So we are finally a bit out of Dean's character regression. I thought motw was good and entertaining and the episode also went deep into grief and loss. The empty was intriguing too. Also can we acknowledge how when Dean went to purgatory and Sam didn't look for him because he thought Dean was dead was seen as some big sin by Sam but Dean's doing the same with Mary.

Emotional scenes make a classic "monster of the week" episode great

I really enjoyed this one! Angry Dean has been pretty unbearable so far but it led to some great emotional scenes in this one - Sam yelling at him during the "therapy" session was excellent. I loved the shifter therapist and it's always good to see Courtney Ford. They haven't done much with Jack yet, but seeing him grapple with his nature and the loss of his mom was excellent. Plus, interesting development with Castiel and the Empty.

Reminds me of "Skin" from season 1

This episode uses shapeshifters as a plot mechanic to allow Jack some closure. It reminds me of season 1's Skin using shapeshifting as a parable about domestic violence. The emotional material really works for the relationship between the Winchesters and Jack but it feels a little to coincidental that the case of the week ties in so nicely to the family melodrama.

I also must say I adore Collins as the Empty and that sequence is a highlight of season 13.

This is my first review ever on IMDb and i wanna say, Awesome episode. Very well thought as far as i can say and just touching the supernatural standards. I am being careful of any spoilers ,so i just wanna say that this show has brought so many good moments to people like me and the way it makes us like the new and old characters is just awesome. I will give this episode a 10/10 may be 11 if it was possible. A must watch definitely and i think no one will mind fillers like this one containing some story progressions too. Supernatural is a mature Grown Baby with a lot of experience , which is being used just right. I CANT STOP WATCHING THIS SHOW AND ITS CHARACTERS EVEN IN REAL LIFE...
