This is the fourth DC Animated to be rated R by the MPAA (Motion Picture Association Of America) after Batman: The Killing Joke (2016), Justice League Dark (2017) and Batman: Gotham by Gaslight (2018). It is however the second film to be given an MA15+ rating by the ACB (Australian Classification Board) after "Batman: The Killing Joke".
When Suicide Squad are interviewing Steel Maxum in the woods, he states the new Dr Fate is "some woman now" referring to either Linda Strauss or Inza Nelson, both of whom have held the mantle of Dr Fate.
Deadshot says that Amanda Waller has been cranky since she lost weight, referencing the fact that this movie uses her New 52 design, which is younger and thinner than her more famous stocky appearance.
A reference is made to Ten Eyed Man, who is unknown to the other characters. Ten Eyed Man is an obscure Batman villain who can see with his finger tips. He is often ranked among Batman's more obscure and ridiculous enemies.
Christian Slater, the voice of Floyd Lawton/Deadshot, voiced the same character in the animated series Justice League Action (2016).
