Why is Floki Scenes are Exist?
cbatukilic27 January 2021
Don't get me wrong. Floki is my second favorite after Ragnar. He was so amazing in first 4 seasons. But... but... why is he even exist in this season? Why? Floki, with Ragnar, he was the face of this series. Even when I wasn't watching the show, if someone talking about Vikings, first image is in my mind was Ragnar and Floki together. But now... The most interesting character in the series is ruined. Give that man an axe, make him to make ships and send to Bjorn's side...

decent but what on earth have they done to Ivar
memereview2210 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Ivar the Boneless was referenced to Hitler in this episode very obviously. WTH. Yes he wants to be feared but ffs they really had to put banners up (Looking very similar to Nazi banners) and tell the whole story about if you know anyone that whispers bad things about me even if there your family bring them forward. Obviously this is dramatised and not real history but that is s**t.

The Mad Queen and The Powerless Leader
claudio_carvalho17 January 2019
In Wessex, Alfred learns that his brother died and later Judith tells him that she poisoned her son Aethelred. Alfred wants to lead his army, but Ubbe tries to persuade him to command the Saxon army instead. In Iceland, Floki witnesses what he has built with his madness and a family is slaughtered in a betrayal.

"The Most Terrible Thing" is the weakest episode of "Vikings" so far. Judith turned into a mad queen in a pointless attitude. The terrible segment about Floki and his settlers in Iceland has become stupid and the intention is this storyline is to be a filler in this series. Floki now is a powerless leader and could die and end this annoying segment. My vote is seven.

More of Floki's Jonestown, with someone in iceland doing what we all would do to get out of that narrative; Ivar's attrocious acting, Bjorn the lovelorn. WTF?
VoyagerMN198611 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Well friends, just when you are thinking: 'how far can our once, if not Shakespeare, passable acting and lots of fun series fall' -- it falls even more.

Not sure where we are going to go with Iceland. Really that last death there was supposed to be tragic or heartbreaking? Compared to what? Staying in that squalor of starvation? vengeance cycles that make Sicilian vendettas seam pale? or worst of all being stuck in a narrative cycle that feels like it was written by a five year old?

I think that poor Icelandic girl's death there is unintentionally ironic portrayal of how badly we ALL want to get ourselves and one of the few people who can act, Floki portrayer, OUT -- PLEASE god, OUT of Iceland.

The drama and murder at Alfred's court is even worse. Seriously, Alfred could be representing the viewer too in the tantrum. In his vase because of his brothers murder, in our case because of how tropey that was handled.

Then we get Bjorn and besotted Harold's love triangle with some woman who has demonstrated zero reason to be a compelling prize. Does she have land? no. riches? No. A title and inheritance? no. A good conniving mind for a power struggle? no. Young enough to bear a bunch of children? Doubtful. Is she even loyal? Nope. Exactly why would either of our Viking leaders want her or be whining about it at all?

And of course we have to be treated to Kattagatand and an actor playing Ivar who can't act for his life. A dozen actors who can act (ok a half dozen), in the show and we have to sit though this wild eyed loser? His brother is worse for not just killing him. I mean please!

None of us went into this expecting top quality drama. the show is fun with some decent intrepid exploring, raiding, a couple of decently done set piece battles per season, yes some good looking people. sure it has a completely bogus portrayal of women as fighters (the peer reviewed history says NO such thing at all). It has plot holes galore. But it was not until this season insulting to the audience. Yet now it is

Used to like this show....gone south since Ragnar died

Warning: Spoilers
So, now King Alfred is a cucked little boy and by his own mom of all people. It's embarrassing to even watch lol. Nothing left to say here.

Ivar's a total power mad lunatic and his brother didn't see it coming. Right. What else is coming.... I can't imagine the show will last much longer at this pace. Oh well, at least there's other TV programming out there. Waiting for the "your review is too short" to go away. Clearly, they like a lot of content, even if the show doesn't merit it.

No more narration, please!
ed-2681112 January 2019
I don't know why they insisted on having the narrator reading what was happening, but it's really quite tiring and distracting. Please, no more narration, just have the show without it, as normal!

Consistently brilliant

Vikings remains essential viewing. The Icelandic scenes were as harrowing and as gripping as anything in the series. Full marks to everyone involved in this great show.

A fresh humanistic take on the people of Viking
ngoctansq26 January 2019
This episode is what historical drama about. The endless power struggle have lasted 5 episodes, starting with a young Ragnar dream of the new world and now his existentialism legacy where mind, heart and sexual desire interwined and collided. Watching through the episode feels like sailing through the terror of the night of human darkness and waking up to a morning full of heart, from love, even as victim.

Definitely will make conventional viewers of Vikings uneasy, like the way Bjorn is in his truthful moment.

Getting worse with each episode
Hassel51212 January 2019
Used to love this show. Will conclude next year with season 6. Just hope by the end of this season the Floki subplot will be over once and for all! Why is Ivar still alive? When those 2 will be out of the picture we might get a good last season 6.

The Vikings Soap Opera! How did we come to this point? Let me count the ways to boredom.
Bababooe10 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
1, Floki in Iceland still tripping with a bunch of losers. Last episode, one of the outcast comes back for help. So they go to help. They killed them all. Putting their heads on posts. The post shot was good. Floki does his best to look upset. That helps the viewing. Then they tell the girl who married into the killer's family that her parents and relatives were all killed. Good job from the actress. She then throws herself off the cliff as Floke watches. Good shot. Actors all did well. Even the dummy heads. The problem is, what is the point of all this? If you don't have an answer then join the club.

2, England. Jud tells Alf the Non-Actor that she killed his brother Aeth. Best part of last episode was when Aeth crashed his head on the table before collapsing. Alf the Non-Actors pulls a Kylo Ren. I'm sure if Alf had a lightsabter he would have trashed this room even more, and possible ripped Jud in half. It's like a drunken rock band destroying a hotel room and throwing the tv out the window. Alf upends the table. Is that the same table that Aeth ate his last supper? Throws some chairs around. And sulks. This is Alf the Great? Jud tells Alf the Non-Actor that kings have to do ruthless things. Yes, Jud tries. We know because in the glory days of the Vikings we've seen Jud act. But the material here is garbage. We later see Alf appoint Ubbe and Torvi to lead his army against 300 Viking ships from Ireland. Ok. Did we miss something. This show is called Vikings, but we haven't seen any Vikings in Ireland or Scotland, but have spent a whole lot of time on nonsense soap opera with Lag and Heat, Alf and Aeth with wives, Bjoke with multiple women. Ivar the Terrible Actor with his wife. Who the hell are these "Vikings" from Ireland? It would be nice to know. Don't you think?

3, Ivar the Terrible Actor. Unlike Alf the Non-Actor, Ivar the Terrible Actor actually tries, but it comes off as shouts and silly eye movements. Bad for character, and bad for actor. He thinks he's a god. Tells his people to spy on their neighbors and relatives. Big Brother is watching you. He considers killing his brother Hvit. His wife stops him. She actually has some intelligence. Ivar is confused and stupid. Hvit is now full on playing with dolls and candles, worshipping Buddha, and hanging with his woman. Ivar comes in, (don't they have locks in their homes?), and gives Hvit an offer he can't refuse, leave town to be an ambassador with Ivar's allies, or he will kill Hvit's woman. I don't know where all this is going. So far this is going nowhere.

4, Bjoke and Gunn hanging with Harold in York, getting ready to attack Ivar. Soap time at the Vikings Norther England Holiday Spot. Bjoke, what happened to you? We have to witness Bjoke cutting a deal with Harold regarding attacking Ivar and giving Gunn to Harold. Then we have to witness Bjoke telling Gunn, wearing an elegant womanly outfit, that he loves her. I am not convinced. It doesn't work.

The main problem is with the writing. We have multiple threads with below the barrel scenes. The acting is mostly crap to mediocre. This time around the best acting was in Flokiland. But the story is garbage. England, to endure Alf's acting is a chore. Ubbe and Torvi are sidelined. Lag beamed up to the Enterprise. Ivar's acting is horrible. The only way to sit through this is to laugh. It can't be taken seriously. Bjoke? What is going on. We are left with supporting actors and extras in lead rolls.

RUINED SEASON, BORING FLOKILAND AND IVAR AND ETC ETC ETC
Really, every single person I know used to LOVE this show. It has been ruined with this boring season and infinite loop of boring and pointless subplots just wasting episodes and time.

The subplots are so terrible that we don't care if Floki dies or rises to Valhalla alive or goes to England. Just get over with them all!

Ivar still there? THAT'S BORING.

Lagartha missing? OH WOW! AMAZING! So what? (and I love her!)

In a scale of 1-100, it is a 4 in comparison to Seasons 1-3.

Gawd, I LOVED this show. Kill Ivar. Bring back Ragnar and have him kill Ivar and Harald. How did you go from one of the most amazing shows, ever, and end up with this mess?

Used to Love This Show
texbard22 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Almost quit watching after Ragnar died, but as Lagertha rose to power, it became more and more interesting. Now, she's disappeared after mourning the death of her priest lover (total character assassination). I watch now, hoping for three things: Lagertha's return and hopefully as the powerful Viking shieldmaiden and warrior she once was. End the boring, tedious, pointless Floki in Iceland plot line. And for the love of Odin, kill off Ivar. His story has been boring, uninteresting and unbelievable for over two seasons. Someone, anyone, please, please kill him already! This show has become utter cr**. I will finish season 5, but if 6 doesn't show vast change, I'm done.

The Most Terrible thing is ...
shellbojko20 October 2020
Whoever is in charge of casting the actors. The actress who plays Judith is shockingly bad, I remember the scene when she had her ear cut off and she was horrendous in it, it seems she's just getting worse. And let's not start with the actor who plays Ivar, I could pick his teeth out of a line up. Bring back Ragnar and Rollo. And how could one person hold Floki back?? He didn't even try to fight. Absolute rubbish.

Behave yourself Flóki!
paperboy51515 February 2020
How couldn't Flóki the warrior of the years stop these people? Why did a warrior who fought with Ragnar and his sons in many wars try not to pick up his ax and stop them?

This is like Uyghurs losing their warrior features after choosing Islam.
