Once again, a storyline with someone with a chronic disease. In this case it's type 1 diabetes, aka juvenile diabetes. On several occasions this teen is in desperate need of insulin. Except in very unusual circumstances, such as a type 1 diabetic just consuming some food with rapid sugar intake such as orange juice or some other high sugar or fructose corn syrup, would any diabetic be in desperate need of insulin! That being said, if a diabetic was just injected with fast acting insulin; i.e., regular insulin, it would be paramount the person consume food promptly, maybe even orange juice, Mountain Dew, or even regular sugar.
If a diabetic goes without insulin for a long enough time, the individual could go into diabetic coma; however except in very rare cases this is unlikely. Diabetics know their bodies well, likely better than the rest of the population and thus would know what to do when insulin is not available.
All diabetics have a chronic disease requiring some lifestyle adjustments; however they are NOT totally stupid!
