Voter fraud

How the hell does this have a 9 rating. I gave it a 3 which is only because of the ending. This moving is boring, confusing and poorly acted. Thank God it only cost be $0.99 on Amazon. Still a waste of money though.

OK effects, the rest is a waste of time and money! Robo-votes
niavasha26 March 2018
Producers: 460 votes (and counting) average 9 score. Voting fraud anyone?

Even if not robo-votes, just everyone who was on the production crew or associated with, having voted 10 is not an endorsement of quality.

Total waste of 6.99$ on Amajoon.

Absolutely horrible.
The_Techpriest18 August 2018
I cant point out one single thing in this movie that wasn't terrible. Locations, acting, props, music, story. All of it just terrible.

I've seen better movies made for school projects than this. Not only is the movie bad in general, but it's also plain confusing to watch.

Dont waste your time and money people.

Complete Garbage
IKnowGoodFilms11 May 2018
IMDB Really needs to crack down on these fake scores; obviously rated by the cast and crew of this completely garbage movie.

The effects arent the worst thing in the world; but the acting is absolutely atrocious. Its so bad it makes lifetime or scyfy asylum movies look oscar worthy.

The storyline is a complete joke; absolutely nothing original.

But its the acting that you just cant get passed. No person in their right mind would ever rate this above a 2. It is truly that bad.

Dont waste your time or your money watching this trash.

Amateur effort
dyernick22 August 2018
Ok so I think for the most part it has been established that this film is very poorly realised...my real issue is how the hell did they get away intermittently with a direct use of John Carpenter's amazing soundtrack to The Fog?!!!its a lazy and awful abuse of such creative excellence!...shameful.

Someone actually gave this 7/10? lmao
realityinmind5 August 2018
Smh. Horrible.

This movie has a good premise. But these actors?!? Ugh. These zombies are the worst zombies I have seen out of any zombie movie. They are that bad. CGI zombies would be better than these real-life human beings that are being paid to pretend to be zombies. When the girl walks into the room to go around the corner and then walks up the stairs, the zombies slow down to such a crawl... it is HOR-RIB-BULL! Why would anyone direct these people to do what they did?

Did anyone notice that the camera man/electrical department guy played her father? Oh man no. WHY? HOW? WHY?!?!?

I will give the makeup/effects an A for effort... they did what often can not be accomplished with a big budget. It is actually on par with The Descent, so... yeah, good job! 6.5/10 to those guys!

But the lighting... were these people fans of The Leprechaun? When the 90's ended, along with it should have ended the idea that it is acceptable to use different colored lights to fill every inch of the screen. What street is this van parked on? Where there is a green light coming off one porch, a black light on another, a red light coming off the building, a yellow light coming out of the ground, a blue light coming off the roof, the van is bright orange, someone is shining a purple light in her face...... ridiculous!

The thing is... this is a decent movie for beginner filmmakers. But we all know that some of the people on this set, in this crew, related to this filmmaker, roommates with the writer..... some of these people registered with IMDB and rated this movie a 7/10 and then complimented a bunch of aspects of the movie that don't need to be complimented. For that, you people should be scolded. How dare you manipulate the numbers to falsely balloon the success of a movie that you worked on!

Oh wow, I just got to the part where the devil shows up. WHAT IS THIS?! This movie cannot figure out which way it wants to go.

Is this a college campus? Where is this Campus?

"Well, if you're hearing this... I guess it means I'm dead"

Yeah, like the movie.

4/10.

Sorry guys, it is what it is.

OMG why is a light shining on the dad's face while he is on the phone? You can see what looks like 15 lights in the reflection of his glasses. How is he not sweating??

Oh god, they just used the Howie Scream as a main centralized sound effect. THAT is a crime.

If you have really free time you may think to watch this movie. I just liked one scene and one technique that's all. It's sad because I thought that I would like the movie when I watched the trailer. Sad.

Don't Make A Deal With The Devil!
agomez195727 January 2018
Interesting idea about a man who makes a deal with the devil who's debt isn't paid when he dies... instead, his daughter pays for it! It's funny how we go through life wondering why we feel tortured even we haven't done anything wrong.... in this case, poor Rachel is severely tortured, and no matter how hard she fights back, it seems like time and the devil catch up with her! YIKES!!

Couldn't finish it.
vivianav-7021017 August 2021
I liked the main actress, some of the colorful cinematography, the make up effects, and the use of anamorphic lenses but unfortunately I felt like the thing was going nowhere. I understand it's low budget but they needed to put a little more work on the story.

WTF!?? Strange mix of different horror troupes.
bobbyworld347 July 2018
Odd addition to the ground-hog day style horror sub-genre. Most directly it feels like a gorier, lower budget, more nihilistic Happy Death Day. The good: Acting (the survivor girl) BAD = everyone else

Good = the look BAD = the pacing (feels long even at the under 90 minute runtime)

not upset that I watched it, but probably won't revisit it ever.

EYE STRAINS & MIGRAINES!!!
dragynheart27 November 2018
WHY??? What is possibly the reason for making this waste of time? Just to see how many people you could get to waste THEIR time HOPING to see a decent movie??!!!

Is this some college ART project??! Very bad camera work, constantly dark (most of the time with nothing but RED lighting), extremely repetitive ..... this THING only induces a headache!

J. Horton should be ashamed of himself!!!!! The only redeeming factor was the "okay" acting by Rachel Bryant.

I'm sorry, but if you're thinking about watching it, DON'T!!!!

80s parody?
davejessop-111 September 2018
Either this was an intended decent parody of 80s horror films or it was a pretty bad effort by everyone involved. Obviously the latter. I can't believe how boring, stupid and unlikeable the female protagonist was - maybe they should have done the 80s parody instead - it would have got more than 3/10.

Deathday is a somewhat uneven addition to the horror genre that doesn't fully realize its potential
kevin_robbins5 October 2023
I recently viewed Deathday (2018) on Tubi. The story revolves around a young woman whose father's death leaves her cursed by the devil, causing her to die, lose a piece of her soul, and return to the land of the living. Can she uncover the way to break this cycle and save her soul?

This film is both written and directed by J. Horton (Craving) and features Rachel Amanda Bryant (Craving), Brit Sheridan (Supernatural), Scott Menville (Teen Titans) and Hakeemshady Mohamed (Expendables 3).

Deathday is another horror movie with inconsistent writing and where certain elements outshine others. The acting falls in the mediocre to poor range, lacking any standout performances. This film offers some satisfying kills with impressive blood splatter effects and the zombie scenes were a highlight. Regrettably, the film's villain was an annoyance, indicating a need for better character writing and execution. The premise held potential, but its execution was disappointing. I will note that the ending delivers a rewarding conclusion that brought a smile to my face.

In summary, Deathday is a somewhat uneven addition to the horror genre that doesn't fully realize its potential. I would give it a 3.5/10 and recommend it only as a last resort if there are no better options available.

Lead actress and special effects let down by everything else
akeen-1586817 February 2024
Just watched this (For free on Amazon) and thought I'd leave a review after reading some of the others. So I'd absolutely agree with what most people said previously. The plot is very confusing and most nonsensical. It's obviously low budget. Weirdly they seem to be using a piece of music from "The Fog 1980" at one point. So I wouldn't recommend this to anyone even though it's thankfully not really long. The two points I'd make despite that are firstly the special effects are very good especially for a low budget film so congratulations there. Also the lead actress who is basically IS the movie as she's in 90 percent of it alone is very good. It's not her fault the script and direction aren't great. But she does an admirable job and she wouldn't be out of place in something better.

tripping euro horror inspired flick
horrormovieguy7 July 2018
Seemingly inspired by italian horror, this slow burn thriller has an interesting story, mixed with some cool visuals and a strong central performance from the lead woman. Let's get it out of the way, it is low budget, you won't recoginze a sole actor and it does at times feel a little redundant. But at least it tries something different with the genre and for the most part is successful.

Solid attempt that does have some interest
kannibalcorpsegrinder6 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Returning home for the holidays, a woman trying to move past her dysfunctional upbringing finds herself under the effects of a deadly curse that causes her to die only to get resurrected leading to an eventual demonic possession, forcing her to find out how to stop it from happening.

For the most part, this here wasn't too bad of an effort. One of the more intriguing efforts here is the gradual build-up done here to showcase the possession has taken hold and gone into effect. This is mainly due to the interesting main story where we come to discover the Aztec folklore about the possessed containing several different aspects to a human soul that have to be conquered in order for the demonic entities to then have full power over a person in the afterlife, a wholly unique take on the constructs of a human soul. This is touched on nicely in the pre-credits sequence with the scientists discovering the central tomb which then carries on into the rest of the film by featuring the various sights of her coming under its effects where it shows her dying in graphic ways resulting in plenty of graphic and gruesome sequences. These are mostly due to a really enjoyable amount of action present which moves this one along, from the home invasion sequence where she takes out the thugs trying to rob her where we get to see the grisly aftermath, a fine torment sequence of the demons playing with her by showing her friends being tortured and a chilling sequence in her home where she's assaulted by various possessed figures around the house before the demons appear before her to chase her around the various locations she tries to escape. That leads into the absolutely stellar finale where the zombies are brought into the mix to chase her which adds some great action and bloody gore into the mix before the final confrontation with the main demon which gives this enough to like to hold off the few flaws present. The biggest issue to be had here is the utterly bland and awful pacing in the first half where it allows the various plot devices to get spelled out which is fine since the film takes forever to get this kind of complicated setup exposed. However, that just makes the film insanely boring to get these storylines developed so that the scenes of her meeting with the other family members at the funeral or the different appointments we see of her going around town which just become so bland after a while that the film becomes a slough to get started on. Then attempting to spell out the complex part of the storyline inferring the pass of the curse onto her that the film becomes troublesome to find. That isn't helped along by the film's incessantly low-budget nature of the film where it seems way too ambitious a concept for this which is enhanced by the digital effects and background style look which gives this the look and feel of a much lower-budgeted film. These here are what really hold this back.

Rated Unrated/R Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Time to doe again ... and again
Woodyanders14 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Robert Wainwright (nicely played by Robert C. Pullman) dies in the wake of breaking his deal with the Devil. Wainwright's daughter Morgan (a solid performance by Rachel Amanda Bryant) finds herself trapped in an endless of terror in which she dies over and over again that she must figure a way out of before it's too late.

Writer/director J. Horton relates the enjoyably twisted story at a constant pace, aby crafts a creepy atmosphere, maintains a dark and grimly serious tone throughout, and offers a handy helping of super bloody violence, with Morgan's assorted gruesome deaths in particular really delivering the gory goods. The surprise downbeat bummer ending packs a jolting punch. A neat little fright flick.
