Stinker
connolley32521 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The premise had such potential but this movie was a hot mess. It starts off in the 1980s with some guy having a failing computer platform that was being shut down and then some random "Bobby" messages him and wants "friends" and claims he would help this guy with his platform. Then blood comes streaming down the walls. It all made ZERO sense. Then we jump to present day where social media influencers are attending a conference and there is a room at the hotel that's "haunted" by a rabbit balloon and Bobby apparently. People die randomly and there is no explanation about the supernatural element, who Bobby is, why he died and why he's maliciously haunting this room, and so on. I can't believe I watched it all the way through but I was home recuperating from surgery. This could have been so much better. SAD!

Average Acting Can't Save a Terrible Story
danceyk23 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The actors are not the culprits for how bad the movie is. They were average, play their parts and delivering their lines adequately. Where this movie lacks is in the storytelling.

You can barely tell how that happened. The direction is flawed and the script isn't bad in terms of dialogue, plus there are enough clever moments to lead you to believe that it could be a decent movie. In the beginning, anyway. SPOILERS BELOW.

Someone involved in production was delusional enough to believe that the audience didn't deserve (or need?) any explanation whatsoever. The intro to the movie introduces us to LinkRabbit's creator and explains why he's a little jaded, but at no time are we told who Bobby is, where Bobby came from, what happened to Bobby and why LinkRabbit's creator is working together with him.

This attempt at "mystery" and leaving the villain open to interpretation fails miserably. Some of the info presented was unnecessary and necessary info was left out completely.

There's also the unfortunate focus on communicating the stories and personalities of the influencers, over any tact with scares. Yes, character development is important... but so is the 'horror' aspect of your horror movie.

Anyway, that's my rant.

It's a painful watch.

I will always try and look for some positives in a film...... but I'm struggling here. The artificial world of the empty celebrity has never really been something that I'm hugely drawn to, but I will review this film without any bias. So what exactly is happening to The YouTube star in Suite 2210A? Quite honestly after a few minutes you will have lost a huge proportion of your sensory awareness as you struggle to stick with the disjointed plot and vacuous characters who attach a relevance to such trash. Candy and make up, you will find more depth in a wafer.

Genuinely terrible. 2/10

All "dumb," no "deep"
taylordavison-6848520 January 2020
Apart from the fact that this is a blatant and one-dimensional ripoff of 1408, this film hops on the bandwagon of everyone and their grandmother making commentary pieces on social media. The characters are unrealistically dumb and the plot makes absolutely no sense. Life is short, don't waste it watching this dumpster fire....unless you find incoherent garbage like this to be unintentionally funny, and if that's the case, have fun!

A masterpiece of horror! Just kidding - it stinks!
Wizard-821 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Given that the running time of this movie is only 77 minutes in length, I have a sneaking suspicion that the movie's initial cut in the editing room was a lot longer, but for reasons unknown to me the movie was subsequently cut down. That might explain the many unexplained questions that come up in the movie. We never know how the evil force in the hotel originally got there, we never know why this evil force is homicidal, and at the end of the movie we never know how the hotel management managed to keep hidden what happened... among many other unanswered questions. But more of an explanation would have padded things out further, and the movie as it is plods by at an incredibly slow pace despite the short running time. For most of the running time, NOTHING of consequence happens. What makes it even worse to sit through is that all of the principle characters are brainless and annoying... and most of the secondary characters, for that matter. While I admit that many bad movies still manage to get a few defenders, I really can't see anyone watching this particular movie all the way through and giving it a thumbs up. A documentary of the making of this movie would probably be a lot more entertaining than the movie itself.

Just stop. Don't. Don't even watch the first 5 minutes. Exit the film and pretend you didn't click on it.

internet influencers? i mean, sure, you WANT them to die.
davidm-1424 February 2020
Interesting blend of a couple of different tropes here. there's a hotel, which, for some reason, is kind of haunted or possessed (see "1408") and then take that hotel, add a haunted, little-used room and make it the convention center for a bunch of internet "stars". it's hard to feel any kind of sympathy for this group at all, and i didn't.

May not be for everyone

I really enjoyed this movie. There's a lot of spooky hidden things going on in the background that kept surprising me as I watched. Nothing gross or gratuitous happened to the females (which is sometimes very hard to find in a horror movie). The ending didn't really feel like the movie was finished but I really enjoyed the ride.

Deadcon is underrated
halloweenjagsfan12 December 2021
I enjoyed the movie. I'm a sucker for the movies that play mental games and this movie allows you to draw your own conclusions. This allows you to draw your own conclusion on how Bobby was killed and how Bobby plays an integral part in the movie. It is a slower paced movie that relies in creating a eerie atmosphere unlike most modern movies that do jump-scare after jump-scare. However, due to it being a slower paced movie, many people lost interest in the movie. This movie is more geared to people who are willing to sit for a movie and engage their brain.

The writers themselves got bored.....
alex-marotta-217-80268716 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The entire film starts with a potentially interesting idea and then nothing happens with it. No explanation, nothing.

The scariest thing about this film is how a bunch of teenagers who people watch on the internet are seen as celebs by their fans and so feel as though they are entitled to things.

The story itself - there isn't one apart from something to do with a chat room which doesnt get explained and a child who kills people which isn't really spoken about.

On the plus side, it's marginally better than the terrible #horror film Netflix has also! 😂

Don't waste your time
jamieleesterrittjigsaw18 January 2020
I just spent 1hr and 18 minutes of my life that I will never get back. It was foolish and naive of me to think that this film would be entertaining and ending have a twist that you wouldn't see coming. I was so wrong, none of the storylines come together in the end. The jump scares are extremely predictable and boring, the plot dragged if you even want to call it a plot. This film was lazily written and absolutely no thought was put into it. The writer clearly couldn't come up with a decent twist or explanation for the events depicted in the film. It honestly feels as if the director was changed several times for each scene as the narrative is unable to remain on the same course throughout. The film had so many subplots that its as if the writer couldn't decide which one to go along with and expand upon or didn't understand the meaning of an ending. The director would have no chance of getting away with saying "We want the audience to interpret what happened" as it is clearly obvious the creator had no idea what they were doing. I have seen low budget films with amatuer content that has been a lot more entertaining than this trash. I do feel sorry for the actors and crew members who did their best to make this movie but honestly, watching paint dry would be more entertaining than this.

Why was this made?
Pgalland2529 February 2020
Serious question, when the creators got to the end there is no way they thought they made something worth watching.

Very odd premise, abrupt deaths, and awful ending
ravenclaw_girlrules18 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The backstory is incredibly outdated considering the setting. I honestly don't understand the choose an activity prompt.

It seemed like the story was focusing on Ashley until her possession - then she disappears for a while and Megan becomes the focus. We never get one real protagonist - Dave figures out the backstory and still dies at the end. And what did the ghost actually want? Hauntings with no objective or solution are lame. The conflict between Megan, her boyfriend, and Dave is never resolved - her boyfriend is beheaded and that's it.

Please don't waste time on this one - it had a budget, and that's it.

This is actually the worst movie out there
zacward-5052926 January 2020
NONE OF THE PLOT MADE SENSE! You can quite clearly see the layering they use on their effects, terrible script, terrible acting. For gods sake what does it take to create a half decent movie. I understand it takes a lot of effort but if you're not there yet, you're not there yet

Vapid and Soulless with Few Scares
aisling-campbell2 April 2020
When films try to tackle internet-based horror they either do it well or they crash and burn. This is a crash and burn.

It feels like it's been made by someone with no real understanding of the kind of people the film is supposedly about -- like someone whose teenage daughter is a big fan of someone on Youtube and who has listened to her try to explain them. It seems like the film is trying to aim at some deeper truth about the industry, but the characters are all so bland it's impossible to actually care. The audience for this film seems to be those same undemanding preteens shown running about knocking on doors in a desperate bid to meet their favourite internet stars. The ghost lore feels very reminiscent of Creepypastas or even the lore from Five Nights at Freddys, again feeling like it's trying for popular appeal without first understanding the things it's borrowing from. The derivative nature might have been forgivable if just one character had remarked on the similarity, like 'Oh, spooky, this is like one of those creepy internet stories' or something. It's boring, lacks any self-awareness and is generally all surface no substance. And the surface isn't even that appealing. It's not really worth watching in my opinion.

I watched this movie out of boredom and although i can appreciate a good cheesy horror film, this entire thing felt like it was half baked. I agree with other reviews that say this movie felt like several little b stories that never actually come together. It almkst felt as if the writers wrote the parts separately and then tried to jam them all together. Then at the end, it suddenly switches to POV, wtf? All in all, there wasnt much entertainment to gain from this film, so do yourself a favor and skip it.

I can't even rate this movie because I have no idea what it was about. I really like the idea of it; it had some fantastic ideas running through it, but it didn't come together at all. It not make any sense, there were major plot holes and so the whole movie felt completely unfinished. To be honest I'm not sure who approved this script and how it even got into production.

Everyone's sleeping on this movie! I am a huge horror/thriller fan and I see much higher rated movies that I think are worse than this. As a person who isn't into the whole "influencer" thing I still think this is a great movie and something DIFFERENT. I get tired of seeing the same types of movies and this one at least brought something fun and interesting to the table. I also LOVE movies where a spooky hotel is the setting. Give it a try.

pre teen horror
lifelinespublishing18 October 2019
This was about some horrors occuring in a hotel occupied by social media influencers., as far as the acting it was average, plot was a bit slow and the story really did not make a whole lot of sense, you will see that when you watch this movie, gave it a 4 because the scare was lame and the ending was lame as well., if you're 12 or 11 you'd probably get scared but if you're above that age, this is a waste of time, trust me!
