Great, Whacky Simpsons
lesleyharris3022 February 2018
Dogtown is a great Simpsons episode with a very well written plot and plenty of hilarious scenes. It is one of those episodes that reminds us that the Simpsons really is a cartoon. Though I do love how grounded in reality the show usually is, I enjoy when they take a more slapstick approach in telling a story as well, and this shows how much the writers have to work with, cause it can go from dealing with serious, real life matters one week, to becoming more like a Looney Tunes cartoon the next, and we will not question it either way.

I did find that, as a season finale, it is a little flat. The finale episode of the season is usually a more momentous twenty minutes, such as last years Orange is the New Yellow, or Season 24's Dangers on a Train, this would have been better off placed in midseason, I feel.

I really enjoyed the fun they had with the dogs in this episode, there are loads of hilarious moments, in particular the montage, that were pleasing to watch and made this stand out over other Simpsons.

Great imagination. Fun and intriguing, Dogtown is a very creative, interesting Simpsons episode.

There's trouble in Springfield when Homer's court case elevates the status of the town's dogs.

Pros and Cons of Dogtown
snorlax311198421 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I don't care if this review is helpful to you or not

Pros 1. Clancy and Sarah made the right choice returning Ralph to the Stork. I hope they can get a better child this time around.

2. Gill is one of my favorite secondary characters so I'm glad he's getting a big role in an episode for the first time in about 13 or 14 years. Gill shows once again why he's one of the best "butt monkeys" in animation today. I laughed especially hard when Gill ruins his chance to be a hero by getting an egg sandwich and he doesn't even get to eat the sandwich.

3. 4 times in 2 years? I don't know why Michael York is suddenly on the show so much but it's okay by me. He's awesome.

4. I got a big laugh out of Abe chastising Marge for not putting him in charge of watching the kids and then chastising Marge because she DID put him in charge of watching the kids. Equally funny was Bart putting Abe to sleep by turning the temperature up 1 degree.

5. Very nice subtle Nintendo reference: having a place called Mario's Meats and having the store owner look like Luigi, owner of Springfield's Italian restaurant.

6. Thanks for having the court trail not presided by Judge Constance Harm. Good god how I hate her.

7. Best Line Quimby: You were right and we were wrong Veterinarian: Yes, very well, but will you remove my chains? Qumby: Don't push your luck!

Cons 1. Your jumping the gun a little by thanking Taylor Swift for 28 great years. She isn't even 27 1/2 yet.

2. Is this the same angry African-American commentator from "22 For 30" or is it just another loud, unfunny character?

3. I disagree with Bart & Lisa: Homer's "look what the cat dragged in" joke was lame.

4. They actually referenced Turbo? Good god did that movie suck. Dreamworks owes Paul Giamatti an apology for wasting his time with such crap. Whatever they paid Giamatti, it wasn't enough.

The worst simpsons episode ever
stefanristic-752682 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, it is worse than Lisa Goes Gaga. The episode starts with a stupid scene where Homer hits Gill with a car instead of a dog. Charming. What a tasteful way to start a happy show. Literally in the first 4 minutes of the episode, they're in court. 5 minutes in, they're finished with the court thing and everyone loves Homer and the dog because he didn't murder him, so Springfield starts worshipping dogs.

This isn't even funny as a treehouse of horror short. The dogs go out of control and take over the city, so the town decides to respect Gill more as he tries to tame the dogs. Until that is abandoned because Marge kills a Chihuahua. I'm not kidding. Their Deus Ex Machina is that Marge kicks a Chihuahua to death. It's so stupid, lazy, stupid, moronic and leaves you angry.

There were no good jokes in this episode. There was one stupid reference to Turbo. Why? WHY? YOU'RE REALLY GOING TO ASK WHY IN THIS EPISODE? Everyone loves TURBO in 2017. That joke really aged well in the 9 months of production time. Hell, Turbo wasn't even relevant 9 months ago. TURBO WAS NEVER RELEVANT.

Do not watch this episode. It is so, SO bad. It's so rushed and stupid. It was clearly supposed to be in Treehouse of Horror, but it was apparently too good. It's also got the same breakneck pace of a Treehouse of Horror short, which doesn't work well when it tries to be heart felt. I hate this episode so much. So, SO GOD DAMN much.
