It's what you expect it to be

You go into watching a film like this generally knowing what to expect. It's not great art but, for a teen dance film, it's enjoyable.

Hip-hop dancer Fabian Svegaard Tapia is a terrific dancer and, I have to say, doesn't do a bad job on the acting either. On top of that he's very very easy on the eyes, with a pleasant amount of charisma and intensity about him. Lisa Tiege isn't dreadful either. They do have a good chemistry and their final dance scene together I found very expressive and intense, aided by a really good song, haunting with great lyrics (Youth by Daughter).

All-in-all I enjoyed it. but then I'm a bit of a closet teen romance kind of woman; perhaps I never grew out of the brat pack phase despite my advancing years! Throw in some good dancing and I'm content.

These kind of movies never really get good ratings, but...

I think theyre exactly what they should be. They make you feel stuff, they make you cringe and they make you smile. Thats what these kind of movies are supposed to be for me. And Battle did the job well. I do not expect a masterpiece in storytelling and visuals in these kind of movies. Yes it could've been done better, but it did what it had to for me to recieve the 7 star rating. Well done.

It tells the story of a modern dancer, when her father went bankrupt, her life changes completely. Then she meets a hip-hop dancer who helps her discover who is she.

This is a Netflix original movie, and it's my first time watching a Norwegian film. It was a good experience.

The movie was great, I did love it, and especially the relationship between Mikael ans Amalie, hence it was a predictable one, but it was so passionate.

The acting was pretty good, the dancing was enjoyable.

Well, I know it's a typical romance-dance-teen movie, but I loved it anyways.

I do recommend it, you should give it a try!

its a battle party

I want all of you to remember that im an old grumpy man, but i liked the mood and moves of this dancing hip-hop style movie.i did like to dance myself ,and that made me last through the whole movie.

its about rich vs poor, west versus east(of the city), modern vs freestyle , posh vs trash and so on. as a former swimming coach i recon the worthyness of not going too ''special'' to meet the goals , rather use all the opportunities of physical workout from other sports or styles or activities to become a better and fitter performer of your speciality. loosen up may make you become the best

the lovestory, being drawn between the rich and the poor have been played out in thousands of film, on a low budget production like this its pretty good performed and directed, the editing are good, the filming couldve been more advanced especially if using fly over camera rigs or even a dronecam would have ignited more energy out of the dancing. also letting the cast speak their own language with subtitles are very nice. dont mess with language ,its a great part of the culture. the cast are surprisingly good, at international standard really.

i grew up with hip hop myself,and i liked to freestyle myself on the dance floor, though 80'ish style it was,but mygod i liked it and it made me even better as a competition swimmer , so go out and dans,dans,dans, till the battle is done.

i recomend this film for the good message and a well told lovestory vs people and vs dancing......

Your typical average romance movie

As cliche as it gets. The only thing that got me going was the story of how her life was falling apart because of her father's bad decisions...which wasn't at all the focus of the movie and was introduced just to be left incomplete and without answers or a conclusion. Her dancing was bad...just bad. Completely predictable, poor character development and with an ending where suddenly she goes from hated to loved because she stepped on stage and did some average dancing. That's it! But not much can be expected from these types of movies. It was half fun, half boring. Enough to entertain a bit but overall very mediocre which is what a 6/10 represents to me.

Dance

For some people dancing is a battle. If it is ballet, movies have tought us that it most definitely is. Then again, you also have the rap battles or rather the dance battles to hip hop music. This is a decent effort to bring those two together and mix a love story in there too.

It may not be the best movie about dancing and the struggle people have with it, but the characters work and the movie has the suspension to hold this until the end. The music is really good and the choreography does the rest. If you don't mind that, you will have a decent movie in front of you

There are others dance movies that are better that this one, but it wasn't that bad. I didn't get bored. So, if you don't have anything better to watch, watch it. :)

I don't know how this has good reviews. As a dancer I can tell you the dancing is ridiculous and terrible. Not only that but NONE of the characters are likable, especially the main character. Save 2 hours of our life and watch something else.

Love, dance and great ambience - movie in three words

Tottaly love the movie because of its atmosphere in the Norway and story of girl from rich family and rich hood move to the typical European housing estate. All that dancing in the movie is just background of love of two young people that are enjoying dance in common. Father bankrupt and young girl have to settle up with whole situation and that's not even all. She find new boy which she likes but she have already one boyfriend in her old hood in her school and she's keeping this secret until the moment when Mikael (new boy) goes to the party and meet up with Aksel (boyfriend/ex) and in that moment she lost both of them. She decides to try her luck with Mikael but it's not that easy. She's facing him in the dance battle in which he is totally beast however she try hard and she will match him after all they they get together. See yaa at the next review Marko

Lacklustre story about a selfish, childish woman

The main character is selfish and entitled. Has no dancing skill. Cheats on boyfriend with a commoner, lies to both, learns nothing, apologises to the commoner via pretty poor modern dance routine, all is forgiven. Then end.

A beautiful ending

Battle has its clichés but it works emotionally. The juxtaposition of social classes in Battle is built with the usual caricatures: the wealthy appear vain, jealous and competitive while the regular people seen warmhearted, social and empathetic.

Despite the simplifications, the main characters feel authentic and the story has a pleasant, slow and believable space. A lot of the story takes place within the characters.

The final dance scene is very emotionally captivating and a beautiful finale to an otherwise slowly-evolving movie.

A plain movie with pointless acts

It's definitely less than what I expected and I can say that it's very "plain". The main character's acts were pointless. It was almost like she's doing things to have something going on in the movie.

What an awful movie. There is no point in watching this. Makes no sense. Don't waste your time.

You could say it's a teen movie like any other, but only this movie tries to address adult issues like money worries.

This is one of those movies that you can impose at a time when you really have no idea what you want to watch. I started watching with no expectations and was very surprised by the storyline.

The story tells the story of a young couple dealing with money problems. It's such a typical story where one person has their life on point and the other person struggles to move forward in life. One person helps another. There are many scenes of weeping and eventually they form a couple.

You could say it's a teen movie like any other, but only this movie tries to address adult issues like money worries.

Seriously, it can hardly be worse than this.

Spoiled girl dances but has no compassion for others

Superficial story about an upper class dancing student whose father loses all of his wealth. She is thrown into very different circumstances. During this huge change in her life she shows 0 compassion or concern for her father or anyone but herself and her own interests.She misleads two lovers at the same time, ignores her father's struggle and lives as she always has- the center of her own world. She is the focus of the story and as she has no depth of character or is even likable, the movie is shallow as well. Great dancing, but there are other movies with excellent dancing and a singular group of growing, thinking, struggling feeling, caring people. If you want to watch some dancing without much content, this is OK.

I was not let down. It was what I expected it to be but half way thought I lost interest, I kept watching and it was worth it. Loved it the actors are amazing at dancing and good at acting. Would definitely watch again.

I usually like films from Norway, but I'm having trouble getting through this one. About halfway done and debating whether to continue. Slow and plodding. Nothing new or anything that I'm connecting with. Too long for what it is.

Predictable from start to finish, the dances are utterly boring to the point where I was walking around the room, the acting isn't great. The camera work isn't good either, and I think they need to look up what makes a dance battle exciting cause that ending was anticlimactic as hell.. Overall not something I would recommend watching.

It's just brilliant. It's a beautiful story told so well. So engaging and raw. No glitter and sparkle just real people in a real situation with a beautiful message of love and acceptance running through it. Just brilliant!

All I have to say is this movie has been done in 2001, and it was so much better! It's called "Save the Last Dance." And it was original back then. Don't waste your time on this. Next...

Truly Ruly soooooo bad

The dancing in this movie is very awkward. Much of it looks like a toddler flapping around like a drunk duck. The characters are super unlikable and the story predictable. The climax falls totally flat. Very very sad as the film seemed like it had potential in the first few minutes.

Cringe worthy dancing

I was looking for a dance movie. I found this and i was like why not. I saw the trailer and i decided to watch it. I didn't regret that. It became my favourite (dance) movie. To me the whole movie was so emotional, the dancers were great. What i loved the most i think is that it had all of the main dance styles: contemporary, hip hop, popping and the best... Break dance. I loved so much this film! The protagonist was great too. ;) <3
