During the spring of 2023, comedian and actor Rickey Smiley appeared on Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe's show "Club Shay Shay" to talk about his career, and shocked comedy film fans everywhere when he claimed that he was originally cast as the pimp Money Mike in the final film of the "Friday" trilogy, "Friday After Next." The film was his feature acting debut, but Smiley would eventually play the role of the robber Santa Claus with Katt Williams portraying Money Mike. Williams had been an established comic since the 1990s, but "Friday After Next" was his breakthrough acting role that helped put him on the map before "Wild 'n Out" made him a household name.
A wholly original comedic voice with an untouchable ability to bring honesty to even the most flamboyant characters, when Katt Williams is cast in a role ... it feels like it was written for him.

Comedian Anthony “Aj” Johnson was remembered Monday by the writers of his movie “Friday,” Ice Cube and DJ Pooh.
Shortly after news of Johnson’s death broke, Ice Cube called the late actor a “naturally funny dude who was straight outta Compton at the same time.” He added that he wished he could have brought back Johnson’s “Friday” character, Ezal, for the upcoming sequel film “Last Friday.”
Writer DJ Pooh said in a tweet, “Rest easy Aj,” while also sharing a Gif of Johnson running down the street with stolen merch in his arms, as seen in “Friday.”
Other stars also paid their respects to the late comedian, who, according to his reps, died earlier this month. No cause of death was revealed.
In addition to appearing in “Friday” in 1995, Johnson got his big break with the role of E.Z.E. in 1990’s “House Party.” His other notable...

A new report from The Wall Street Journal reveals a heated battle between Ice Cube and Warner Bros. over “Last Friday,” the fourth film in the “Friday” comedy franchise that has been in development for nearly a decade. The two parties agreed to develop “Last Friday” in 2012, with Cube reportedly to be paid $11 million. Disagreements over the script and other issues have delayed the sequel over the years.
As reported by WSJ: “Ice Cube wants Warner Bros., owned by AT&T Inc., to surrender its rights to the ‘Friday’ property and to two other movies he made there — ‘All About the Benjamins’ and ‘The Players Club.’ Warner Bros. replied, calling the demand ‘extortionate’ and saying it won’t release rights to the valuable franchise or any other Ice Cube movies.”
Much of the tension between Ice Cube and Warner Bros. outfit New Line is over the script. Ice Cube originally...

Jordanian multihyphenate Bassel Ghandour since graduating from USC film school has among other things worked closely with Kathryn Bigelow on “The Hurt Locker,” and penned and produced Naji Abu Nowar’s groundbreaking Bedouin Western “Theeb.” Now he is making a splash with his first feature as director “The Alleys,” even before its launch.
Ghandour’s multi-character tale, which is now in post, is set – and was shot – in a claustrophobic neighborhood in East Amman called Jabal Al Natheef where violence, and gossip, run rampant. “The Alleys” involves a young hustler named Ali who pretends to be a white-collar career man, his secret love interest Lana, and an extortion attempt that brings Lana’s mother and an older cutthroat gangster into the picture. The promising pic just scored several prizes at the Cairo Film Festival’s Cairo Film Connection co-production market.

Jason Voorhees, the Friday The 13th masked mass murderer who has terrorized horny teenagers at camp sites for generations, has had many faces. This is both a credit to the various makeup artists designing Jason’s gruesome face and the performers wearing those makeups beneath that iconic hockey mask. This Friday the 13th holiday, we rank the latter. The top Jason will be pretty obvious to most Friday fiends… but how does the rest of this list shake out?
We should note that the Friday The 13th franchise also sports three major non-Jason serial killer characters, in the original Friday The 13th, Friday The 13th Part V: A New Beginning (although Jason does make a tiny cameo in both of these films), and of course Freddy Vs. Jason. These rankings will comprise the actual Jasons only.
Child Jasons will be mentioned along with their adult counterparts’ individual entries, except in...
