Mason is a bit of a problem when the discovery is made that our heroin has a bitter past. Part of the problem, however, has to do with the lies she tells for what ever reason. We see how the prosecutors and the police have no interest in investigating, only intimidating a relatively defenseless perpetrator. We do know that the Fourth of July week is significant. The writers are doing a really good job of showing the vulnerabilities and fears of this woman. The acting so far has been superb. One subplot has to do with the collapse of a marriage and this isn't taken lightly. Also, there is a kind of S & M thing going.
