Lots of potential.
carly_hope19 January 2018
The good thing about this potential spin-off is, that we already know the characters and are invested.

The episode wonderfully showcased all of the girls and also where they are right now and the relationships between them. And I was very invested throughout, I was rootign for them.

The chemistry between the acresses and characters is amazing and I also like how they are all different. It makes for very interesting dynamic. I'm so here for women being awesome and kicking ass each in their own unique way.

A great kickoff!
kllombard26 May 2018
I loved it! It's not often that a new series has the advantage of starting off with such developed (and beloved) characters. The young hunters are fantastic but it's the potential of the partnership of Jody and Donna that I find so compelling. The incredible success of Supernatural is propelled by the chemistry of Jared and Jensen. Kim Rhodes and Brianna Buckmaster have the same magic.

Lots of potential

Warning: Spoilers
Yes there will be some fans who were disappointed about the lack of screen time Sam and Dean had, but that is too be expected from the Wayward SISTERS spin-off pilot. The boys have their own show, this episode was intended to set up the girls' show, so a shift of focus was mandatory. There was a lot to fit into the episode- even with the previous build up work already done on the new characters. I don't think the pacing was entirely successful. The episode plot felt a little thin- monsters come through the door, Claire goes and fetches back Sam and Dean- because there was (needed to be?) a lot of time devoted to establishing the family dynamic of Jody, Donna and the girls. But there were still several exciting / intriguing moments not least the cliffhanger at the end. Brilliant performances from Briana and Kim. Two of my favourite characters; I love that Donna is bamf but still goofy and kind, and Jody is bamf but wise and maternal. I hope the spin-off will keep them firmly centred in any future plots. I hadn't originally been keen on the character of Alex, but I liked the direction they have taken her for this and it will be good to see her as a strong, nerdy contributor whose first focus isn't just fighting. I had never gelled with the character of Claire. The rebellious scrappy teen who has had some success at Hunting, but fumbles often enough to come across as mouthy without the smarts or ability to back it up. But maybe some of the younger viewers feel her angst. Her transition here to big bad bamf werewolf hunter in this episode seemed a bit abrupt and unfounded (dispite previous werewolf encounters which consisted of mainly being bitten and turned). But of the girls she has the most hunter backstory and it is clear the young team will need an up and coming fighter if the spin-off progresses. Hopefully the loss she suffers in the pilot will temper her annoying reckless attitude and give her room to grow into a strong character we can root for. The new girls didn't really get enough screen time in this episode, but they have been introduced previously. They seemed a little flat when looked at solely here but there looks to be room for growth with psychic-girl finding the confidence to fight, and dreamwalker-girl finding a purpose (and then whatever the cliffhanger will bring). What the pilot did do really nicely was set the scene for an ongoing spin-off. Untold various Bad World monsters having flooded Suix Falls while the gate was open. Revenge plot. Possible baddie. Developing family dynamic. I'd definitely watch more of that for Donna and Jody on monster patrol and saving the towns folk. Alex and Claire might grow on me. And I need to see more of the new girls before I decide. I think if I had watched this cold, it wouldn't have been the best thing I have ever seen, but it certainly has more then enough promise to keep me watching for several episodes to see where they are going to take this. Originally I didn't fall in love with Supernatural till the season one finale. The spin-off certainly deserves a bit of time to see where it will go.

Impressive Pilot
fashionista-8121219 January 2018
I found the backdoor pilot for Wayward Sisters incredibly impressive. They did a wonderful job focusing on each character, adding depth, evolving the relationships between them all. It had humor, action, drama. They really did a wonderful job setting up the series, including a wicked good cliffhanger.

What's amazing to see is these how inspiring and empowering these women are off screen shine through on screen. And to see Sam and Dean support these women, be proud of these women, felt like such an important moment. This episode has left me so emotional in the best possible way, even hours after it aired. Excited to see the future of Wayward Sisters!

Solid chemistry between the cast really leads this...
silencedshell19 January 2018
This episode brought together a group of women that have been solid favourites for many in the Supernatural fandom. The natural chemistry between the cast made this a joy to watch. Jared and Jensen make appearances as their iconic Sam and Dean as they seek to find a way out of the mess they are in.

I hope this gets picked up as a series. The dynamic between the cast is definitely something to explore as the Supernatural universe is expanded on. Look after this spin off CW!

A solid thrillride with heart
kannbrown19 January 2018
Of course, no spoilers. But this was an episode with a ton of heart that still deliver major action and even some laughs. There were a lot of characters involved, including some being introduced to others for the first time. There were solid interesting dynamics between various characters that still didn't get in the way of the mission. And it ended not so much on a cliffhanger, but definitely a way that left you on the edge of your seat. Can't WAIT to see where this leads.

Wayward Yes!
towerflower200019 January 2018
It feels like years we've been waiting for this episode, and it did not disappoint. I liked that everybody was feeling their way into their relationship; I liked that they all shift around and change their minds and learn from their mistakes. I love that Jody realized Claire really could handle herself; I love that Claire finally acknowledged that Jody worries because she loves Claire and considers her a daughter. Always love Jody and Donna together!

Lots of interesting bits from the Bad Place, which I have a feeling we'll be seeing again. And that last-second twist, yikes!! We definitely need to see these women together more - here's hoping the network picks up the series.

A Series I Want to Watch
lala379719 January 2018
This backdoor pilot far exceeded my expectations and I could not be happier. Sticking true to the heart of the series, but offering new territory to fuel this spinoff into it's own first season with a new breed of monsters to fight and a new mythology to follow. This is the proper spinoff SPN fans have been waiting and asking for for YEARS, and it was worth it. I hope the network picks this up to series. I will watch it and love every minute of it!

Want to see More
Louise929116 June 2018
This is designed as a spinoff to SPN, with a concept to complement rather than try to replace. It makes use of characters established over the years (Claire, Donna, especially Jody) & newcomers (Patience, Kaia.)

They are complex, realistic women characters who stand out in a see of bland. The kind of role models we need. (Especially Jody.)

---

The awkward part of any backdoor pilot is that it has to fit w/I the regular series w/o disrupting it, so it doesn't have the same "freedom" to pull out the stops that regular pilots have.

In spite of this, Dabb & Berens have created an involving show that would've been very interesting to see. In promos from January, Mark Pedowitz said he was ok w/ the show, but it was up to whether the fans would watch...ratings numbers came in fine.

At UpFronts, Pedowitz cited creative issues--so fans were left not knowing what the problem was (and are still wondering, frankly, as conversations at SPN conventions show.)

---

Anyway, promo interviews by the SPN leads suggested it would be a companion show until they retired & Jared Padalecki hinted at guest spots after that. So the show could have been a ratings holder & a chance to carry the SPN fandom on for however long they would go.

Kim Rhodes & Briana Buckmaster are excellent actresses able to carry the weight of leads. They & the younger women formed a diverse cast--both in orientation & ethnicity. (And ages.)

I'd have liked to see the spin off & would have gladly watched a second hour.

Legacies? W/o the Originals leads, w/ a boarding school/teen set up...no thanks.

Definition of corny.
normandeau722 July 2018
Theres a reason why the CW President decided not to pick up this show, and it's because it would be bad. It was painfully corny and flat out cringe worthy.

A new show for a new era
unfencedfire19 January 2018
Seeing a movement that fans started being realised on screen is amazing, rewarding and exactly what fans needed. Fresh, new characters, mixed with loved, old ones. The pilote paid tribute to Supernatural with some lines, tropes and characters, but created something new at the same time. I can't wait to find out where the characters are going next. If you think Supernatural has been lacking something, I'm sure you'll love Wayward Sisters.

Great cast and chemistry with some direction
shwetafabm1 August 2020
I am liking this alternate universe thing, it sets up a mystery too as seen in the last scene, i do love the jody family and like the others too but i felt in this ep there were some strange, cringey sort of moments, not a big deal, they had the same energy as Sam and Dean in that ep in S12 where they escape prison, i just think the display of i am badass is a bit too much.

Oh dear...
Vonpelt21 January 2018
As much as I'd like to support my favourite show with a positive review, I've got to be truthful and give it a big thumbs down. Plenty of holes in the plot and improbable situations, such as super-hunter perfect teen girl Claire being able to take down werewolves without so much as a hair out of place. Oh, and while I'm on the subject of hair - would a hunter really sport perfectly cascading curls and makeup worthy of a nightclub rather than hunting supernatural beings, perfectly applied even after beating up spooky critters? Everyone else's characters were way more convincing. Claire seemed to be the main focus of the show and I don't think the actress, nor the character can carry it off. If the writing improves I might consider watching a spinoff, but only if the writers start using their brains and take the focus off Claire and turn to the more interesting (and better acted) characters.

A fantastic introduction with great potential
ashleighrusson20 January 2018
Delightfully surprised and impressed with this backdoor pilot. The story and characters fit beautifully within the existing theme and canon of the show, whilst bringing in new opportunities and change of perspective. It felt like a breath of fresh air, not only increasing anticipation for its potential as its own show but increasing excitement for supernatural itself. With enough of the core values of its mother show and the interesting new mythology and character relationships. This is truly the spin-off supernatural and its fans deserve. It would be a sorely wasted opportunity if it isn't picked up to series.

Incredibly satisfying
greenwitchgreyking19 January 2018
I was so excited to sit down and watch this Wayward Sisters pilot last night. It was the culmination of so much hard work and longing and community building within the fandom as well as amongst the cast. The CW listened to fans and gave us what we wanted: a closer look at the lives of some much-loved characters - Jody, Donna, Alex, Claire, and two new ones - Kaia and Patience. The way the story unfolded, and I won't put spoilers here, was so organic, growing out of and alongside of Supernatural, not trying to compete, but complementing in the best possible way. We're so thankful to the CW for this.

It shouldn't be a novelty that a series (and I hope like hell it gets picked up) has six female leads, but it is. And kudos to the CW for its diverse cast. The chemistry between the actors was palpable, and the script, by Robert Berens (our beloved Bobo) and Andrew Dabb gave us a story full of connections being made between these women, and conflicts both present and on the horizon. I hope with all my heart that we get to see these connections and conflicts play out in a series. The Supernatural universe is a large one, and I want to see these wayward sisters explore it.

Warning: Spoilers
I feel the pilot for Wayward Sisters was very well done! They took characters we already know (and love), and making a series dedicated to them is an incredible idea! If Sam and Dean were real, they'd certainly support this show. The dynamics between the characters was intriguing, and left us all curious and excited for more. Hopes that it will be picked up!

This has every potential of being an epic role model for women and young ladies. Besides that element, it has potential for fabulous storylines and already has a built in fan base.

Not the best/Not the worst
maxtimecore24 December 2018
It makes sense to try to build a pilot episode from a series that's been running for thirteen years. Who knows how much longer Jensen and Jared are going to be willing to do this? And using established, liked characters like Jody and Donna makes perfect sense. Adding Jody's adoptive daughters, and the new psychic that was just introduced? Also makes sense.

No, it was not the best scripted episode, ever. There were more plot holes than usual. No, it was not the best acted. But I don't know if that falls on the actresses, or the script, or the direction, honestly.

But as a backdoor pilot? It worked. You have the monster of the week, you have the hunting and the interpersonal emotional dialogue. You have the rescue of the endangered citizens (in this case, Sam and Dean), and you have the personal loss.

If Jared and Jensen ever decide to leave the show, I would continue to watch if Jody and Donna were the main characters. But not Claire, Patience, and Alex.

(Now, if they brought back Ellen, and added her to the mix? DYNAMITE!)

Ready for Wayward
tarynreed19 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This pilot episode was incredible! So much heart and emotion mixed with intense fight scenes and scary monsters. I LOVED seeing Claire on the road fighting monsters on her own. That Mr Werewolf moment was amazing. Kim, Katherine, and Kathryn already have SO much chemistry on screen together. They are clearly already a family. I loved the tension between Patience and Claire as well as the instant connection Claire had with Kaia. Donna is my favorite, seeing her back after an absence last season was great. Her entrance was PRICELESS. This episode had me laughing and crying and yelling at my tv. I cannot wait to see where this story goes. I really hope the CW picks this up for a full run.

Night Trap?

I thought that this episode was enjoyable as a backdoor pilot. The way the monsters looked and moved reminded me of the "Augers" from the FMV game Night Trap. Lizard Tastes Like Lizard.

Ex-machina the episode.
alexlenceon22 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This was really, really bad. To begin with, the camera work for the last few episodes heavily resembles a cheap reality show. All these zoom-ins, the "shaking" camera, this is bad. I felt like watching jersey shore ...

The episode felt like it was written by a 10 year old supernatural fan. I am sure the script for this episode read something like "All the side-kicks assemble, fight a bunch of aliens and save Sam and Dean!". The amount of conveniences was ridiculous. How did Clair find them in mere minutes while they were gone for days ? The very fact that they had been lost meant that they COULD NOT find the portal. The writing made it seem like she went through the portal and found them in 10 minutes or even less. And why weren't they eaten by the creature in the forest? Was it waiting for them to get away first, or was it too slow (we heard it coming, but it seems like it moves like a snail judging from how long it took it to reach them) ?. I am not even referring to the fact that the portal closed A SECOND after they escaped. We knew it was thinning, but that is beyond perfect timing. In addition to all that mess, the ending felt like a cheap plot twist. The moment we were introduced to the clocked figure for the first time in the begging of the episode, I thought "Hey, wouldn't that be the cheapest plot twist if Kaia was the clocked figure all along ? Nah ... that would be such lazy writing.", and guess what ? It happened. I hate to repeat myself, but that it the LAZIEST writing I have ever seen. Birdemic has was more interesting to watch than this mess.

Oh and by the way, the intro felt like a MMV (movie music video) that was made by a 13 year old fan. You can find a lot of these on youtube. Syncing the singing with the clips in the movie ? Really ? Was this episode a high school project ? This is the level of laziness the creators have reached.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big Supernatural fan, but this episode was worst than even the most boring filler episode in the entire series. The camera work was horrible, and the whole thing feels like they gave up on the series completely.

I really hope the rest of the season is going to be back on track tho.
