Great movie. The plot is predictable but it is always fun to watch when people do the right thing.

A juror can't decide. Therefore, he starts investigating the case. As more and more questions arise, other jurors start following him to reveal the truth.

It has funny moments as well as sad and happy moments. Watch it with your loved ones and hope you'll feel inspired to find and seed fairness in this world.

A film full of emotions! Loved it!
momotasfia12 July 2019
This film started from a such a simple form of story which matured into a heart touching one. It truly portrayed the hidden emotions and the thirst for good and just in everyday people like us. It showed that just a little will of a person can make someone's life worthwhile. This film will be with me for a really long time. I am truly in love with the makers and the brilliant actors for portraying such brilliant performances. Thank you.

other than the most Korean movies I saw
ZabicDrozda592 October 2019
Completely different from most Korean thrillers. The plot in 80% refers to the masterpiece "12 Angry Man" from 1957. However, it is different - the scenery has been expanded outside the jury room. The movie is interesting and worth watching

The Magic Of Watching "12 Angry Men" For The First Time
NewSkol8 November 2019
There are certain things that I thought are completely impossible.

First - for any mass to travel faster than the speed of light, you know, the famous equation E=MC2 sort-of proves it.

Second - to create a film either based on or inspired by the original "12 Angry Men."

( If you have not watched the original, drop whatever you are doing, watch the original. Re-watch it 15-20 times over the course of 10 years. Come back and watch Juror 8 for maximum effect )

Unfortunately, it would seem to me, that I have now been proven wrong on at least one of the two impossibilities.

To this day, I felt that any director who even thinks of attempting to re-create 12 Angry men, must be clinically insane and is willing to bet his career on the impossible (Such as the Russian "12", which is horrible. Don't waste your time).

However, not only did the director of Juror 8 beautifully re-capture the magic of the original, but he also added his own spice - humor, localization of the motives, storyline, and much more. As a result, I feel that Juror 8 is a masterpiece in its own right.

To the director: I love you and I hate you for making me both cry and laugh at the same time. However, and more importantly, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me re-experience the beauty of watching 12 Angry Men afresh. After 15+ times, it just wasn't the same anymore, and I could never capture that first original screening. Today, I have.

D.

A very heartwarming, family-oriented movie! The cast are well-selected and they acted out their roles perfectly! At curtain call, maybe, no eyes are dry in the audience! 😅 Very beautiful, indeed! Like the others in the movie, Park Hyung Sik gave an amazing and outstanding performance!😄

Enjoyable watch but less gripping than 12 Angry Men
uxoc18 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Juror 8 is, in many ways, a Korean take on 12 Angry Men. Juror 8 is the juror in 12 Angry Men that went against the grain and encouraged the other jurors to reconsider their guilty verdicts. The eight (and final) member of the jury in this movie is also the individual asking others to reassess their decision.

The main character, played by Park Hyung-sik, is a likable and inquisitive young man who we get to witness grow throughout the movie - going from a clueless citizen (regarding his knowledge about the law) to a heroic juror responsible for delivering a non-guilty verdict to the chief justice.

A recommended watch if you have already seen 12 Angry Men but if prioritize watching 12 Angry Men first you haven't already seen it.

Another lousy movie made in a progressing Korean movie industry
mailtaskservice30 June 2020
The starting was a joke, so lousy. As continue, so much bad lousy storyline goes on so I say this losuy director and lousy writer. I monitored and the actors were badly acted, not performing at all. So why some are nominated? Is it government or some bosses involvement again? The whole movie to near 20 minutes was all crap and so badly made. The script, the story, the effects, the character, and even no common sense or logic. Does Korean government court behave so monkey and no security? So illogical and no common sense director and writer. This is one of the worse Korean movie that I saw in 2020. The last 20 minutes, I though there is a turn but it lasted only 10 minutes, then again all nonsenses surface again to the end of the movie. Overall, I give this movie a NO NO to watch even its free and you have nothing to do. Its just not worth to waste time on when there are bunch of good movies and dramas everywhere in 2020. I regretted spending time on such a lousy made movie.

Brilliantl
AJ_McAninch25 May 2020
Just brilliant; the perfect film: writing, direction, and acting are all superb. I sat mesmerized by the layering of narrative, peeling back each until we get to the outcome. I'm thrilled for "Parasite" and all its awards, but there are dozens of great Korean films as good as "Parasite." This is one of them. Strongly recommended.

Entertaining and easy to follow court room drama
phd_travel22 January 2022
Entertaining and easy to follow, this Korean version of 12 Angry Men is a watchable court room drama and not as dry as the original western stage play. It's a universal story in countries with juries. Cleverly incorporating the first jury trial in Korea. Park Hyung Sik is likeable and earnest enough as the sole dissenting juror and it's from his POV that we see the trial.

Emotional
dgphrh15 August 2021
I watched this movie with zero expectations, solely because of Hyun Sik. The story was generally okay from start to 3/4, where it was I think Korea's first court with juries, hence it was an important one. & while everyone was already convinced who to vote, Hyunsik wanted to make sure he's 100% confident with his vote so they dug deeper.

BUT i think the major game changer of this movie was at the end. I didn't expect to bawl my eyes out like crAZY, it really taught me a lot and knowing that it was based on a true story made it even more emotional.

surprising reminders
parksooah-4709317 November 2023
Apart from the topic of negotiations, the movie also talks about the importance of strategic communicating, and how cognitive biases could get in the way of making decisions for the betterment of the group/individual. Many scenes show how people of different education levels / societal status are all equally exposed to cognitive biases, and how those can influence anyone to make immoral or emotional decisions. Personally, scenes with empathetic negotiations (surprisingly) seemed effective to me, as valuing emotions and validating their concerns feels like an inclusive and ethical approach that brought out cooperative sides of different characters. It is really cool that the movie is based on a real case!

Very meaningful

Warning: Spoilers
From watching this movie, I gained the insight of how objectivity leads to better decision-making. Judgment based on facts allow for fairness and personal matters should not affect one's decision-making, which is shown when juror 7 berated juror 4 for being judgmental. Juror 4 then taunted juror 7 for living in a poor neighbourhood and accused juror 7 for being biased just because they are in the same social class. However, juror 7 did not retaliate, and she calmly allowed juror 1 to continue his analysis of the case. Juror 7 did not want juror 4's comments to deviate her analysis of the case and affect her judgement. Had she reacted from juror's 4 comments, there would be personal arguments, which will cloud her judgement of the case as she will get emotional instead of being objective. This may result in a biased verdict, which is not ideal. Hence, in order to be more objective and have a clear mind to think critically, juror 7 remained calm and composed, leading to a fairer verdict given.

Touching Story
jairusho17 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Juror 8" is an absolute rollercoaster of a legal drama that had me hooked from the get-go, taking us deep into the minds of a diverse group of jurors wrestling with a high-profile case. The film doesn't just scratch the surface; it dives headfirst into the complexities of justice, morality, and prejudice.

Personally, it got me thinking about two crucial issues - how I tackle contentious issues and the way I communicate. The movie, much like real life, showcases how quick we are to judge based on appearances or pre-conceived notions. It's a reminder to take a step back, adopt a fact-driven approach, and prevent our own emotions and biases from clouding the outcome.

On another note, I loved how the film made me reflect on my own persuasion tactics. It's like a mirror, forcing me to examine the pros and cons of my communication style, which tends to lean heavily on facts. Having read books such as The Catalyst or Getting to Yes, I also had fun identifying how different characters dealt with disagreements.

All in all, "Juror 8" isn't just a movie; it's an experience. It's a compelling mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end. If you're into a good puzzle and enjoy a dash of introspection, this one's a definite recommendation from me. Happy watching!

A movie worth watching
clarissechongxh6 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is an excellent and unexpectedly touching movie that delivers more than the typical courtroom drama! It was really interesting to see how the jurors slowly changed their minds and their perception towards the case as the movie progresses. Not only was it funny, it was also very thought-provoking as you could see how the characters grapple and overcame their own moral dilemma and moral ambiguity (i.e. The blurred lines between the right and wrong, the nature of guilt and innocence, the flaws in the justice system). As the movie quotes, "When in doubt, consider the defendant's interest", once again highlighting the importance of understanding each other's interests and putting one's self other's shoes. This movie has nicely captured the essence of moral complexity, challenging my personal perception of justice and human nature as a whole. Overall, really worth the watch!

Truly a heartwarming masterpiece
darrelllimer10 November 2022
Juror 8 is not only a poignant work of entertainment, but also an accurate depiction of real-life negotiation principles. The film centres on a vaguely-presented incident where a man was suspected of killing his mother. Consequently, eight jurors were appointed to deliberate on the case and decide an appropriate judgment for the suspect.

As the title suggests, the "Juror 8" stands out as the driving force of principled negotiation in the plot, but also because of Park Hyung-Sik's solid portrayal of the earnest and tenacious character who never gave up on inventing possible solutions to the mystery and inspiring the other jurors to do likewise. While the movie gets off to a rough and laughable start, please sit through the first arc and be prepared to be awed by an exhilirating yet emotional storyline with twists in every other scene and a message of hope delivered to the hearts of audience.

Gripping movie with a heartfelt ending
keithchewjh11 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The movie 'The Juror' revolves around the case of Kim Du Sik, a middle-aged man who is put on trial for the death of his mother. While the first act of the movie focuses on the circumstances surrounding the crime and selection of the jury, the second act focuses on the discussions held between the jurors, as well as their competing ideas on whether there was sufficient evidence to convict the accused as guilty

Albeit the slightly slower pace in the first act, the movie gets off to an exciting crescendo once the negotiations between the jurors begin and their different interests and perspectives are put to the forefront. Adding to the tense negotiations were also the performances of the cast who were able to bring in a mix of poignancy and fervor through their conversations- a reflection of the complexities of the issue at hand. Overall, the movie was well executed and easy to follow with a heartfelt ending.

AMAZING!!
dewimurnibtemusa27 October 2022
I watched this movie for an assignment but ended up genuinely liking the movie! The dilemma that each character faced, the complexity of how the issue at hand is being held and the not so straightforward roles and relationship of each characters with each other are very well portrayed. How the characters negotiate and communicate with each other was also very clear to what the character's represent, and the pacing of the movie is very good. The issue at hand is in essence heavy, but the director also well in put in lighter conversations between some of the characters, which made the movie also more manageable to watch.
