Once again, the blockbuster phenomenon Planet of the Apes is set to roar back into theaters with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and ready to dominate the box office with sheer force. Critics have already delivered their early verdicts, deeming it one of the franchise’s finest, captivated by its mesmerizing visual effects and gripping storyline.
A still from Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
There is something magical about this franchise, a name that alone is enough to pack theaters to the brim. Despite its majestic and captivating title like Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, it almost wasn’t going to be the title of the movie. Wes Ball had a different vision in mind.

The morning of the “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” premiere, stars of the film Peter Macon and Ras-Samuel discovered they were staying at the same hotel while getting breakfast. And when they met eyes from either end of the buffet line, they did not greet each other with a wave or a simple hello, they did so as apes. Embodying their characters, they dropped their shoulders and shuffled together, hooting and panting at the sight of a friend.
“I’m sure we made a spectacle of ourselves,” Macon told Variety at the Los Angeles premiere Thursday. “[But] we met each other as apes first and human beings second. So that is never going to go away.”
As previously reported by Variety, the cast of “Kingdom” spent six weeks in “ape school,” where they learned to walk, speak, play and ride horses as their primate counterparts. According to director Wes Ball,...

The Maze Runner is back at the starting line.
20th Century Studios is rebooting the sci-fi action adventure franchise, which ran as a trilogy from 2014 to 2018.
The Disney arm is in negotiations to tap Jack Paglen, perhaps best known for writing the Johnny Depp-starring sci-fi movie Transcendence, to pen the script for a new installment.
Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman of Gotham Group and Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill, who produced the original trilogy, are back to produce this one. Wes Ball, who directed the original trilogy, will also be involved as a producer.

The summer movie season is here. After a frankly terrible start to the box office in 2024, all eyes are now on everything from "The Fall Guy" to "Deadpool & Wolverine" to give movie theaters a reason to celebrate. As far as May goes, "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" looks to get things moving in the right direction, being the first entry in the franchise in seven years. We've got a new filmmaker, a new cast, a new timeline, and a new reason to believe that this classic sci-fi property will once again find life more than 55 years after the original film debuted in 1968.
Current tracking suggests that "Kingdom" will open between $54 and $61 million domestically, per Deadline. Assuming that holds, it would be a damn fine start for the film. While the budget has yet to be revealed, it is said to be in the $120 million range. Disney and...

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” director Wes Ball thinks it’s high time that Wētā FX got its due for its innovative simian performance capture animation. So he intends to peel back the curtain for the first time on the upcoming Blu-ray release. As first reported on the “Ape Nation” podcast, Ball will offer the entire movie, which takes place 300 years after the reign of Andy Serkis’ Caesar, as a bonus feature in a before- and-after comparison of raw dailies and completed performance capture animation and VFX.
“I think VFX is too much maligned…when it’s a tool like anything else,” Ball told IndieWire. “So I think to show the absolute peak of artistry and what these artists actually do is not some button that says, ‘Make Apes.’ These are true storytellers at work here. I want to show that off and celebrate it.”

The first arc of the finale saga, Egghead Island has changed the entire viewpoint of One Piece. The arc has not only made some major revelations, but it also has introduced some major mysteries that have baffled the fans. Among those mysteries, the biggest one was probably the unveiling of the Great Kingdom.
One Piece – Egghead Arc
Although the Great Kingdom was introduced very early in the story, the series has just brought it back and it is discussed by Dr. Vegapunk. He explained that the Iron Giant which the fans saw during the beginning of the Egghead arc, was a part of the Great Kingdom. He also explained how the Great Kingdom was much more technologically advanced than the present.
While this has opened the way to a whole lot of new exciting theories and mysteries, it might not be a good thing for Eiichiro Oda. Oda has once...

Of all the movies debuting this summer, I am most looking forward to "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes." This series has been on a roll since the 2011 reboot and I'm excited to see it take a new direction more akin to the original films

The trailers for "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" have been teasing the state of this new ape-ruled world. During a panel at Gdc (as reported on by Eurogamer), some of the key members of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom team discussed the challenges of the game’s development. Specifically, they focused on the difficulties of creating the game’s complex physics system and implementing it into the adventure in a way that works and was…well, fun.
It was an utterly fascinating conversation that offered a rare peek behind the curtains of Nintendo’s development process. If you are at all interested in the details of Tears of the Kingdom‘s physics system, I highly recommend seeking out a transcript of the entire discussion.
However, there was one line from that panel that I can’t get out of my head. When discussing the overall philosophy behind Tears of the Kingdom‘s development, the team revealed that one of their guiding lights was “Vast doesn...

DC Studios‘ last gasp before James Gunn reboots the Dcu is coming to the Max streaming service later this month. Swimming onto the platform on February 27, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom debuted in theaters last year during the Christmas holiday stretch. Unfortunately, the James Wan-directed Aquaman 2 floated on the surface of the box office like a dead fish, with $123 million domestically and $433 million worldwide. In contrast, Aquaman netted $335M in the United States and $1.1B worldwide. The difference in dollars earned between both films is staggering, with multiple culprits to blame for the film’s failure, including wild on-set rumors, Amber Heard’s legal battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp, and DC jumping the gun on its plans to reboot the Dceu.
“Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all,...

‘Ordinary Angels’ Review: Hilary Swank’s Passionate Performance Drives True Faith Based Family Drama
Lionsgate’s collaboration with faith based movie producers Kingdom Story Company has reaped boxoffice rewards for both, and with their latest, Ordinary Angels, the inspiring true story of a small Kentucky town that comes together in a historic snowstorm in order to transport a 3-year-old girl to an Omaha hospital for a life-saving liver transplant, they have another surefire heartfelt film tailor-made for audiences looking for a little uplift. This actually would have made a perfect Christmas season release but has been delayed for several months, now opening in the same February corridor where Kingdom’s surprise hit, Jesus Revolution did well last year. Midwest crowds will especially respond to a never-say-never tale that is about bringing people together, not tearing them apart in this age of division.

Frank Grillo knows what he wants.
The erstwhile Crossbones of the MCU has crafted a niche for himself as a contemporary Charles Bronson over the last decade, parlaying mainstream buzz from projects like “The Purge 2” and Mma drama series “Warrior” into a string of superior indie action movies — even if he himself shies away from Bronson comparisons when speaking about his career.
“Not that I’m comparing myself to Charles Bronson, because I couldn’t,” Grillo told IndieWire during a recent interview over Zoom, adding with a laugh, “Charles Bronson never took his shirt off on a soap opera.”
With respect to Grillo, Bronson simply didn’t have the same range. Grillo emerged from a three-year run on “Guiding Light” in the late ’90s to a decade as a working actor before landing a juicy supporting role in the Liam Neeson-starring “The Grey.” Then came 2014 and his role...

In a recent interview, Studio Pierrot’s Managing Director, Kiero Itsumi, shed some light on the studio’s approach to handling the working conditions of its employees amidst the evolving landscape of anime production.
Animator’s poor working conditions had been in the spotlight as 2023 wound down, thanks to the insane production scheduling of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. However, based on Itsumi’s comments it seems that Pierrot has taken major steps to ensure that those working behind the scenes to deliver the final product are well rewarded and in a healthy environment.
The managing director began by noting that anime’s market has expanded, and that these days works of higher quality needed to be produced so that they could complete globally. This has also led to the increase in various costs.
While in the past, animators might have been expected to work with “grit and determination” in order to meet the higher qualities,...

Aquaman 2 Vs The Marvels Day 1 Box Office (North America) (Picture Credit: IMDb)
Finally, the much-awaited Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, aka Aquaman 2, has arrived at the North American box office. Ever since the projections made their way out, it was on the cards that the film was going to take a slower start. In isolation, the numbers looked decent, but considering the sequel factor, they were surprisingly low. Now let’s see how it fared in the domestic market on its day 1.
Directed by James Wan, the film is a sequel to Aquaman, released in 2018. It marks the end of Dceu (DC Extended Universe), and the future of the superhero headlined by Jason Momoa looks shabby in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s Dcu (DC Universe). While it arrived in the domestic market on Friday, it saw its early rollout in other markets.

It’s the most wonderful time of year, when movie studios release their big end of the year blockbuster films and their small prestige pictures vying for Oscar glory. Only problem is: this year Santa seems to be delivering a big lump of coal to the box office as the end of year box office relies heavily on a franchise that has completely crashed and burned throughout 2023.
That’s right, this year we don’t have any Avatar: The Way of Water or Spider-Man: No Way Home or Jumanji: the Next Level or Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. No, this years Holiday box office fate rides pretty heavily on the final film in the DC Extended Universe, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Granted, this is the DC film that has the biggest shot at success as the first film is the highest grossing DC film of all time with a worldwide take of $1.15 Billion.

Jason Momoa Once Revealed How He Didn’t Want Lisa Bonet To See Game Of Thrones Because Of His Hot Scenes With Emilia Clarke(Photo Credit –IMDb)
Jason Momoa is back for his one last ride as Aquaman in the Dceu with his Aquaman 2, aka Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Before becoming the Arthur Curry of the old DC Universe, he was known for his role in the cult series Game of Thrones. Its popularity knew no bounds, and Momoa as Khal Drogo is hands down one of the most significant roles in his career. The series was iconic not only for its storyline but also for its graphic, intimate scenes, and Jason had a few of them with the lead actress Emilia Clarke. The actor, however, was not keen on his then-wife Lisa Bonet, watching those hot love-making scenes.
Jason and Lisa met each other in 2005 at a jazz club.

Other films will premiere in theaters around the holidays, but so far, Robert De Niro’s mobster film Alto Knights and Lionsgate and Kingdom Story’s The Best Christmas Pageant Ever occupy the holiday stretch.

After the newest "Planet of the Apes" trilogy wrapped up in 2017 with director Matt Reeves' stunning, Biblical epic "War for the Planet of the Apes," fans were left with two pressing questions. One, why the heck wasn't Andy Serkis ever recognized by the Oscars for his genuinely award-worthy performance as Caesar? Secondly, would the actor ever return for future movies down the line, despite the fact that Caesar meets a heartbreaking but poignant end by the conclusion of the film? There's precedent within this franchise for actors once again taking the lead role in subsequent sequels as a different character, of course -- look no further than Roddy McDowall starring in the original "Planet of the Apes" and "Escape from the Planet of the Apes" as the chimpanzee Cornelius before coming back in "Conquest" and eventually "Battle" to play the role of Cornelius' son and Caesar.

Aquaman 2 Box Office Opening Weekend Projection (Picture Credit: IMDb)
Jason Momoa-led Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, aka Aquaman 2, is all set for a grand release this month, and box office enthusiasts are keeping a close eye on it. DC had a poor run in 2023 so far, and the studio will be hoping for a bounce back with this sequel to $1 billion+ grosser. So, will it be a game-changer for DC? Keep reading to know what early projection suggests!
Glory of the first installment
The first part was released in 2018, and upon its release, the film received decent reviews from critics. Riding on positive word-of-mouth, the biggie enjoyed a long theatrical run, and while it did far enough business in the domestic market, the overseas collection came as a big surprise.
In the long run, Aquaman raked in a staggering $1.152 billion at the worldwide box office, as per Box Office Mojo.
