an engrossing and moving korean drama
aminifatimaaa23 May 2019
As predictable as the heart-warming plot may be, director Choi Sung-hyun has created a captivating film. Despite the lack of originality of the premise, the setup is simplicity itself. The film constantly engages us due to its sensitive writing as well as solid performances, and presents beautiful & heart wrenching moments. It's a film that thrills and captivates not for its originality but for the simplicity of things to happen.

Different side of LBH
madbird-6124329 December 2018
I appreciate very much the efforts of LBH to act in different genre of movies. This time it is not his familiar action film, but a drama on family love with his autistic brother. He acts equally well as a big brother. Love to see the different side of LBH.

Another Korean Tear Jerker with a stand out performance by Park Jung Min
Dviitale-128 January 2018
Once again, the great CGV Cinema in Los Angeles strikes with yet ANOTHER movie that send tears my face (1987, A TAXI DRIVER and yes, a zombie movie, the awesome TRAIN TO BUSAN)

I love just walking into that theater, not watching the trailer, reading any reviews. I use my Movie Pass and I am treated to magic! Sure, you can read what the movie is about on this page. I prefer not to and enjoy the surprises this movie presented, especially by (K Pop Star?) Park jung min, who creates a wonder performance as a stage two autistic adult.

My nitpicks: the movie is around 20 minutes too long and the last 30 minutes, a tad choppy, however, the overly journey was emotional and rewarding.

If you like great Korean cinema, check this one out as soon as you can see it. I will see again soon! Now, Im gonna watch some Park jung min videos!

Simply amazing

What a great movie. A simple story told so well, a broken family, troubled parents and troubled kids, and how they have to overcome it. All with the help of amazing performances by the actors. To top it all, a world class soundtrack. One of my favorite korean movies for sure.

A Sleeper of a Film but Well Worth Watching
danmontgomery-9854217 August 2019
You may not like heartfelt stories but the Korean gem puts forth many tugs at the heart, some obvious, some not so obvious, but in the end tells a story of family values, the human condition and how best to function in an imperfect world. Park Jung Min is a standout but all actors in this film put forth great performances that speak well to their role in the storyline. Definitely worth a watch and if you need Eng subtitles find it on drama3s

Love and forgiveness.
maksymfrost29 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is about grudge and forgiveness, about pain and love. This film isn't about music, but about something that flows into our hearts through music. I don't want to talk about the script or music in this movie. But I want to share with you one moment that probably would be missed by the majority of people who will watch the film. It's about Jo-ha and his mother. About the grudge that Jo-ha felt and the guilt that his mother felt. When he was a child she left him with his drunk father and began to live with another man. So Jo-ha couldn't forgive her for what she did. And all his life he has been bearing that feeling in his heart. But actually, he didn't know that the very evening she left him she was determined to commit suicide because her drunk husband punched her every day and she succumbed... So she was about to jump from a bridge when she had met her future husband who stopped her. So what I want to say is that if we are moved by our egoism then we don't take care of other people despite everything. I mean even if Jo-ha was given the choice to let his mother go to another man or to jump from the bridge, I'm sure that his selfish character would have chosen the latter option. But besides all this, it turned out that Jo-ha had a younger autistic brother who played the piano so a real miracle came into their lives...love and forgiveness...

Highly basic and predictable but it worked
TaylorYee9426 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The storyline is so obvious that I can see what event will be coming next. Direction is so textbook that it makes the whole movie just simple and lazy. 'Keys to the Heart' is FORCING audience to cry, and it contains a hint of tear-jerking soap opera... The thing is that it works even so. First, each character (including minor characteristics) is distinct and very needed in its position in the plot. Second, great mix of comedy and tear. I like the last few scenes after the funeral of In-sook. The director does not make it big or important. What's supposed to happen happened, so he focuses on brothers' growth after their mom is gone. Jo-ha fails at learning to smoke, and jun-tae plays his mom's favorite song. It ends with them holding hands together. Simple but powerful. Third, acting. Three main characters pull off the best performance in their own styles, three very unique styles.
