ABC is getting off to a slightly later start this fall, with no less than 12 shows — including its entire Tuesday lineup — being held until October.
That said, the network’s fall schedule is coming out swinging on Monday, Sept. 24 with the Season 27 (!) premiere of Dancing With the Stars at 8/7c, followed by the return of breakout hit The Good Doctor at 10 pm.
Also of note: Grey’s Anatomy begins its “season of love” with a two-hour premiere event on Thursday, Sept. 27 (8 pm), while Roseanne spinoff The Conners makes its Barr-less debut on Tuesday, Oct. 16 (8 pm).

Nobody likes surprises — especially during the summer, which is supposed to be a happy time full of hot dogs, spiked watermelon and then boozy, late-night games of lawn darts. (What?)
But given how quietly summer TV shows get cancelled, usually during the dog days of August while you’re busy getting Billy ready for the first day of military school, it’s easy to forget that a few of your off-season favorites are simply now, well, off.
TVLine is here to help — or rub salt in wounds (it really depends on how you look at it) — by providing a handy...

CBS got the game ball tonight at the 39th annual Sports Emmys, taking home a network-leading eight trophies at the Lincoln Center ceremony in Manhattan. Its coverage of the New England Patriots’ comback win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2018 Afc Championship Game was the most-honored program with five statuettes.
Last year’s champion, Fox, was the runner-up with six awards, followed by ESPN with five. The Worldwide Leader led all network groups with 10 Sports Emmys, followed by CBS with eight and Fox Sports Media Group and NBC Sports Group with six apiece. Check out the complete list of winners from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences here.
Three programs tied for the second-most hardware tonight, with CBS’ 118th Army-Navy Game — which also took the marquee Outstanding Live Sporst Event category — ESPN’s College Game Day and Nascar on Fox all grabbing three apiece. ESPN2’s E:60 was the only other multiple winner.

ABC has handed out renewals to three long-running reality franchises (plus one scrappy newcomer). The network on Tuesday announced that it has picked up new seasons of Dancing With the Stars (Season 27, aka the Fall 2018 cycle), The Bachelor (Season 23), America’s Funniest Home Videos (Season 29) and Ricky Gervais’ Child Support (Season 2).
Conspicuously missing from the list of renewals: Summer singing competition Boy Band and the network’s revival of Battle of the Network Stars. A source tells TVLine that while neither series has been officially cancelled, there are no current plans for them to return.

ABC and NBC tied atop the advertiser-coveted Nielsen ratings demographic on Monday, with the “American Ninja Warrior” network finishing first among total viewers.
That wasn’t “The Bachelorette’s” fault, however: Rachel Lindsay’s hometown dates round set a new season-high among overall viewers. Unfortunately, its “Battle of the Network Stars” rerun at 10 ruined the Disney network’s primetime averages.
NBC and ABC tied for first in ratings, both with a 1.3 rating/5 share in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic. NBC was first in total viewers with an average of 5.1 million, according to preliminary numbers. ABC was second in viewers with 4.9 million.
