Exclusive: Skydance Sports has closed a deal with Gary Ross to rewrite and direct Old Time Hockey, from an original screenplay written by Kevin Jakubowski. The film will be produced by Skydance Sports and Jeremy Latcham.
The original screenplay is set in the rust belt of Pennsylvania involving a high school hockey rivalry from the mid-’90s that gets re-kindled 25 years later.
Ross is no stranger to uplifting sports movies as he directed and wrote the hit horse racing pic Seabiscuit, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. The four-time Oscar nominee has made a career out of writing and directing hit pics that include Pleasantville, The Hunger Games, and most recently Ocean’s 8 starring Sandra Bullock.
Jakubowski wrote the Black List feature screenplay 8-Bit Christmas which received both a PGA Award and Humanitas Prize nomination. His other credits include the screenplay for Assassination of a High School President,...

Adrian Peng Correia admits that taking over as cinematographer for the second season of “Glow” was “an interesting conflict.” On the one hand, you have to “honor something that has already been done for the first season.” On the other hand, you have to “express yourself with camera in a different way.” Correia spoke about his work at Gold Derby’s Meet the Experts Btl panel, hosted by managing editor Chris Beachum. The event took place on Thursday, May 30, at the Landmark Theater in Los Angeles. Watch our exclusive video interview with Correia above.

Mark Wahlberg, Connie Britton, and Reid Miller (Play by Play) have signed on to the drama Good Joe Bell. The Oregon-set film will tell the true story of “father Joe Bell (Wahlberg) who sets out on a walk across America with his son, Jadin (Miller).”
The movie will be directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (Monsters and Men) with a screenplay by the Oscar-winning writers of Brokeback Mountain, Diana Ossana and Larry McMurtry. Wahlberg is producing alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.
I’m not sure of all the details of this story, but it sounds like it will be really touching. Good Joe Bell is currently in pre-production and is scheduled to come to theaters in 2020. Does this sound like a film you’d like to see?
