs of evilness appear, unbeknownst to Roman as he returns to his car and heads to his girlfriend, Neesha's house. Neesha is happy to see him and asked how the meeting with the pastor went. Roman doesn't want to discuss it. Neesha prods a little more, before deciding to leave it alone and "enjoy the ride" as Roman stated in response to keeping the fact that he has moved in with her, a secret. Neesha wants Roman to get divorced so that they can be more open about their relationship, and he lets her know he will be taking care of it. Later, Roman works on his family tree which is a hobby of his, and then drifts off to sleep. Neesha quietly comes in and peeks at the laptop screen to see what he is working on. She sees his cell phone on the arm of the recliner and reaches for it but he wakes up and catches her. She has on a negligee and moves his laptop to sit on his lap and gives him a gift of a cross pendant to wear around his neck like hers. As they kiss and dream about their future, Roman is startled by a noise. They get up and he looks outside and sees a large dark figure pacing in the yard. Neesha doesn't see it. She tells Roman he's just tired, and she pulls him away and they go to their room to make love. The next day, we see Roman's manager and a supervisor discussing him before he comes into the office. His boss has asked the supervisor to speak to him about his work performance, and she doesn't want to because she has feelings for Roman which angers the manager. He scolds her about it and then makes an inference to her that suggests jealousy. Roman comes in, sits at his desk and his boss enters and starts off sounding concerned, suggesting that Roman might need some time off. Roman refused that idea stating that he didn't want to lose his job. His boss became stern and tells him he has two weeks to get himself together. Roman has a lot on his mind, knowing he needs to file the divorce papers and leaves the office for lunch to do that. His supervisor catches up to him outside and conveys her feelings, subtly toward him as he walks off. After meeting with his lawyer, Roman goes to a restaurant for lunch. One of the teens that he mentors named Perdi, sees him and comes into the restaurant to speak and invite Roman to his football game. Roman tells him he will be there. Soon after Perdi leaves, in comes Deacon Bernard who had just purchased a take-out meal. He is surprised to see Roman there and takes a seat to let him know that there has been some talk about him at the church. Roman is angered by that and basically says they need to mind their business. Deacon Bernard warns Roman that Neesha is not the woman he thinks she is, and Roman is shocked and mad about that. Roman gets home from work and thinking about what Deacon Bernard said, he starts searching on the internet for information about Neesha. He questions her at dinner about hiding something from him, which she denies. Later, while she's in their bedroom, Roman starts going through her things, but she calls and he quickly rushes to the couch and pretends to be asleep when Neesha comes to check on him. He begins to toss and turn in a nightmare that includes his father revealed as the large, dark figure and suddenly, Neesha appears in the dream and they laugh at him. The nightmare turns violent, and he is awakened by Neesha causing him to back away from her. Roman found an opportunity to search through Neesha's things, including the box he saw in his dream. In it, he finds a marriage certificate. He is shocked, sad, and angry at finding out that while she was pushing him to get divorced, she was still married. The next day, Roman confronts Neesha with the marriage certificate and she tries to explain that she planned to ask him to help her get her divorce once he got his done. Roman, feeling betrayed decides to leave the relationship and return home where he thinks Ethel will be waiting for him. He enters his house and finds a note from Ethel, letting him know that she has moved on and will sign the divorce papers. The next day, Roman catches up with Perdi at the park intending to insert himself back into his life as a mentor. Perdi is still angry and Roman realizes that he has gotten mixed up with a gang. One of the gang members tell's Perdi the leader wants to talk to him. Perdi is told to kneel to be chastised for not having the money he was expected to turn over. Roman steps in and offers to pay it, but the thug leader isn't having it. A fight ensues and a scenario begins where Roman is down, and then struck by Perdi, killing him. Roman's mind replays the words from Pastor Stiles and it strengthens him to take control of the situation. He manages to pay Perdi's debt, and get him away from the gang. Perdi is grateful and reconnected with his mentor.
