A very informative documentary with a personal touch

Having Aspergers syndrome myself, I really admired how much research went into this doc as well as how it balanced the perspectives of both people on the spectrum as well as neurotypical family members who are affected by it. There's immense care given to discussing this topic and I can see this being very useful for educating the public on a topic so few people try to understand.

As far as filmmaking goes, there's a lot of restraint in terms of the style and editing. While I would usually find this to be a flaw, I have to take into account that visual flare and unique editing isn't what the filmmaker had in mind and that the main goal is to raise awareness on an important topic. That restraint is the sign of mature filmmaker whose main focus is the importance of the film itself rather than showing off for the sake of it.

Skeptical of these documentaries and found another bad one

Warning: Spoilers
First of all it is a bit off putting when the 1st 2 autistic people shown are white boys when more needs to be documented on other genders as well as BIPOC.

Then got angry at the support of ABA therapy. ABA is abuse. It works in the same way as gay conversion therapy in that it forces the person to become neurotypical when that is impossible. Later in life many survivors of ABA experience extreme PTSD and get confused about their own identity.

If anyone wants to fully understand autism and autistic people then instead of watching this, follow the hastag actuallyautistic on social media sites. These will be accounts from autistic adults of all backgrounds.
