Gaumont, the powerhouse behind “Narcos,” “Lupin” and “Barbarians,” has boarded “Le Prince,” a period mystery thriller series written by Charles den Tex and Paul de Vrijer (“Hunter Street”).
Currently in development, “Le Prince” will be produced by Gaumont, as well as Stories By, a label launched by France TV Distribution, and Dutch producers Paradise Media.
The six-part series will be driven by a strong female character and will be inspired by the true story of the disappearance of Louis le Prince, the inventor of the first ever motion picture camera.
“Le Prince” unfolds in France, in the late 19th century, a few years before the invention of cinema. Le Prince was a French artist who is believed to have been the first person to shoot a moving picture sequence, years before the Lumière brothers and Thomas Edison. Le Prince mysteriously vanished in 1890 shortly before a planned public demonstration of his camera in the U.

Production on fantasy epic “The Witcher” Season 2 has commenced in the U.K., with a planned launch in 2021, Netflix announced.
The show also announced seven new cast members joining “The Witcher” for S2, including Kristofer Hivju, the Norwegian actor who played the red-bearded wilding leader Tormund Giantsbane on “Game of Thrones.”
Netflix last month claimed “The Witcher” Season 1 was tracking to be its biggest original TV series debut to date. However, that’s according to a new metric invented by the company that found 76 million member households watched at least 2 minutes of the show in the first four weeks after its Dec. 20 release.
The streamer renewed “The Witcher” for Season 2 last fall with an eight-episode order, more than a month before the freshman season hit the streaming service. The show represents “a massive new franchise that we’ll develop season after season,” Netflix chairman/CEO Reed Hastings said on the...

Yesterday we got our first look at Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt in Netflix’s The Witcher series. It was met with some mixed reactions. Some fans liked it while others had a some fun joking around with it.
Today we’ve got some new casting news to share with you regarding one of the lead female characters in the franchise. According to TV Line, Harry Potter actress Anna Shaffer has been cast in the role of Triss Merigold. I imagine that they will give the actress the red hair that the character is known for.
Triss is an ally of Geralt as well as a love interest for him. What do you think about Shaffer, who also stars in the British series Hollyoaks, landing the role of Triss.
The series also cast Eamon Farren (Twin Peaks: The Return) as Cahir, Joey Batey (Knightfall) as Jaskler, Lars Mikkelsen (House of Cards) as Stregobor,...
