And another addition to a field team that in its original guise was just MacGyver plus the guest of the week, sometimes supported by Bruce McGill. I wish they would have concentrated on the core team, I do not think another agent is necessary, especially since it is just going to be for an exchange of repartee with the Jack Dalton character.

Contrary to what the other reviewer believes, the only nations where a woman without a headdress would be punished are Saudi Arabia and Iran. Since the action took place in the outskirts of Istanbul, Turkey's capital, a blonde woman would not even raise an eyebrow, especially since quite a few of female Istanbulians dye their hair.

There was also no mention of "kafir", but of a keffiyeh (aka kufiya), which is the widespread name of this traditional dress item which covers head and neck. The use of shemagh for this piece of cloth is actually limited to Jordan, parts of Saudi Arabia and the British Army (who picked it up in Jordan). On the whole, keffiyahs are rare in Turkey and most easily found among the Kurds. The patterns also are not tribal, although there are local variations regarding colours and pattern - you cannot tell a man's family by his keffiyah.

All in all, a nice popcorn episode which again requires a certain suspension of belief, but heck, it is entertainment, not a documentary. I have seen better episodes, I have seen worse, so it is kind of in the middle.

Dry pace of action following up from the 1st season finale

In addition to the comments regarding Turkey in the review "When will they have two teams?" by jensomehner, I have a few things to say about somethings represented regarding Turkey. On the scene where they searched the back of the vehicle at the check-point by soldiers with Turkey's Flag-patches on their arms; Soldier searching the hay heap with what looks like a Kukri/Gurkha blade, is utterly ridiculous. In modern times, Kukri is used by Nepalese Army. Also, since scene is depicted to be taking place somewhere near Istanbul ("very outside" of Istanbul), and outside of Police jurisdiction, so those soldiers are Gendarme forces and they would be checking for drugs or guns and would have dogs with them etc.

Anyway, another thing is Samantha Cage speaking Turkish. Though I'm a native Turkish speaker, I had to watch several times just to get what she is saying without looking at the subtitles. It is not just an accent problem, It is just not understandable. After citing other comments from the previously mentioned review, I just wish they would focus more on authenticity. Father-mystery angle is a nice potential but It looks like they just gave up on Murdock on the spot and they would feed some cliché chase stories during most of this season until they caught up with the super-villain wannabe towards season finale.

Not a good idea

Rating is low as recasting is wow a joke, an Aussie you kidding me not even a good one at that and I see this show being cancelled unless they recast again or kill off the character Samantha Cage with her on the show I don't see a Season 3 being a possibility, There should be more Penny Parker episodes that's why the original was so great, why am I reviewing all this because Samantha Cage is not believable like ever she failed as a decepticon in a Transformers Movie , Lucas Till is awesome really has spirit of original and want to see more of the tracking down his father angle. I also like the Jack ,Riley redemption storyline Bozer is great just kill off the new character even Maddie gets the thumbs Up

Same Old Same Old

I'd like to say first I am a Turkish citizen living in Turkey. And I am offended by this imagery. In Turkey you CAN NOT see children playing soccer with make do football because there isn't one... Or middle eastern terrorist cells hiding in Mexican type buildings. There is too much false information about Turkey in this episode that my stomach can't handle... Any American can come to Turkey with their passport. You simply do not need to break in to the country (By the way Turkish soldiers do not carry African gersha knives or allowed to grow beard) .And there is the language problem... For your information actors in this film do not speak Turkish. Producers did not even bothered to hire a native Turkish to help cast speak. All in all worst episode ever. I will not watch this series again. Mc Gyver was the hero of my youth now even its memory fades.

Wide Leather Belt from the 1960s, sorry most pants don't have large 2 inch to 3 inch belt loops any more. Back then Republicans wore thin ties and thin belts, Democrats wore wide ties and wide belts to be "Hip", "Rad".

Fogged Chrystal on his Father's Watch. Not quite, looks like a new watch with a plastic crystal, most older watches have actual crystal glass not easily scratched "fogged" plastic lens (kind of like today's cheap plastic headlight fixtures on U.S. vehicles that turn white versus the original glass versions at Europe), the actual crystal lens can actually be buffed out to become literally "Chrystal Clear", the plastic ones stay fogged. Has no markings, typical of something you buy for about $5.00 quartz movement, not self winding mechanical. Too thin to be an Actual Mens "Diver's Watch" with Bezel markings, also no phosphorous illumination. Leather watch band, most that own Rolex Oyster Diver's Watches that use Leather watch bands use the type with the protective flap and snap to cover and protect the watch face. As a Hobby I was doing Self Winding Automatic Chronograph Watch Repairs. does that make me MacGyver's Daddy..."My first memories of my Dad was when he would pop this thing open" and explain all the little parts"..LOL.

Wearing a Shemagh like a bandit face mask, means just that Jack Dalton will be shot first then asked why he did that later. Jack Dalton wearing Shemagh "like a rag" around neck is what only Americans do, this is disrespectful of the Arabic Family that is represented by the specific colors and patterns of the Shemagh, they take this seriously enough to kill you.

Americans of African Ancestry are not used for Operations at Muslim Nations, even at U.S. AFRICOM, as they are "Americanized" and easily identified by Africans, Muslims, especially Arabic Omani Muslims of Sudan and Kenya.

Water inside his Father's watch, if he was really MacGyver, he would have already fixed that, Cheap O-Ring on Bezel and O-Ring Rear Case Cover as Onetime Use "Packing" according to Watch Makers or Watch Repair if that watch really means that to him, to get water out hair dryer or placed under a desk lamp with incandescent light bulb with rear case cover removed inside of closed jar (to prevent dust and rubbish from getting inside but evaporated water out of watch). "Bubble Chrystal" lens on Diver Watches were really thick to withstand many Atmospheres at least 90 meters underwater, 3 or more Atmospheres. That much water as shown would have been enough to stop the Main Spring.

Turning Bezel and the Stem pops out, nope, most Driver Watches, the stem is actually screwed into the watch casing unless you want to adjust the time. You cannot remove the rear case cover with your fingers or without the rear case removal tool, attempting to evenly turn a smooth round rear case cover with the cover having threads on the edges, only if this is one of those cheap $5.00 quartz battery watches would the rear watch cover be pushed on, and removable without special tools.

Photo inside the watch pressing against the balanced weight would have stopped the watch from self winding.
