It is actually good
kwesib-3217917 July 2021
This show is really underrated but it is understandable. First off, the sequel has taken very long. Also, the anime has so many generic tropes that makes it predictable especially in the early episodes. The series is like a mind game series that rests on intelligence and brains throughout the first season. It would have been better only if they did not implement some of the usual high-school clichés we've seen in anime so many times. However, the anime managed to turn things around halfway through. It became brilliant, fast paced and mysterious. The cliffhangers left me anticipating for more and the plot became unpredictable. Its such a pity the sequel never came when the ending of the first season was so impressive.

I have never regretted the fact I don't understand Japanese more...
gracehiggins-712772 October 2018
To all of those reading this, do not stop watching until the end of this anime! I became obsessed with this after watching it thinking, "this looks like a decent school anime with a mastermind character", but after watching this, I immediately looked up the manga to see if I could keep follow the story. However, disappointingly, the english version of the manga is behind the anime.

The only reason I didn't give this 10 stars is because I thought it was slightly slow moving. This wouldn't have been a problem had there been more episodes, and I get that you can't really explore Ayanokouji without the slow reveal of his genius, but the fact that . In summary, the only problem is, is that there isn't enough of it!

The only regret you'll have after watching this, is that there isn't anymore you can watch!

Really really good
yollotrollo15 November 2020
I don't really know in which specific category of anime this series belongs but it is a weird mixture of romance, drama, and scholarly animations. In summary, it is about a student that wants to transform a classroom of useless people into the best one of its school. This is done by a system of points in which every classroom gains a certain amount of points depending on how they perform on certain tests. These points accumulate and, depending on your amount of points, the classroom gets a specific denomination from A to D that can be related to socioeconomic classes, being A the best one and D the lowest one.

The strong points of this series and the reason that I liked it a lot are its characters (especially the MC) and the plot twists that it presents. The characters are really dynamic and all of them have complex personalities that make them extremely interesting. Then, the story manages to create an interesting story that grabs you from the first episode with an unexpected plot-twist until the end where the MC shows how intelligent he really is and what his intentions are.

But, not everything is good with this anime specifically for its ending. The problem with it is that it is an open ending that leaves almost no answer for anything that the series was building towards. This is an issue as there is any confirmation of a second season.

In conclusion, the Classroom of the elite is a really good series with amazing characters and an engaging story. But, this story gets cut halfway and it ends up incomplete. So, if you want to watch it keep in mind that you will be left with no real conclusion and with almost every question without an answer.

It's a solid 10/10 and it needs a season 2

Warning: Spoilers
Classroom of the Elite, is a show about Kyotaka Ayanokoji. An expressionless, dull, average boy, who attends a new school. A show where everyone is put in to classes based on abilities and much more. He was a very average student, with scores of 50 on each of his entrance exams. Although, he may seem like a very calm and nice character, with no specialness about him. He possesses, brilliant skills such as martial arts, hunting abilities and even how to hide in certain situations. This makes many characters curious of Kyotaka. Although, it seems like he was just a brilliant character, at the end of the show one of his classmates, Horikita, who had always brushed him off and never accepted him as a friend finally confessed to him as a friend. However, then it comes to the shocking bit. Ayanokoji, doesn't care. He doesn't give a toss about who's his friend. He doesn't care about society. He just wants to win. He doesn't need emotion. He just wants to win. His motives were finally revealed. He uses people, to his advantage for himself to be on top of everyone else. For everyone to underestimate him, and for him to pounce when the time is right. This show took the darkest turn, and it definitely deserves to have a season 2 or a reboot. The story's end was so abrupt and it definitely deserves a sequel to explain more of Kyotaka's past. He is a very good main character, a very unique one. He is very similar to Sakuta from the Bunny Girl Senpai series. This show is a solid 10 and a must watch from me. It's very brilliant.

Good plot bad execution
sfekri14 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The story is about a mysterious boy who claims to be ordinary and uninteresting. However, as the story moves forward we see that he is anything but. The story is set in a new school. It's part of a government experiment to use the best teachers n new studies to educate and nurture Japan's next generation of leaders. The plot is interesting and the story is captivating, all of which, unfortunately, is undermined by the director's interest in showing female bodies in different scenes which serves no purpose to the progress of the plot whatsoever.

Dont believe the hype

This is one of those anime you expect somethings gonna happen and nothing does. It looks like its gonna be special than you realize half way this is just another high school harem anime with an OP Main character, Tsundere, shy hot girl and ..FAN SERVICE. The first episode present the premise and creates tension but before they do anything to address the problem the show is over. SKIP IT

The second season really improved the show
Tasteless_Critic_Takes21 September 2022
Classroom of the Elite is yet another anime where the MC seems to be smarter than most of our world leaders and the student council has more power than a government. As per usual with these kinds of anime they are very over the top but undoubtedly heavily enjoyable despite the ropy and absurd plot.

I really enjoy the show, as I often do with anime I think the fanservice is a tad too much, moreso in Season 1, but it improved in this aspect in the second season.

The show is certainly enjoyable for people who like manipulative characters, a bit like Johan Liebert from Monster or Kategiri Yuuichi from Tomodachi Game, and despite most other characters being rather stagnant and bland or unlikeable and way too evil for a highschooler, this achieves the effect it aims for by making Ayanokoji way more likeable. I enjoy the worldbuilding of the academy and the idea of a "points system" which it introduces makes it a very nice blend between a Drama and Highschool anime. I also like how you may sometimes take a step back from conventional school concepts and see the characters engage in a more real-world activity.

Overall, the show is really fun to watch, I've also heard good things about the Light Novels so they'd probably have my recommendation as well. Overall around 7.8/10 but we'll up it to an 8 for IMDB!

Premise interesting, ending of seaon sucks
majella_bushman27 June 2021
So far there is only one season and they leave it at tyr last few minutes with a slight plot twist review trying to build a cliffhanger opening for a second season. In reality, it took 12 episodes to buildup to a nothing reveal. All the flashbbacks on his childhood reveal little to nothing. I was left hollow and disappointed since I binge-watched it in one sitting. Plus it was entirely too slow and the 12 episodes could have been squeezed into 6 leaving the other six to actually build a real plot and finish the series on a high note.

But my biggest pet peeve was that all the characters were supposed tonbevfirst years and some of the men looked the appropriate age yet a few looked loke they were in there lates 20s and the bald creepy vein bulging one in class A looked in his 30's. They even had a black bodyguard who clearly isn't Japanese by heavy for his class C (25 yr old "master") who looked right out of a nightclub bouncer vibe and was drawn by 30 too. Be consistent with the ages if they are supposed to be in high school and about 15. As it is every anime drawing of a 15 year looks like she has the bosom of a college girl but a face and height of a little girl. That just makes it easier for anime creaters to add the sexual and usually creepy undertones to the show.

I have a reason for this so bear with me okay
HardLight27 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
How do you make a series good? Do you make it action packed? Do you make in intellectual? Do you make it worth the hours of time for a person to sit and watch it?

These are the questions that are needed to be asked and one of them is definitely not done in this.

To be frank, I like Classroom of the Elite, I enjoy the plot, the score, the art, the acting, I enjoy everything about this and I should be giving this a 10/10.

I can't though. Because this isn't classroom of the elite.

Yeah it's got the name, yeah it's got the characters and the very basic plotline. But it's not Classroom of the Elite. I cannot confirm who it is but there is at least 1 person on the team that has a vested interest in denying a view of the central character as being something other than a manipulative genius who sees people all around him as pieces to use.

And let me be clear here, when a show makes cuts I do not mind it, there are entire parts of this that are missing that should be there that I'm 100% perfectly okay with. But as with Season 1, there are certain parts that are either missing or replaced with other characters that I cannot let go of, because it turns this series into something it's not.

Let me state it here, from this point on there will be spoilers and I will be ruining part of the story of season 2, so if you've not watched it or read the Light Novels, don't go on (for imdb I'm putting the spoiler tag on right this moment)

This season involves the beginnings of the interplay between Kiyotaka Ayanokoji and Kei Karuizawa. Starting with her backstory of severe bullying and abuse, her reveal of her trauma and Kiyotaka working to rid her of that trauma. Everything this season is to do this.

And by the end, he has, albeit that he's literally had her severely bullied and abused to get there, but she IS free of that trauma now.

And the ending is where I draw the line, where I say whoever is making these decisions is doing it both maliciously and deliberately as there was an internal conversation Kiyotaka has with himself over how he sees his life at school, his relationships and how he sees Kei.

It is not like it is in the anime, where the anime has gone for a direct referencing and mirroring of how Kiyotaka thought at the end of season 1 where he still argues that people are tools and things to be used and that he did this to gain full control over Kei.

This. Is. Not. How. The. Story. Goes.

I do not watch Classroom of the Elite for some no-name to give me their story, I do not tune into any story that has already been written for someone elses take on it. I watch it because I enjoy the story written by the author and want to see that in a visual medium.

This series does not do that. I did not like how they made the central focus of season 1 Horikita and turned an entire episode in that season into her focus.

I do not like how they have made the central focus of season 2 into a fake controlled relationship with Kei and have turned the first genuine thought of wanting and having a friend from Kiyotaka into a mirror of the first season.

I am giving them 1 more chance to show they are not going to do the same thing and if I see the merest hint of them doing this exact thing again. I'm dropping this series and sticking with the books.

Because again, I don't watch this for someone elses take on the story, I watch it to see the story in a moving picture format that is easy to do, the book is there, follow that guide.

Interesting characters + great voice actors
meabak36030 January 2022
So classroom of the elite (2017) is a really interesting anime the first season was released in 2017 as a promotion to the light novel and damn it was successful that time. Recently I found some time to watch it myself. Tbh it is a good anime with really well designs and an interesting story which is its bright side. Opening and ending were not something gripping so after two or three episodes I skipped them. Voice actors were quite good and well cast, I couldn't find a single character with the wrong voice choice or any other problems on that matter. The story includes good characters with no backstory at all so so times will come that it may surprise you. But on the downside, if you are into animes especially high school animes with a psychological theme you can guess what is going to happen so no it doesn't have a 100% unique story but it has its originality too.

Overall, classroom of the elite may not have a unique story but due to its character development and some twists, it is worth the time. However, beware that 5 years have passed and still there is no solid news about the second season.

Youkoso jitsuryoku shijou shugi no kyoushitsu e (JAP)/ Classroom of the elite 📺⭐ 8/10.

A wonderful anime
bhermann-4060831 March 2020
This show focuses on struggles between characters, in different school classes, aspiring to enter the highest class in Japanese society, some classes scheming against each other. I don't want to spoil anything more about that show, but I will say it does focus on struggle between socioeconomic classes, in an allegory of sorts. As such, this gets a rating of 10.

Pretty good school anime!
Irishchatter8 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I thought the characters were interesting like they all have different personalities that you never expected to work on an anime before.

It's even interesting thst every student gets rewarded certain points if they did well in the exams and I have to tell ya, I wish my secondary school was like Koudo Ikusei Senior High School lol! I probably would spend too much on junk lol!

Really good anime, 8/10 I give it!

Cute, Erotic and Cunning
schanzaysohail12 May 2021
I watched this anime thinking it was an anime about teenage High-school rivalry , but oh boy I was in for a shock.. Of course it had a High-school rivalry in it i mean that was the main Theme I suppose but there was so much more to it, things I wasn't expecting... I don't want to give any spoilers but i binged the entire anime in one day. Every time I watched an episode i wanted to see more. But in the end a lot of pages were left unturned and the season ended incomplete. No they didn't leave us on a big cliffhanger but they made us so curious and ended the season... It is a very good way of marketing if you want the audience to keep watching but from what I see on the internet it doesn't look like there is going to be an another season... I liked it a lot from the girls to the smart teenagers to the minor fights turning into something big I loved this show, I would definitely recommend watching this but without your parents though:))

I HOPE U FIND MY REVIEW USEFUL.

Enjoyable but not unique.
dameon_green24 April 2020
Overall solid points on: -Art & Style (consistent, quality, etc.). -Slow but Steady character growth (though more would have been good). -Some unusual "hurtles" the "class" had to deal with.

But looses points due to: -Predicable plot. -Generic/Trope character design. -Generic/Trope plot elements. -Mild but distracting fan service. -Flirted with some darker concepts but failed to deliver.

Enjoyed watching it, like the overall concept and I'd watch a second season if it happens. Would not mind if it got a little darker.

There so many anime out there worth watching over this.
enirozelaa8 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The anime is mediocre with many plotholes and lazy writing , the same thing happens over and over in all aspects of the anime (plot twists, romance, action, dark, etc)rendering the viewers experience numb .Why the main character is boring

1)It is tricky making an anime were the character is op because we always know the outcome sto the only thing u have to look for in this anime is if the character will get involved or not which is boring.

2)Although hinting what the character went through in the past it never shows you on 2 full seasons what excactly so the anime's aim is for you to become hinged until you learn what happened more than for it to intrigue you.

3)The only feeling this anime gets out of you is the romance between the characters but due to ''no feelings cool main character'' no romance develops and the girls get switched up (The first main girl had only 1 episode in the whole season 2) so that you can again become hinged not intriqued.

4)Main character is a mastermind although nothing he though was so extremely clever , everything he accomplished was because they wrote the anime plot in that way so that he can win every time. If you are confused in this bits explanation think about Sherlock holmes the series they really show some smart theories were they would theoratically happen in real life with real descisions.you see the difference in the masterminds?

5)Main character does literally the opposite of what an avarage viewer would do in his potition so that colcludes in a no viewer-main character connection.

6)Main characters ultimate goals are unkown even after 2 seasons

7)Main character WHOLE agenda was that hes op but doesnt show it so when he does actually it anime doesnt focus on reactions so that leaves the viewer wondering what is he even watching this anime for.

8)For a so cold dark anime with dark main character neither were so dark nobody dies nobody gets expelled even NOBODY gets hurt even.

In conclusion my title is the are so many animes worth watching over this so if you havent watched it dont and if you have and you disagree with me its either because ur below 16 or its one of your 5 animes and u havent seen nothing else.

Best in class if you like Crime/psychological generes
Nonomemes20 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As I read some other comments / attributes / ecc. Let me clear first: In this anime there is 0 (Zero) fan service. I do not really understand how so many people write like picture of girl in bikini = Fan service / Nudity / sex ecc... like a woman can not go to the pool because they can take a picture or make a drawing of her.

In this anime 2-3 of the main female characters are "so called sexualized profiles" but funny is that also 3 main male charters are "so called sexualized profiles" and this is not in any comment actually, also they do not say some male characters bully and ask others to threat/beat/kneecap/ecc.. others guys and girls... .

But if you read the title, it is clear that this is "the classroom of the elite" so the environment is very competitive and some characters are more aggressive than average, in any aspect (not only in studying).

The "famous scene" of the stalker who try to take on the former social idol is exactly the opposite of the fan service: first thing Kiyotaka does is to take a picture of him and explain him what he is doing and consequences, the stalker is stigmatized by every part.

I wrote "Crime" in the title but there is no "severe crime", everything run around a secret system for calculating the performance of student / classes which is then basis for class upgrades and to earn points that are threated as money in the closed campus they live.

The series does not have a proper end, but we hope for a follow-up.

At end I remembered there is maybe 1 fan service: the dress code of teacher of class D : but it looks more a fan service for the school personnel rather than for the students, who are so much under pressure by many sides that they do not care at all.

The studio Lerche adapt this very well except episode 7 and Horikita
maskamaynard2 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
When you watch for the first time, somehow the characters really similar with 'Oregairu' but actually really different. There's tag romance but this series more like survival.

I like this character design not really bad if you compare with 'Konosuba', the plot is really interesting with setting similar with 'Baka Test' and MC really OP like Tatsuya from 'Mahouka'.

Honestly I expect much better since studio Lerche will adapt this, if you remember Lerche make great anime like 'Danganronpa', 'Ansatsu Kyoshitsu' and 'Kuzu no Honkai' but if you Light Novel reader and try compare it with anime you can see so much difference.

They adapt from novel very well except EP 7 there's part that didn't happen in novel. One thing that people didn't like it is heroine named Suzune Horikita. She have bigger role in anime compare with novel, because of that people upset. Well if they adapt it until 20+ episode I am fine with the problem from Horikita but unfortunately only 12 episode. The studio just adapt this to promote Novel so don't expect for season 2.

(sorry my English not really good)
