What'd I miss?

I love "Adventure Time" and it's been so long since I've reviewed, much less seen, a new episode. It was so strange because Cartoon Network barely marketed new episodes at all and they're usually good about it. I had no idea there was a whole week of new episodes. Now I feel like I'm way behind and have no clue why there's a green plant version of Finn named Fern. Well, I caught a glimpse of some new episodes, but they didn't tell me much. Aww, Finn lost his arm again and now he has a robot arm! Anyway, this episode was still the start of a new series of episodes and I'm so impressed at how they're doing eight part ones!

So this episode features a ship coming out of the ocean looking for Finn or less specifically a human. The characters discover which island it came from and decide to journey by boat. Hopefully they can find some remaining humans there. I just love seeing Princess Bubblegum and Marceline telling Finn goodbye. I just like to see Marceline with a big ol' umbrella. I really like how casual they are with everything. It's just nice to see all these characters in a new environment after being away so long. The animation really comes off as cute here. Maybe it's because I just finished reading the Complete Peanuts comics and am reminded of those dot eyes. ***1/2

An episode to put the "adventure" in Adventure Time

This episode is amazing from the very beginning. The opening, adapted for the miniseries "Islands", has amazing visuals, great narrative and awesome humor, elements that keep on going throughout this episode, which was a really big one for the series.

This is such a rad mission for tons of reasons. Not only is an important quest for Finn, but possibly the most dangerous one he had face in his life so far. I'm stoked to know more about his past and I'm stoked for him learning more about his past.

Besides this amazing quest, the humor was ON POINT, some really good laughs and REALLY creative jokes that were well balanced with some touching moments. This show is so funny that sometimes I forget how deep the relations between these characters are.

As a big otaku, I felt more like I was watching an anime adventure rather than a 11 minute cartoon episode. Looking forward to see our beloved shonen hero growing up and beating some baka villains. Things are about to get real here!
