Sharply observed look at First Year Med School
mackjay230 January 2020
Two young students accidentally become friends at the start of medical school. They study together, have ups and downs, and we get a look at the severe trial of a medical education in France. Unlike a typical Hollywood film on this subject, there is no time wasted on romance-- or anything else outside the guys' attempt to pass their rigorous exams. But it's never dry or dull---there's humor and pathos, all excellently acted and directed.

Compelling

That's a purely medical student study movie, made by a former doctor, who lnows what he's talking about. the tale of a friendship between two students with its ups and downs. A very good character study, which also shows what medical students life is actually is. Also a beautiful friendship story pulled by a solid ending. An ending about sacrifice.

A real good surprise

This movie depicts really well the first year's medical school in Paris through the friendship of two young students. They have their little stories, their ups & downs and appear totally focused on their final exams. Unlike most films, there is no unrealistic drama, romance or events and we can literally dive into a very competitive environment from the beginning to the end of the first year. Moreover, it is well directed by a real doctor and very nicely played by young actors

Rings so close to what I lived

Having gone through a similar path myself, it reminded me of a time that what very painful to me but that made me a stronger person as well. The character study and its portrayal with both leads absolutely on point made this film a must-see and I'm certain I'll revisit the film several times. A beautiful friendship set in a life-changing period of one's life (professionally, morally and physically).

The exams scenes made me relive the anxiety of being one grain of sand in the desert, seeing the ocean of competitors surrounding me. Although the exam centre was Vincennes for my own experience, the atmosphere was the same.

generous

It is a film remarkable for its...generosity.

Friendship, the rigurous system of trial for medical studies in france, the learnig as intense, asidous, tenacious , calculated minute by minute effort, in same measure against yourself, the prepaires for exam and the fatigue and its terrible consequences - near the envy as punch against friendship -, new beginning and the succes.

The story is admirable crafted.

Second precious virtue - the actors in the main roles and their just great job.

A film reminding the work as student or master or Phd .Precise, careful made and intense like touching.

In short, generous .

Realistic account of Med School in Paris
bastos25 April 2020
I don't know why but this movie rubbed me the wrong way. It's a pretty well made, very well acted and very realistic journey into the first year of med school in Paris, which I find as interesting and entertaining as watching paint dry.
