Raja The Great: A festive commercial entertainer!
Achyut_Prashast_Singh21 January 2018
Movie: Raja The Great (UA): Action/Masala - Telugu

Positives:

  • Ravi Teja is the soul of the film. His strong performance and screen presence proves why he is called mass maharaja.
  • The fight sequences are a delight to watch as they are very well executed and look visually stunning, especially the interval fight and the climax fight.
  • The songs are really good and melodious.
  • The visual appeal of the film in the first half is very good.
  • The entire pre-interval episode and the interval blockade are both excellent and simply the best part of the film.

Negatives:

  • The comedy does work in parts, but it simply falls flat in the first half and even in the second half at times.
  • The editing could've been better as the film could've been easily shorter.
  • The placement of songs in the second half is not very convincing, though the songs being good can make you ignore this to some extent.

Repeat value: Yes (especially for the fights)

RAJA THE GREAT might not be a perfect film, but it's a likable entertainer given the fact that it has plenty of mass elements to keep even an average viewer entertained. I just ended up watching it on Prime Video since its concept and promos impressed me. So if you're looking for 2 and a half hours fun, go and watch it!

Apt Movie For Ravi Teja With Water thin StoryLine
krishtinku20 October 2017
Raja The Great Is Another Movie Created Buzz Because Protagonist Appeared As A Blind Person. Lets See How Is The Movie. Lucky Is Daughter Of A Police Officer Prakash Who Got Killed By a Rowdy Devaraj. And Now He Is On To Kill Lucky. On The Otherside Raja Aka Raja The Great Is A Blind Person With Powerful Senses. His Mother Gives Him A Mission To Save Lucky. Then He Is On Mission To Save Lucky.

Ravi Teja As Raja Is An Apt Title An Apt Character For Him. There Is Nothing Novelty In His Character But He Pulled His Character With Ease. This Is His Best Performance Till Date. Mehreen As Lucky Is Really Cute. But She Has To Improve Her Histrionics. Vivan Bhatena Is Just OK As Antagonist Due To Poorly Written Character. Rest Of All Character Are Apt And Good.

All The Technicians Are Good Especially Action Master. Actions Comes Out Well. Music By Sai Karthik Is Below Par. Couple Of Songs Are Good On Screen.

Director Anil RaviPudi Again Comes Up With Routine Story But Makes It Enjoyable With Its Pace And Comedy. In Second Half, Gunna Gunna Mamidi Episode Really Hilarious.

WHAT IS GOOD: i) Ravi Teja ii) Comedy iii) Entertainment

WHAT IS BAD: i) Routine story-line

Overall Movie: "Quite Impressive With Routine Thin Storyline".

Raja the Great is a typical commercial film with same old screenplay even if the protagonist is blind.A One Time Watch .
shobanchittuprolu20 October 2017
Raja the Great (2017): Ravi Teja returning to silver screen after a gap of two years and playing the part of a blind person has created enough hype around "Raja The Great". Added to this, the film is directed by Anil Ravipudi who has given two hits earlier and is produced by Dil Raju. Expectedly "Raja The Great" has hit the screens amidst great buzz.So how is the movie? Plot: Raja (Ravi Teja) is a visually challenged man whose mother (a police constable played by Radhika) aims to make him a cop. Lucky (Mehreen Pirzada) loses her cop father (Prakash Raj) and is the target of the local gangster Devaraju (Vivan Bhatena). Raja gets an opportunity to be an undercover agent to save Lucky. Rest of the story is all about how Raja inspires Lucky and realises dream of his mother in the process.

My Review: During the promos before the film starts, there would be a statutory warning "Please Switch off the Mobiles". For these kind of movies another "Please Switch off your Brains" needed to be added.

This is the third film by director Anil Ravipudi, whose earlier two films were complete masala potboilers. This film also is a commercial entertainer with all the cinematic ingredients. Despite the protagonist being blind, he dances, fights and spouts massy dialogues. The hero has to bash up all goons, dress well, walk firmly, and indulge in all kinds of illogical acts even though he is born blind Raja the Great is an ordinary and predictable story, complete with action, dialogues and songs. There are several illogical and cinematic scenes, such as the blind protagonist traveling 25 km by bus, and on top of a train, to catch the villains. The other illogical thing is that the senior police officer agrees to take a visually-impaired person into his team when he offers him sweets! Despite of all this illogical mess, the comedy is good in parts. There are few scenes which are hilarious and saving grace of the movie.Rest of them are loud and cheesy.

When it comes to performances, it is Ravi Teja all the way. He is energetic and lively and gives a believable performance as a visually-impaired person. You can see the typical Ravi Teja kind of performance in his body language and the entertaining massy dialogues. Radhika does a decent job as his mother.Ravi Teja's son master Mahadhan appears in the childhood portions of Ravi Teja. He is promising. The so-called "Uu Uu...it is laughing time" mannerism is also irritating.

Music is so bad and BGM is mashup of all the theme musics of several famous films.

So,Raja the Great is a typical commercial film with same old screenplay even if the protagonist is blind.A One Time Watch .

My Rating 5.75/10

This movie just doesn't make any sense
Misss2511 July 2022
I don't know who watches this kind of movie. Maybe the people who doesn't look for logics and stories. Even the comedic scenes were so awful and I have nothing to say about the actions scenes. How can a blind person do all these -_-

I wasted my time watching this movie, this movie is full of overacting and there is no sense of logic, this movie will embarrass those who are movie lovers and are fond of watching bollywood, south indian, hollywood or webseries, This movie is for those people who watch movies occasionally.

Its popcorn comedy movie with over exteneded fight scenes
rohitreviews2 April 2019
Though comedy is very mediocre. But the story goes way more than it is required time. A 20 to 30 min short film is good enough.
