A must see!

What a wonderful way to portray the lives of people who are faced with an unbelievable reality. It is warm, compelling, fun, and a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours. The tough decisions, family love, challenges and daily life of these Americans is beautifully believable. It is a story that needs to be shared and re-shared for years to come.

Should be required viewing in all schools!

This topic is important for all Americans to be aware of. We interred our own citizens simply because of where they or their ancestors were born. Watching this play or movie (hopefully it will be on DVD some day!) bring the issue to life. It's not a paragraph in a boring history book. It's real, it's tangible. My 14-year-old cried. Please show this to your children.

Amazing, human portrayal

When I first heard of setting the story of Japanese Internment Camps as a musical, I was skeptical. I was wrong. This is one of the most moving, loving, fulfilling musicals I have ever seen. I was moved to tears more than once because the human story is presented here. I am thrilled to be a witness to the success of Allegiance as it moved from conception to fruition. Thank you so much, George Takei, for your courage, your advocacy, and your life.

A real must-see!

I loved this movie! It made me laugh, it made me cry, parts of it made me so angry! This is a story that everyone should see. We need to make sure that it never happens again! The acting was excellent. The songs were very moving. As soon as it was over, I wanted to see it again. I want to take my grandchildren to see it.

Amazing that we aren't taught about this

I saw Allegiance the first time it was released to theatres. Such a powerful movie. There was humor, beautiful songs, and I cried more than a few tears. Allegiance portrays so many aspects of what happened to Japanese-Americans during World War II that we never learned about in school. It should become a unit of study in American History in every school. I'm extremely glad George decided to bring Allegiance to life. Society must learns from horrible actions like these or they will happen again in subsequent generations.

A show that every American should see!

Allegiance tells the story of Japanese-Americans who were removed from their homes and taken to internment camps across the United States, simply because they looked like the people who had bombed Pearl Harbor. Fear and paranoia drove feelings in that time and led to an action that is now seen as shameful. I pray that cooler minds prevail nowadays, so that this atrocity is not repeated.

Yet another liberal progressive doco

Nice story but it was exploited for liberal progressive agenda. Art house at its best or worst - depending how you think or feel.
