Facing vices, a test of faith a good spin of temptation.
blanbrn10 September 2017
This episode 7 of "Room 104" from season 1 called "The Missionaries" is one that teaches a message of free will and dealing with fate and choices. Two young men who are Mormons check into room 104 and talk and face life while dealing with living the life and dealing with sin. As you can tell each are dealing with things like facing drinking alcohol and enjoying porn things that are clearly out of character for both! Thru it all both try their best thru talk and trying to remember religion and it's history of redemption and sin to get thru as really it's just a test of faith and trying to live right while facing a world of vices. Overall well done episode that is a spin on temptation and moral choices as it proves life is a challenge even for those of faith and believe as will power and determination is always a test.

The Missionaries Positions
safenoe3 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Adam Foster plays Noah and Nat Wolff plays Joseph in The Missionaries, from the first season of Room 104. The ending kind of had an afterlife twist to it, and you almost felt empathy for the missionaries as they struggle their way through temptation together in Room 104 of a non-descript motel (in real life the room is filmed in a studio).

Anyway, all credit to the actors for keeping us entertained in this episode that kind of sets the tone for Room 104 whatever that is, quirky, supernatural, suspenseful, Twilight Zoneish, Black Mirroresque, Tales from the Unexpected, Tales from the Darkside.

Coffee Is Not a Sin to Drink.
nammage17 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Did you know that coffee is not actually a sin to drink in the Mormon church? It's implied through the Book of Wisdom. Doctrines and Convenante 89:9 says specifically "hot drinks". That means you can drink any caffeinated beverage cold and be just fine. Funnily enough the next verse states what one can consume and it mentions "flesh" but isn't specific to what 'flesh' one can't eat which could imply that eating human flesh is okay.

I always find it humorous when people think bad of themselves because of minor tribulations that everyone typically goes through. Religion/Non-Religion--everyone experiences similar things. No one is really dofferent, and we're all basically the same. Some have better lives, sure, some have worse, but in the end if you think drinking hot beverages is the worst thing based on the dictations stipulated by your religion then perhaps you're blind to the world and not the world is blind.

Just saying.

This episode is basically two young men who are missionaries and going through what normal young men go through when others consistently remind them that doing things not on the path is bad and they feel bad about it and the vast majority of these missionaries end up perpetuating the cycle never really changing anything and never really delving deep into that philosophical viewpoint they once had.
