Oh so typical

Warning: Spoilers
MONKEY FARM is a typical found footage indie horror outing that follows a group of characters as they head off to an abandoned research institute known for its animal experimentation. Once there they discover something very nasty indeed and soon regret their exploration. As with many indies, due to budgetary constraints this is 95% padding and 5% horror content. It's slow for a long time and closes with a BLAIR WITCH style climax. Expect a few guys in masks, lots and lots of location shooting, and little else.

Truly Awful
jqp-844808 July 2018
The dialog was awful, the script was awful, and the acting was even more awful than everything else.

Actors delivered their lines in a stilted, awkward manner.

The script was written using phrases that nobody in real life would. It's just not normal speech.

The "special effects" aren't so special.

And the monster is... well, I won't put spoilers here.

I appreciate the indie effort that went into this, but every bit of it - the plot, the script, the acting and directing - all need a lot of very serious work.

Superb Indie Movie
ikkadechepta14 March 2018
I think the director and all the actors of the movie did a fabulous job. This movie beats hands down all high budget movies.

I am bowled over by the daring attempt of the fellows involved in making the movie. Clearly they have great talent.

Only downside I could think of is that the movie is a bit technical but then its OK.

Given the great potential of this movie's makers, I wonder what they could deliver if they had proper budget at hand.

Well executed found footage indie horror movie-A good sign of things to come from CatchMeKillMe Productions

Found footage movies are always hit and miss but are generally a great way to get out a big story on a small budget. I was a bit skeptical going in because CatchMeKillMe Productions last film Fireside Tales (my review in link) was big on story but low on execution and was shot on half the budget ($5,000) as Monkey Farm. I liked Fireside Tales for what it was but I really liked Monkey Farm for the visible progression of talent that was displayed by the director, actors and the story telling. Of course this movie isn't perfect, not may are, but given the budget Ian Messenger had to work with I feel like he created a really good found footage creature feature that was carried heavily by the story and the acting. He is showing huge improvement as a film maker and as a story teller, so give his movies an open minded watch and appreciate them for what they are...Low budget indie horror with tremendous heart and ambition.

Warning: Spoilers
Monkey Farm is a documentary style movie about animal testing and what could go wrong. It definitely built me up for a good scare and the end promised exactly that! I cant believe how good this movie is with such a low budget. Props to the producer Ian Messenger for making such a great film! Cant wait to see whats next from Catchmekillme.
