- Characters are bitten and eaten by creatures; there are also several fights between humans where people are punched, stabbed, shot and bashed in the head. Some fanatics are shown to have cut off their own tongues.

- Once the pivotal events take hold, there is continuous threat existing for the rest of the film. Some will find this frightening.
- Since this movie is based on creatures that attack by sound, the characters in the film must be careful and keep silent throughout. The film is not that terrifying but the sudden loud sound effects may cause viewers to be jumpy!!!

Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The protagonists are threatened by noise-sensitive creatures (who kill several people, including sympathetic characters, in bloody fashion) and by hostile survivors who try (and fail) to kidnap a teenage girl (the intention to rape her is implied but no actual rape happens).
- A mother and her baby are forced off a subway car by the other occupants because the crying baby will attract the monsters. The baby begins to cry once they are out of the car and the monsters attack. You don't see the attack but you hear the mother screaming. Can be a distressing scene for some.
- A dog is attacked by the creatures (offscreen). Can be unsettling
- A confused old lady is ripped apart and thrown into a well, her screams and the scene itself is unsettling to some viewers, definitely not for the younger viewers.
