Quotes

  • Dominick Carisi Jr. : An oh-fer. We'd have better luck starting the Byron Marks fan club.

Olivia Benson : Well, look, it's upsetting, but it's not surprising.

Amanda Rollins : Yeah, I tried to explain that to him.

Dominick Carisi Jr. : Look, I know. I'm sorry. It's just I'm Italian. Revenge is one of our three major food groups.

  • Rafael Barba : Is there a limitations problem?

Odafin Tutuola : The rapes were forcible. He used an eight-inch blade.

Olivia Benson : He fled the jurisdiction before the lab could test his DNA.

Rafael Barba : Are there any problems with the arrest?

Odafin Tutuola : I thought we were supposed to be on the same team.

Rafael Barba : Do you know how many six-year-old cases dry up, turn to dust, and blow to the four corners by a reasonably competent defense attorney?

Odafin Tutuola : Not this one.

  • Noah Benson : I don't wanna go.

Olivia Benson : Come on, Noah. School is fun, right? You got... you got Teddy with you. You're all good.

Noah Benson : Lucy wouldn't make me go. I wish she was my mommy.

Olivia Benson : What did you say?

Noah Benson : I wish Lucy was my mommy.

Olivia Benson : Well, kiddo, looks like you're stuck with me.

  • Odafin Tutuola : Guess what I caught. A couple of snapper, a sailfish, and one fat-assed flounder.

    Amanda Rollins : Damn.

Dominick Carisi Jr. : Bottom feeder, huh?

Amanda Rollins : Raped three women that we know about, and then he bolted before we could arrest him.

Byron Marks : Most people just call me Byron.

Odafin Tutuola : Didn't I tell you to shut your face? The whole way home, he's yapping about old times.

Byron Marks : Detective Benson. How are you?

Olivia Benson : A lot better now. I hope.

Odafin Tutuola : Yeah. There he was just strolling down the pier in Havana. Didn't even put up a fight.

Olivia Benson : Okay. Interrogation one.

Byron Marks : I look forward to catching up.

  • Byron Marks : Did I tell you how much I missed you, Detective Benson?

    Olivia Benson : It's Lieutenant.

Byron Marks : Good for you.

Olivia Benson : You missed me so much, maybe you shouldn't have run.

Byron Marks : Ah, well, when the wanderlust strikes, a man simply has no choice.

Olivia Benson : And the three women that you raped, they didn't have much choice, either.

Byron Marks : This is what makes life worth living. The verbal give and take, the push and pull; the heave and ho keeps a man on his toes.

Olivia Benson : Well, had you stuck around for another twenty-four hours, you'd know that your DNA matches all three victims.

Byron Marks : I've always had a good sense of timing.

Olivia Benson : I should wipe that smug right off your face. You shattered the lives of three innocent human beings.

Byron Marks : [standing up and getting in her face]  And I suppose your sanctimonious crap fills their days...

Olivia Benson : [waving down Carisi and Rollins]  Okay.

Byron Marks : ...with sunshine and light! Now, let me guess. You sent them cards on Christmas for two years. Three, tops. But then you got a little busy. Who doesn't? So you said to yourself "You know what? I'll make sure I hit their birthdays this year. They'll appreciate that more." But this and that came up. A PBA conference here, a... a co-op meeting there. And these three devastated human beings disappeared from your thoughts like a puff of smoke in a windstorm.

  • Byron Marks : The sun will come up tomorrow, and you'll have another victim or two to empty that goopy stuff you're pouring out of your heart.

    Olivia Benson : You done?

    Byron Marks : For now.

Olivia Benson : 'Cause it seems like you've... you've really given that a lot of thought.

Byron Marks : Well, thanks to you, I've had a lot of time.

Olivia Benson : So, we've got you cold, Mr. Marks. How about you confess, hmm? Save us all a lot of time?

Byron Marks : I suppose this is where I ask for a lawyer.

Amanda Rollins : What happened to the old heave and ho?

Byron Marks : Time and place, detective. Time and place.

  • Olivia Benson : Next time, you'd better tell me before you pull something like this.

Odafin Tutuola : I didn't know it was legal.

Olivia Benson : Well, that's comforting.

Odafin Tutuola : Come on, Liv. This is Byron Marks, okay? I can live with a little mud on my face.

Olivia Benson : But I can't. While I'm sitting in the big office, we do things the right way, the legal way.

Odafin Tutuola : Like you didn't want Marks as much as I did.

Olivia Benson : We screwed up the first time, didn't we? We waited too long to arrest him. And now, I need to go home and teach my son that lying is a bad thing.

  • Rafael Barba : Did she at least think he was going to assault her?

    Olivia Benson : No.

Rafael Barba : Did he break in?

Olivia Benson : He was already inside by the time I got there. So I'll take Karla's statement first thing in the morning. We will keep him overnight for attempted witness tampering. At least that way we can be sure that he'll be in court tomorrow.

Rafael Barba : If only to file false imprisonment charges.

    Olivia Benson : Yeah.

Rafael Barba : What the hell, maybe you should have let her shoot him. That was a joke.

Olivia Benson : I told her to point a loaded gun at me. I have a kid, Rafael. What was I thinking?

  • Brian Cassidy : Hey, Liv.

Olivia Benson : This is a surprise.

Brian Cassidy : Yeah. I was in... I was in the neighborhood. I figured you owe me a cup of coffee.

Olivia Benson : Oh, I do, but unfortunately, now is, uh, is not a great time.

    Brian Cassidy : Oh.

Olivia Benson : But how are you? I heard you moved to Florida.

Brian Cassidy : Yeah. Can you believe that?

Olivia Benson : How's that early bird special treating you?

Brian Cassidy : Oh, that's funny. That's good stuff, Liv. I don't know, you know, truth be told, after hitting a dozen balls into the lake on the 16th in Forest Park, I realized that, um, retirement was not my thing. You know?

Olivia Benson : I get it.

Brian Cassidy : Yeah, I knew you would. The D.A.'s office, they were looking for an investigator, so, uh... ta da.

Olivia Benson : Good for you.

Brian Cassidy : Yeah. On the job six weeks, and I caught a child abuse case.

    Olivia Benson : Oh.

Brian Cassidy : And, uh, SVU had to recuse themselves.

    Olivia Benson : That's odd.

Brian Cassidy : Yeah, actually, uh, not really, Liv. We're investigating you.

  • Olivia Benson : Listen, you did the right thing, Noah. But if anybody asks you about that bruise, you tell them what happened, but you gotta tell them the whole story, okay?

  • Olivia Benson : Are you still sticking to the coincidence story?

Odafin Tutuola : No reason to change it now.

Olivia Benson : You know, I just find it a little hard to believe that with all the police and the FBI resources, plus the U.S. Marshals, that you happen to just stumble upon Marks sitting on a pier in Havana.

Odafin Tutuola : I'd rather be lucky than good.

Olivia Benson : So what shocks me is that he didn't put up a fight.

Odafin Tutuola : I may have had a little help.

Olivia Benson : Should I ask who?

Odafin Tutuola : Better you don't.

  • Olivia Benson : I got called into Noah's school today about this mysterious bruise on his arm.

Amanda Rollins : Maybe he fell off the swings.

Olivia Benson : That's what I said, but apparently Noah told the school nurse a different story.

Amanda Rollins : Noah said that you...?

Olivia Benson : Yeah. I have no idea what's going on. I don't know if he's mad, if he's acting out, but...

    Amanda Rollins : I'm sure it's nothing.

Olivia Benson : Yeah, me too. It's just so weird. The whole time she's asking me questions, all I could think of is "I'm the one who asks the questions."

Amanda Rollins : Hmm. You know you're a good mom, Liv. So if anyone says different, they'll have to answer to me.

    Olivia Benson : Thank you.

  • Rafael Barba : Where's Fin?

Olivia Benson : He's gone for the night. Why?

Rafael Barba : Well, I just found out why he showed up at Marks' arraignment. So, uh, defense counsel, the always entertaining Randy Dworkin, just filed a motion to dismiss the charges against Byron Marks.

Olivia Benson : Is it viable?

Rafael Barba : I don't know. Did Detective Tutuola kidnap Mr. Marks or not?

Olivia Benson : What if he did?

    Rafael Barba : We're screwed.

  • Olivia Benson : So, Noah, I saw Ms. Smiley today, and she said that you told the school nurse that I gave you that bruise.

    Noah Benson : She asked.

Olivia Benson : Noah, we talked about telling the truth, remember?

Noah Benson : I did tell the truth.

Olivia Benson : I gave you that?

    Noah Benson : Yeah.

    Olivia Benson : When?

Noah Benson : When the taxi almost hit me, remember?

  • Karla Wyatt : [When Karla has Byron Marks at gunpoint]  He took my life. I bought three tangerines and two apples and a watermelon, and he took my life.

Olivia Benson : Karla, that's gonna feel good for maybe a day, for maybe... maybe a week. But the difference is, Karla, this time, the hurt's gonna come back and you are gonna be behind bars, okay?
