Probably for the fans but refreshingly different
pauljonze4 May 2017
I'm probably a psycho, weirdo, loner or whatever but I enjoyed this. Maria Bamford's comedy focuses on mental health issues so it's probably an acquired taste anyway and I don't think the humour could work unless you can associate with the 'stream of thought' she's in.

The show goes from her performing her routine alone in the mirror to a full theater audience (well partially), which made me feel like I shared a personal journey, well sort of, not sure if that was the intention - or if it matters really. I'm also a fan of 'Lady Dynamite' too so that may influence my opinion.

Ten years ago Christopher Hitchins famously said women 'aren't funny' but don't think he'd seen Maria Bamford perform.

Too Weird
dougmacdonaldburr2 May 2017
Too weird for me. Lots of strange voices, movements and gestures. The jokes aren't that good and the audience laughing seems forced. It is also quite creepy sometimes. That might be intentional, but, it is not what I'm looking for in a comedy show. I give it 3, because, it is put together in quite an original way. I have seen worse, but, it's not good.

I freaking love Maria Bamford

This comedy special is rapid fire, bizarre, so relatable, entertaining, refreshing and wonderfully weird. Maria Bamford has an amazing gift for smart quirky comedy and impressions She can whip from one topic to another with amazing speed and intelligence. It doesn't let up for even a second and it is a wildly entertaining ride! Maria Bamford speaks right to my soul. Go watch it right now!

Definitely not funny

Literally just not funny. She never made a joke the entire special. She'll just stands on the stage and says weird stuff the entire time.

Very low quality "entertainment".

Would not recommend.

Hit and Miss....Mainly Hits.

Old Baby is an interesting way to watch a stand-up routine. There are moments when her bits don't land with me....or the audience, however, it's surprisingly fun to watch her relish those awkward moments.

I had a smile on my face throughout most of this special and there were multiple times where I was laughing, pretty uncontrollably.

It's not for everyone however, it is for me.

If you're an on-and-off fan, don't watch this.

I was an on-and-off fan of Maria Bamford; she scared me and made me laugh, that was the intrigue. And I love surreal humor...so for the most part, I liked her. This special, however, was too much. She does a lot of rambling, a lot of voices, a lot of faces/noises...and being a big kid, I like faces/noises, but in this one it just seems like a load of everything dumped on the floor all at once. Maybe it's also Netflix's hour limit, she felt like she had to get it all in, but excuses aside, I really felt like turning it off. I stuck it out though, and the ending wasn't too thrilling either.

If you're on-the-fence about Maria, don't watch this because you'll probably end up not liking her, which would be a shame; she is pretty funny, but just not in this special.

This is as funny as an autopsy… as graphic and as funny as I would imagine a public beheading to be.This special made me want to spend the entire day outside. She represents everything that America has to flush down the toilet in the morning. This is not humor, its more like sacrificing your brain.

First is the The "teenage attention span" ADHD editing. The concert footage is heavily mixed with video clips that were running on big screens on stage. Most of the time the sound does not match the picture. You can clearly see Madonna's lips don't sync with the sound. And that's not only because of overly artistic editing. It's also because the sound is not form that visuals: Second, the sound is for the most part is not from the concert. It's obviously not live recording which is especially evident by Madonna's vocals. Only some slower songs retain the original vocals. So this is not a concert video because it does not have concert sound, no atmosphere, you can't watch it as a concert because of the cuts every 1-2 seconds. Why watch this? If you want to watch music videos you will be better watching Madonna's music videos for songs in album. If you want to watch the show itself you can find much better "pirated" videos from the tour on Youtube. Overall, if pirated concert videos on Youtube represent the show better than your movie, you've done it wrong.

warning crazy

She could have been forgiven for her politics if only she was creative and funny. Ben Elton is a good example of this. He's fanatically left- wing AND he makes me laugh. Also - he doesn't hector and insult everyone who disagrees with him.

This 'special' has been presented by someone who has been told that she's funny so many times that she's fallen for it. It's like the chubby girl who has been told by her parents that the peach dress she's wearing looks great - and then when she wears it outside, still stubbornly believes that it looks great because her mum and dad are right and the rest of the world must be blind or something!

she is unfunny
siasksaksa23 June 2017
Wow! Not only is she not funny, her "comedy" is just gross. Don't take my word for it, watch it yourself. As a matter of fact, see how long you can last before turning it off. I saw the reviews but gave her the benefit of the doubt and watched it myself. All I can say is, if talking about your genitals and being black out drunk were an Olympic sport, her last name would be Jenner.

unfunny
direitoalice22 June 2017
It's hard to tell if the totally unfunny, boring, overlong material of latest act is just an anomaly, or if talented, edgy is no more. This was awful. I really wanted to like l. I think Amy Schumer is funny, having seen her previous stand up acts and that Bill Hader movie. She told clever jokes. The Leather Special has no jokes. I didn't laugh once. My wife didn't laugh once. describes gross subjects while making gross faces. That's it. That's the whole special - or I assume it is. I quit watching with about fifteen minutes left, but I saw enough to be assured that it wasn't going to get any more funny. I'm not making fun of her weight because being heavy doesn't matter in comedy, but I think her appearance merits a mention. She wears a smallish, tight leather dress that along with a bad hairdo choice and horrible make-up creates an unflattering, swollen look that is a negative distraction. I don't think an entertainer's political views matter, so I don't hold it against them, but political comedy tends to be tedious at best. Schumer is politically active, which is her business. I appreciate that she didn't overload this act with politics - some, not much. Two out of ten if for nothing more than a star's worth of encouragement for funny to come back.
