Sci-fi at it's best

Warning: Spoilers
I'd like to move away from the conventional approach of episode reviews and praise the Expanse for the creators' exceptional understaning of how space works. This episode is a spectacular demonstration of how realism can, contraty to one's expectations, elevate space fiction.

The plot revolves around the physical trauma that sudden, massive deceleration causes to the crew of the ships that have entered the Ring, and the slow pace of the episode allows us to observe the devastation. A fairly commonplace movie death becomes jaw-drapping when tears stick to the eyes at zero-g. An unfortunate crew member vacuums the air to clean up the floating blood. An artificial speed limit suddenly reveals the vast distances of even a compact area of space. Without being able to generate "gravity" by acceleration, the wounded cannot heal. Spinning motion makes the floating debris move seemingly weird.

Space in warp-speed, artificial-gravity blockbuster sci-fis is dull and nonexistent.

Space in the Expanse if forbidding, real, terrifying, and is a worthy challange for mankind.

I Love the Complexity

I won't say anything about ridiculously short attention spans. Oh, I just did. If one is familiar with the multitude of science fiction series and movies, take this one to the bank. I have never seen a series that takes into account time after time the realities of being in space. The trials of the crew members on these ships are horrible to see, and yet there isn't an easy, safe way to counteract what has happened to them. Of course, Holden is a pawn in the game and has been traumatized to the nth degree. Meanwhile, people are doing what they can to survive and return to some sense of order while a sentient entity seems to be moving beyond them. I have to say I haven't been a big fan of Anna's but saw her rising above a banal view of the world. Like all of us at this point, we haven't figured out the force that has been launched.

Drummer and Ashford converse
Kappmaster14 January 2020
Fallen World is a much quieter episode than some. No big battles, no crazy effects, very little shouting. The Drummer and Ashford conversations throughout the episode are absolutely stellar. Dealing with the ramifications of the rules change leaves the characters with critical decisions to make, leading to unexpected pairings. This episode is a game-changer in all the best and simplest ways.

Another VERY boring episode

I can see why syfy cancelled this. It is very hit or miss. This episode was very difficult to sit through. To slow, and lots of nonsensical plot lines.

Another awful episode

Warning: Spoilers
So, the logic is not important in The Expanse any more. Spaceships are to move around but Melba manages to fly by her own, in a spacesuit, through everything and get into Rocinante. Wow. Similar with Nagata, she also managed to "fly" through protomolecule and arive in time to save her friends. Dear Lord....
