Why Do the Warboys Spray Their Mouths in Mad Max: Fury Road? - Main Image
With Furiosa coming to theaters soon, it’s a great time to look back at the previous Mad Max film, especially as there are still many mysteries about that film’s characters and world. One such mystery is why the warboys spray their mouths during the various Mad Max: Fury Road chase sequences.
As Fury Road is not an exposition-heavy movie, a lot of its world-building is done visually, meaning the chrome-spraying of the warboys isn’t exactly explained.
Based on what we can glean from the film though, the color of the spray may hold the key to understanding this ritual.
Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for Mad Max: Fury Road, so proceed with caution.

A consumer privacy lawsuit seeking at least $5 billion in damages over allegations Google tracked users who thought they were browsing the internet privately has been settled. No terms have been disclosed.
The”incognito” mode on Google’s Chrome browser still followed users, as emails revealed during the trial proved. The data was used to sell ads.
The judge in the case confirmed a preliminary agreement to settle the class action lawsuit, originally filed in 2020.
Lawyers were seeking at least $5,000 for each member of the class that had been tracked by the firm’s Google Analytics or Ad Manager services while not logged into their Google account.
The settlement came just weeks after Google was refused a request that the case be decided by a judge. A California jury trial was set to begin next year.

As Google celebrates its 25th birthday this month, its CEO Sundar Pichai has reminisced about how technology has changed the way we communicate, create and innovate. Celebrating Google’s rich history of events (the company will officially celebrate its 25th birthday later this month), Pichai said it’s time for some gratitude, and a moment to reflect.
“Years ago, when I was studying in the US, my dad — who was back in India — got his first email address. I was really excited to have a faster (and cheaper) way to communicate with him, so I sent a message.
“And then I waited…and waited. It was two full days before I got this reply Dear Mr. Pichai, email received. All is well,” he wrote late on Tuesday.
Fast forward to a few months ago.
“I was with my teenage son. He saw something interesting, took some quick pictures and shared them with his friends.

San Francisco, Sep 3 (Ians) Tech giant Google, which turns 25 on Monday, has come a long way from being born as a search engine in the garage of Susan Wojcicki — the future boss of YouTube — in a new tech landscape of generative AI, chatbots and social media.

San Francisco, Aug 16 (Ians) Google’s AI-powered Search Generative Experience (Sge) is getting a major new feature, which will summarise articles for users while reading on the web.
Currently, the feature — “Sge while browsing” is in the experiment phase.
“When you’re trying to understand the ins and outs of a new topic, you often need to digest long or complex web pages, and it’s not always easy to hone in on specific details. So starting today, we’re launching an early experiment in Search Labs called “Sge while browsing”, available in the Google app on Android and iOS, and coming to Chrome on desktop in the days ahead,” Google said in a blogpost on Tuesday.
If users have access to the Google app on mobile, the company will pull up AI-generated “key points” from an article when they tap the icon at the bottom.

San Francisco, Aug 16 (Ians) X, formerly known as Twitter, has limited traffic to certain websites disliked by its owner, Elon Musk, by slowing down the speed of accessing links.
The websites included The New York Times, Instagram, Bluesky, Threads, Substack, among others, reports TechCrunch, citing sources.
On Tuesday, the platform seemed to be correcting this delayed access to websites.
There was a five-second delay in the web pages loading after clicking on links to these websites on X.
In the past, Musk had publicly attacked each of these websites.
Musk and X were potentially taking away traffic and ad revenue from these companies, by delaying traffic to the websites.
Users can become impatient when content doesn’t load within a second or two, which can have an impact on the traffic to a website.

San Francisco, July 6 (Ians) Google has released the monthly security updates for the Android operating system, which come with fixes for 46 vulnerabilities, along with the fix for three actively exploited bugs.
“There are indications that the following (vulnerabilities) may be under limited, targeted exploitation — Cve-2023-26083, Cve-2021-29256, and Cve-2023-2136,” reads Android Security Bulletin.
According to BleepingComputer, Cve-2023-26083 is a medium-severity memory leak flaw in the Arm Mali Gpu driver for Bifrost, Avalon, and Valhall chips that was exploited in a December 2022 exploit chain that delivered spyware to Samsung devices.
Cve-2021-29256 is a critical (Cvss v3.1: 8.8) unprivileged information disclosure and root privilege escalation vulnerability that affects specific versions of the Bifrost and Midgard Arm Mali Gpu kernel drivers.
The third vulnerability, Cve-2023-2136, is a critical-severity one with a score of 9.6 out of 10 as it is an integer overflow bug in Skia, Google’s open-source multi-platform...

San Francisco, June 10 (Ians) Google has issued a security update for the Chrome web browser to address the third zero-day vulnerability exploited by hackers this year. “Google is aware that an exploit for Cve-2023-3079 exists in the wild,” Google said in a blogpost.
The company has not released details about the exploit and how it was used in attacks, instead focusing on the severity and type of flaw.
“Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third-party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed,” the company said.

New Delhi, May 26 (Ians) Google has started to open up access to new generative AI capabilities in Search as part of early experiments as announced during the companys event two weeks ago.
The company said those already signed up for the waitlist will be notified by email when they can start testing Search Labs experiments, like Sge (Search Generative Experience), Code Tips and Add to Sheets in the US.

San Francisco, April 27 (Ians) In an effort to protect users from cyberattacks, Google has blocked the notorious CryptBot malware, which the company claims have stolen data from hundreds of thousands of Chrome browser users in the past year.
According to the company, CryptBot is a type of malware often referred to as an ‘infostealer’ because it is designed to identify and steal sensitive information from victims’ computers such as authentication credentials, social media account logins, cryptocurrency wallets, and more.
CryptBot then sends the stolen data to be harvested and eventually sold to bad actors to use in data breach campaigns.
Moreover, Google stated that the malware was spread through maliciously modified apps such as Google Chrome and Google Earth Pro. The malware has infected approximately 6,70,000 computers this past year and targeted users of Google Chrome to steal their data.

San Francisco, April 25 (Ians) Google Authenticator has received a new update on both iOS and Android, which adds the ability to safely backup users’ one-time codes (or one-time passwords or OTPs) to their Google Account.
“With this update we’re rolling out a solution to this problem, making one-time codes more durable by storing them safely in users’ Google Account. This change means users are better protected from the lockout and that services can rely on users retaining access, increasing both convenience and security,” Google said in a blogpost on Monday.
In 2010, the tech giant released Google Authenticator as a free and easy way for sites to add “something you have” two-factor authentication (2Fa) that bolsters user security when signing in.
Moreover, to enhance the security of online authentication, Google has been promoting a variety of options in addition to one-time codes from Authenticator.

San Francisco, Feb 11 (Ians) Google’s latest Chrome beta version includes a trial for a feature that could enhance the browser’s picture-in-picture feature significantly and make it more useful.
The tech giant is considering allowing it to display virtually any web content in a floating window that stays on top of all users’ other windows, rather than just for playing videos, reports The Verge.
This feature, known as Document Picture-in-Picture, can be useful in a variety of ways.
There are some examples that Google gives based on how picture-in-picture already works, for example, video players that have custom UIs, or mini players for video conferences that show a grid of participants and allow you to mute yourself or raise your hand, according to the report.
The company also suggests the feature could be used to show a playlist for your music.

San Francisco, Feb 4 (Ians) Tech giant Google is reportedly working on a new feature for Chrome which will allow users to erase the last 15 minutes of browsing data, on Android.
A new flag was found in Chrome for Android which indicated that the tech giant is working on a new feature called “quick delete”, reports Android Authority.
The new feature is likely to be available from the overflow menu located where the three vertical dots are in the top right corner.
However, it is still unclear whether the data being wiped would simply be browser history or all account activity, the report said.
In July 2021, the company had rolled out a similar feature to its mobile application, allowing users to instantly delete the last 15 minutes of browsing history.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, it was reported that the tech giant was working on a new way to easily translate text within images in Chrome.

San Francisco, Feb 1 (Ians) Tech giant Google is reportedly working on a new way to easily translate text within images in Chrome.
The information came from the Chrome feature researcher Leopeva64, reports Android Police.
The new image translation tool is not released yet, not even in Chrome Beta or Canary, as it is still under development.
Currently, Chrome allows the translation of entire web pages by just right-clicking on the desktop or tapping the menu button on mobile, then selecting the “Translate” option.
However, this does not work directly on posters, banners and other embedded images in web pages.
With the new feature, users will likely be able to right-click any images that contain text from a foreign language and choose the “Image translate” option to translate it, the report said.
Meanwhile, last week, it was reported that the tech giant is scrapping Chrome’s screenshot editing feature, after months of development.

San Francisco, Jan 29 (Ians) Tech giant Google is reportedly scrapping its Chrome’s screenshot editing feature, after months of development.
The tech giant began developing a tool for editing screenshots directly in the desktop browser more than a year ago, reports Android Police.
The report mentioned that after months of development, this feature, which was first introduced in Chrome Canary version 98, seemed intended to be released outside of its feature flag as a tool accessible to all users.
According to Chromium changes made earlier this week, the screenshot tool is expected to vanish, at least in its current form.
A series of commits made by engineers on the Chromium Gerrit, where updates to Chrome’s open-source code base are submitted, entirely removed the screenshot editing feature from the browser.
It usually takes around 10 weeks for commits in Chromium to make their way to Chrome stable, the report said.

San Francisco, Jan 28 (Ians) Google has introduced a new AI system called – “MusicLM” that can generate high-fidelity music in any genre given a text description.
However, the company is fearing the risks, and has no immediate plans to release it, reports TechCrunch.
Google isn’t the first to try generative AI for songs, as there have been other attempts, including Riffusion, an AI that composes music by visualising it, as well as Dance Diffusion, Google’s own AudioML and OpenAI’s Jukebox.
But due to technical constraints and limited training data, none of them has been able to produce songs that are particularly complex in composition or high fidelity.
MusicLM is perhaps the first that can, said the report.
MusicLM was trained on a dataset of 2,80,000 hours of music to learn to generate coherent songs for descriptions of “significant complexity”, as described in an academic paper by US-based Cornell University.

San Francisco, Jan 24 (Ians) Microsoft is reportedly testing a new split-screen feature for Edge that will let users compare two tabs side-by-side.
The feature was discovered by a Reddit user named Leopeva64-2 and is now available in the beta, dev, and canary versions of Microsoft Edge with an experimental flag, reports The Verge.
Once the feature becomes enabled, a new button will appear alongside the address bar, letting users split an Edge window into two separate tabs side-by-side.
Windows already allows you to compare tabs next to each other by dragging the tab to the right or left of the screen and using the built-in Windows split view, but doing this is fiddly unless you drag the tab all the way there, said the report.
This built-in split view in Edge makes it easier in a single click, without having to re-arrange your tabs or open up a new window of a browser.

A recommended fine of €4.1B (4.1B) has been imposed by the European Court of Justice on Google, upholding almost all of the European Commission’s recent ruling.
In the past few minutes, the Court said it has confirmed the decision that Google imposed “unlawful restrictions on manufacturers of Android mobile devices and mobile network operators in order to consolidate the dominant position of its search engine.”
The fine is a slightly lower recommendation than that of the Commission and the European Court of Justice said this “reflects the gravity and duration of the infringement.”
Google owner Alphabet had already lost a challenge against a €2.4B fine last year but can still appeal this latest decision.
In its initial 2018 decision, the Commission accused Google of illegally forcing handset makers to install the Google Search app and the Chrome browser as a condition for licensing its Play Store, making payments to some...

New Delhi, Aug 31 (Ians) Google has launched a new bug bounty programme where it will award up to 31,337 (nearly Rs 25 lakh) to researchers who spot vulnerabilities in the company’s Open Source projects.
Depending on the severity of the vulnerability and the project’s importance, rewards will range from 100 to 31,337.
The larger amounts will also go to unusual or particularly interesting vulnerabilities, “so creativity is encouraged,” said Google while launching its Open Source Software Vulnerability Rewards Programme (Oss Vrp).
As the maintainer of major projects such as Golang, Angular, and Fuchsia, Google is among the largest contributors and users of open source in the world.
Last year, Google saw a 650 per cent year-over-year increase in attacks targeting the open source supply chain.
With the addition of Google’s own vulnerability reward programme (Vrp), researchers can now be rewarded for finding bugs that could potentially impact the entire open source ecosystem.

New Delhi, Aug 29 (Ians) Google Assistant has replaced “Whats on my screen?” button with a Lens-branded shortcut that is now being called “Search this screen” by some Pixel users.
Compared to “What’s on my screen,” the existing Lens button does not appear every time Google Assistant is invoked.
A Reddit user who has Pixel 6 Pro said that some time after “what’s on my screen?” was killed unceremoniously and without explanation by Google, they added a “Lens” button on the Assistant pop up, but not everywhere, and depending on context.
It shows up in Chrome and Twitter (alongside “Read”), but availability is hit or miss in third-party apps.
Now, “Search this screen” button is appearing in Assistant on Android.
Tapping should capture the current screen and let you access the Translate, Text, Search, Homework, Shopping, Places, and Dining filters, reports 9to5Google.

New Delhi, Feb 7 (Ians) A cyber security researcher has discovered a malicious Google Chrome extension in the wild abusing the Chrome Sync process that can help hackers steal user data.
Hackers can use the Google Chrome sync feature to send commands to infected browsers and steal data from infected systems, bypassing traditional firewalls and other network defenses.
Croatian security researcher Bojan Zdrnja found a malicious Chrome extension that can communicate with a remote command and control (C&c) server and as a way to exfiltrate data from infected browsers, reports ZDNet.
Chrome sync is a feature of the Chrome web browser that stores copies of a user's Chrome bookmarks, browsing history, passwords, and browser and extension settings on Google's cloud servers.
According to Zdrnja, the goal was to use the extension to "manipulate data in an internal web application that the victim had access to."
"While they also wanted to extend their access,...
