Misogyny at heights - Extremely poor sequel to a classic
harineem-209-52548831 December 2021
Manal Kayiru is a movie that can be watched multiple times due to the relevance of the story and the fantastic set of actors Visu, Kishmu ,S Ve Sekar, Manorama and Shanthi Krishna. The movie shows the unreasonable demands made by bridegrooms in a male chauvinistic society in a comical way. The film was relevant for the times.

This movie which was clearly made as a vehicle for S Ve Sekar's son is completely one-sided and misogynistic in every possible way. The 3 points are for S Ve Sekar who is funny in every scene he appears in a otherwise pathetic movie. The Hero lies to marry the Heroine but is unrepentant throughout and all the characters in the film blame the heroine for not being accepting of such a guy because she is married and culture etc. Visu was always misogynistic in his movies where the working woman was always evil and the bad men in his movies never have a mind of their own and act only because of a evil wife. He continues his foolish one-sided dialogues in this movie too. Ashwin does not have screen presence nor acting skills for the movie. Not one comedy sequence with him works and his love scenes are cringe worthy.
