Firemen slice of life
johnpierrepatrick25 April 2020
This movie almost acts as a documentary showing the daily life of firemen. We follow the different difficulties they have to face - a little too much in drawing up an exhaustive list however.

The weakness of the movie is by wanting to show a realistic depiction of their daily life, the story is lacking a bit and, if the characters are interesting and clearly bringing their share to that depiction, a 'macguffin' on top of the arrival of a woman team leader in the unit would have been a plus.

Firemen
searchanddestroy-18 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Well, that French film is far less spectacular than BACKDRAFT, but that's the best French film so far about fire soldiers. Besides, I have rarely seen such a HUMAN story I mean a tale with such convincing characters played by such convincing actors and actresses. Deep characters, which move you to the bone. Dialogues are excellent, outstanding, sharp as diamonds. No length in this film, only amusing, funny scenes, especially supported by dialogues, but also gripping, unbearable sequences, such as this one where the firemen enter by force into an apartment which the door was closed, to save the owner, and when they find a young woman who hanged herself wearing her wedding dress. No one, I repeat no human being can stay cold in front such a sequence. This story also focuses on daily domestic life and burden of those ordinary heroes. Human heroes.

crumbs of life

It is a beautiful film more for the crumbs of life showed in honest, simple, precise manner, from family and the balance with work, to misogyn reactions, from guilt to lessons teached to young people, from sexual aspects to the vocation.

In same measure, it is a well acted film and this detail is just a significant one.

It is a pledge for discover the other and for courage to be yourself.

A beautiful film about imperfect people, work troubles, reactions, fireworkers and way to define reality.

Not the story itself matters, but the fine crafted characters. And, indeed, this is more than a good point. In short, gratitude for nice job for Emilie Dequenne, Michael Abiteboul and Roschddy Zem.
