Sex & Nudity

  • In season 2, a naked man is thrown out of a window. His genitals and buttocks are very briefly seen as he falls. Up until Season 3, this was the only instance of nudity in the series.
  • Seasons 1 and 2 only have some sexual references. Season 3 actually contains instances of nudity and sex and gets more graphic during the last 2 episodes.
  • Male genitals can be glimpsed briefly (roughly over a span of 10s). No female genitals.
  • Breast of a corpse can be seen in season 4 a couple of times. This is the only nudity in season 4

Violence & Gore

  • There is a scene where a man is whipped by a priest. After that, he graphically gouges out the priests eyes. Very gory and intense.
  • This show, despite being animated, is very brutally violent. It's filled with extreme violence, showing gruesome eviscerations and mutilation of all sorts, often resulting in characters being reduced to bloody piles of limbs and guts, as well as lots of bloodshed and disturbing imagery.
  • A bloodied Baby is shown in a demons mouth
  • A man has a bladed leather strap wrapped around his head and is then whipped off, tearing his face off. Though brief, the animation is detailed and its VERY graphic
  • A bishop is gorily chewed up by a demon who calls him out for his atrocities. We see tons of blood pouring out into the ground and from the demon's mouth. Very graphic and bloody.
  • A vampire woman clad in heavy armor and armed with a massive sword (a clear reference to the manga "Berserk") hacks apart through an army of peasants. We see her mercilessly slaughtering the villagers with absolute ferocity, with tons and tons of blood and gore spraying and splattering everywhere as we also see organs flying out in all directions as well. This is EXTREMELY bloody and graphic.
  • Trevor Belmont brutally kills and mutilates a lot of corrupt priests in Season 1, e.g. using his whip to rip out a priest's eye cleanly with much blood, impaling another with a spear, cutting off other's arm, and throwing various knives into the hands of various attackers with very bloody results. Very graphic.
  • The show gets more and more violent as it progresses, with season 4 being the most brutal.
  • Very strong bloody and graphic violence throughout.
  • Intense with gory bloody violence. A character is burned at the stake, and while not overly graphic, it is emotional - the charred body is seen later. Demons visibly disembowel and claw at "innocent" villagers. You see body parts and severed limbs lying around. Sky rains blood, Heads on sticks, intestines wrapped around a pole, people wake up to family members murdered in their homes (you see mutilated corpses). Corpses piled up from those killed by demons. Guy pukes. Man "whips off" a man's finger and eye. Monster gets stabbed in eye. People shot with arrows including the face, limbs lopped off with swords. Man graphically stabbed by numerous blades and a pitchfork. Demons are dismembered and explode. Sword fighting.

Profanity

  • A woman calls after a man and he responds, "I'm not interested in fucking you!"
  • Numerous uses of fuck. Words like piss, shit, bastards are also used. Character tells a story about a man who "fucks goats". Man curses at other men wishing they would "bleed out through their asses".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One of the main characters is an alcoholic and frequently consumes large amounts of ale.
  • Characters socially drink in a bar, one man "chugs" ale to calm his nerves. Another man claims he's sober

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The violence can be very disturbing.
  • The show as a whole has a very dark and depressing tone.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Season 3 adds the sex element to the show. Trevor and Sypha are seen in a sexual relationship throughout the season. The final 2-3 episodes add fairly graphic sex scenes. Alucard has a threesome with the Japanese siblings who are part of this season. Hector is shown to have sex with the vampire Lenore. Breasts are seen multiple times, as well as pubic hair. What appears to be a penis is also briefly seen.

Violence & Gore

  • It is found out that the Judge is responsible for the deaths of multiple children in his town. He lures them to a trap of his, where they fall down and get pierced by sharp wooden spikes. While this is not shown, Trevor and Sypha find the children's shoes, which the Judge has been collecting from their remains from the pit.
  • The population of an entire town gets graphically incinerated off-screen once night strikes. It's quite disturbing.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The Bishop is a complete and utter monster, being an overzealous psychopath who kills Lisa for fun and tries to take over Wallachia, making him responsible for all the misery that happens in the show. His actions are absolutely horrific, and it's what makes his death especially satisfying.
  • Dracula's death is extremely emotional and sad despite him being the main antagonist of the series, and it's entirely played for tragedy.
  • A major character, Lenore, commits suicide in the first 10 minutes of the series finale due to depression and giving up on life. The person who was with her during that scene, Hector, doesn't do anything to prevent her death, instead thinking she'll be "free". Lenore then exposes herself to the sunlight and disintegrates into dust. This is very sad and powerful.
