Kind of good
jessicaharrison-9697620 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This movie has its moments and its storyline is smooth. I'm not a giant fan of animated movies and this is not one of my favorites at all, but it has its moments in the movie where you feel emotion. Sometimes the panic in the characters in the movie is confusing. But at the same time somehow enjoyable if you were looking for one of those movies that is animated was not the best animation, but still suitable for young kids and once a good story and good characters and good comedy and interesting designs. This is probably one of my top five recommended movies for that kind of movie not my favorite, but it could be for a lot of other people.

The Danish word for crap must be Pear

Complete waste of time. Really bad animation, terrible plot, and really bad voices and acting make this a really big waste of money and time. You are better served watching middle school film festivals than this amateurish and boring film. I can't stress how bad this is. Worse than "The Room". My 6 year old who watches Disney Collector asked if we could leave halfway through.

Great for little ones with a simple story and nothing scary
twgg31 March 2019
Most movies even Disney have scenes/characters that would be too scary for my kids (4/7).

This movie was perfect for them, had a simple story, funny, and nothing was too scary. Bonus that it was just over an hr long so they actually watched to the end.

An hour and a half of suffering
southparkdk1 April 2018
My young cousin wanted to watch this movie, so I took him to the movie theatre to watch it. The trailers looked OK, if not a bit cheap. But don't judge a movie by it's trailer I guess.

We Start off in the sunny town of "Solby" were we get introduced to our two main characters, Mitcho (an annoying little cat) and Sebastian (and even more annoying elephant) Who wants to be a captain or something because his great grandfather disappeared at sea. the mayor of Solby disappears and they all go on an adventure to find him. Stuff just kinda seems to happen around them, and the awful animation and voice acting makes it unwatchable. I'm not gonna spoil it for you incase you want to watch it for yourself, but I wouldn't recommend doing that. This movies make The Room look like a master pice. How the writer of the novel (who I used to know) was satisfied with this mess is beyond me. 1/10

Good for small kids (2-4), thoughful for those in between (5-8)

Most of the reviews seem very off to me - I really cannot believe we saw the same film? Or maybe they reviewed it for much older kids, which is wrong.

The movie has great themes and a great simple animation style. Even my kid at 1,5 just left his toys to watch along.

Enjoy it for what it is: a great story with slow pace (like old time Barbar) and simple animations and voices.

Dumb but cute
rudy-rigot17 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Just because it's for kids doesn't mean it needs to be stupid...

For instance: "oh no, we're stuck on that ship and there's nothing we can do, we need to deliver a message, let's eject a bottle with the message in it and it will land where we need!" 2 minutes later: "oh no, the ship is sinking now!" "well, don't worry, I have a dragon who will help us out of it"

Wait, where was your dragon like 2 minutes ago instead of that message in a bottle silly thing?

My 5-yo liked it, and it's cute (despite pretty poor graphics), so I guess it's good for the target audience; but damn!

An incredible waste of time

The story is all over the place. The characters are annoying and silly. We really wanted to like it but it was just awful. My son and I are not picky, we like lots of silly shows, so that should tell you how bad this is.

Elephants and cats oh my! And giant pears too?
m_winship7 June 2019
Straight out of Denmark, and enchanting tale if intrigue and adventure, all starting with a message in a bottle. How fun is this Alfred, (my dear nephew) Natascha Mortensen and Elizabeth Mary Mortensen. This tale starts off a bit juvenile and immature, but I think that is due to translation dubs. If you'll give it five minutes, you'll be as enthralled as I and love this tale too. A young boy, anthropomorphically portrayed as a yellow cat with his anthropomorphically shown grey elephant portrayed as his buddy. As the story progresses the adventure begins! Enjoy and as always, put on your life preserver when riding a boat with the guys! Cheers, Murf

Awful and cheap
mcoats-7110117 December 2023
Terrible wrip off of everything Roald Dahl this rather cheap looking and overly long animated film is just atrocious.

It's done by the same studios I think as cocomelon so the cartoon itself is recognisable - but it's just very weird, makes no sense, and like I said above looks so cheap. It's also amazingly creepy but not in a good way, just in a way that makes no sense.

You can also tell it's dubbed or was originally in a foreign language - so that adds to the overall bad rating. What is most annoying is that it's a copycat, and is not original. There's an element of Dahl, an element of a Disney film or two of course and all sorts of other cartoons mashed into one.

So terrible!

Such a wonderful story

My family and I love this movie. As a parent, I like the adventure and how the main characters work out conflict and encourage each other and how individually they overcome. My kids love watching it.

Great for kids

This is a kids movie. My 10yo has loved watching it on Netflix and wanted me to buy it. End of. If you're an adult reviewing this movie for yourself, take a hike.

My 7 and 3 yo are absolutely hooked on this movie
jpmock6 May 2022
This is my 7 year old son's favorite go to movie for going on about 3 years (since he was 4). He just loves it so much that I figured I had to write this review. I see this movie does not have a lot of reviews so I figure it is very under marketed and under appreciated by the masses, unlike many Disney movies. I have watched this movie a few times with him and I must say it is a bit of a gem. It is very unique and creative. The writers producers etc deserve more exposure on this.

My son is so obsessed with this movie he has asked for a 'dreadful sea dragon toy' and draws pictures of the sea dragon that he is so proud of. Wish I could share them as they're quite amazing. Unfortunately i have not been able to find any toy figures of the movie.

Kudos to the creators!
