Sex & Nudity

  • A woman jokingly comments that a man's genitals are small enough that he only has to use one hand to urinate. The man makes a crude gesture back at her. The man is then briefly shown off by himself urinating. He is facing away from the camera, so nothing is shown.

Violence & Gore

  • When an alien creature comes up from beneath the ground, the tremors cause a man in a wheelchair to fall down a hill. He is shown with a bloody nose and a few other minor injuries.
  • Flying alien creatures that resemble dragons attack cities and aircraft throughout the film. They breathe fire or energy, which destroys many buildings and fighter planes and choppers. Few deaths are shown in detail, but it is stated that many people have been killed. None of the attack scenes have much, if any, gore.
  • A building collapses, injuring a couple people. Again, there is not much gore.
  • Fighter planes shoot at the aliens, sometimes injuring them. The aliens fight back, killing some of the pilots.
  • The film follows several disabled veterans. While their injuries occurred before the film takes place, they sometimes talk about what happened, and they are shown using prosthetic limbs, wheelchairs, and crutches as a result of these injuries.
  • While attacking a plane, an alien creature injures itself. Some blood is shown on the ground, and the creature is seen later with an open, bleeding wound.

Profanity

  • 1 GD, some other misuses of God and Jesus's names, and a few B, S, H, D, and A words. The phrase "pissed off" is used several times, and "piss" is used briefly as a crude term for urination. The middle finger is also used once.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • When the alien creatures are first born from their spores, they look like worms or snakes slithering around. They then converge to form a larger creature. This may be disturbing for some, but it is shown rather quickly.
  • The alien creatures may look scary to younger audiences. They resemble dragons and are quite evil looking, but the special effects are very unrealistic.
  • A father and daughter have a strained relationship. There are a few emotional scenes because of this.
  • Many likeable characters face death when fighting the aliens. This may be intense for some viewers.
  • There is a prolonged scene where it is unclear whether a prominent character is alive or dead.
  • A paralyzed man is trapped in a vehicle with an alien coming toward him.
  • The scene where the soldiers find an alien's nesting ground might be intense for younger viewers.
