This film takes you into the mind of a black person dealing with fears, relationships and formative years. Well crafted in its delivery and portrayal of a young black man in his mid twenties searching for redemption as well as a place to let his emotional walls down. Unable to do so within his personal relationships, the main character seeks redemption another way to still no avail. This story is easy to follow, filled with nuances and coded analogies which reflect and deflect Christianity as both a form of freedom for one character while mental slavery for another. The concept of race prevails, subtle, but in the most personal way between two lovers when one doesn't understand the others trauma and fears. This is a dramatic piece, well worthy of a 9 out of 10 because of its artistic, philosophical and unexpected literary conceptualization of what one could consider real time events.
