Unenlightened But....
Hitchcoc21 November 2021
Yes, the reactions of the guys are childish and uninformed, but in Howard's case, he has a preconceived notion of the way things are. That's his character--unenlightened. He is quite reactive to things that he has not experienced. The thought of giving up more of his time is hard (he is about as selfish as a man can be). Within the parameters of this show and the self centered nerdiness, it works.

The Explosion Implosion

Warning: Spoilers
Good to see Beverly Hofstadter return to the show, but overall this was one of the weakest appearances she has had. They tried to give us a somewhat serious storyline with a mother in law and daughter in law bonding, but with the usual comedic pacing of the show it did not work, and worst of all the usual jokes did not produce a lot of laughs.

Why boy, daughter thing is bothering you
kchintogtoh15 September 2020
People are angry and scoring low cuz of boy and girl thing. But Howard think he can't be good father for boy and he is counting on Bernadette for his daughter. He thinks raising boy would be more of father's job. And I think it's true. Yeah, it's mother's job too but boys most of the time turns into their father. I said most of the time.

Big Bang is back!

This is the only episode so far this season that was entirely funny. The other episodes had a few moments although the story lines were rather shallow. This episode is a refreshing improvement. It meaningfully further builds on characters in ways that we always knew but never got to see. Also a lot of the classic awkward scenes similar to early seasons. Excellent!

Warning: Spoilers
I keep seeing people trash this series for expanding the characters and doing things that are actually realistic and even tackling tough issues. They do it all with humor and people just bash them for it. That character wouldn't do this or that...it's called growing and evolving. Not everyone wants to have their own kids or postpartum is difficult. In this one, Howard & Bernadette are initially disappointed they are having a boy. Not everyone is going to react perfectly to everything. It's not like it's a documentary...it's a sit com people. It's funny. Not to mention they both give understandable reasons for their disappointment, especially Howard. I love that he's struggling with it because his own father left and didn't give him a good role model to emulate. That's real! The best part is the pairing of Howard & Sheldon. They bond over the loss of their fathers at young ages. The best line is Sheldon's of course. Howard asks "Sheldon, what am I going to do? What do I know about raising a boy?" Sheldon responds "what do you know about raising a girl?" Classic Sheldon!! The story with Penny and Beverly is also hysterical! I love Beverly too!! Anytime she's on the show it's a great time! I love every season of this show!! As far as I'm concerned it could've kept going!! Thanks you for a wonderful 12 years!!!

Stupid and bad
elend-112 January 2019
This episode is so unbelievably bad. Not funny at all and why the hell should it be any different to raise a girl than a boy? You can't do sports with a girl or play with rockets? Come on. It's 2019 and not the 50ies.

Ignorant show
soumyadevster17 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The show is constantly going down. It used to be my go to show. Raj's comment about Indian space program lacks basic knowledge of the milestones achieved by Indian Space research organization. Are the show runners ignorant about India's successful moon and mars projects, not to mention highly successful satellite launches since last 40 years. If they don't know, they shouldn't unnecessarily try to be over smart.

going full nut job now.

Can't believe they let this one air, very messed up message. When Howard and his wife learn that their new baby is male they are extremely disappointed. nothing to see here folks just swallow and move on. I know it's just the big bang theory but still, this kind of hateful message is just plain crazy.

Unenlightened

I know I should not expect too much from this series full of clichés, but the reaction of Howard disappointed about having a boy because he doesn't know which "male activites" to teach him is really a stupid scenario. I can't believe this episode was produced in 2017.
