I have been binge watching the first three seasons of Gotham and overall I have loved it. The show combines cop drama, slasher violence, teen romance, and some very grown up soap opera sexuality. There's over a dozen characters I think are strong enough to carry a series all on their own. And I'm saying all this as someone who was never a fan of Batman or his universe. (Strictly horror comics, early Seventies Warren Magazines.)
But here is season four, the writers seem to be running out of ideas. I loved Butch when he was Tabitha's boyfriend, and there was such a steamy triangle between Barbara, Tabitha, and Butch. And the way he lost his hand, and stayed loyal to Tabitha even when the Riddler was torturing both of them, was a series high point.
But Butch coming back as Grundy? This story line is like a pastiche of very bad Frankenstein movies, plus a ninth grader riffing on Of Mice And Men.
Is Riddler going to let Grundy tend the rabbits?
