Great episode, it where's the episode that shows Sid being arrested in the first place?

A Bitter-Sweet Reunion
lindseys-2176611 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is my third favorite Father Brown episode, after The Kembelford Boggart and The Tree of Truth. It truly is a bitter-sweet reunion, with my favorite character, Sid, coming home after a year of undeserved prison. Though I rejoiced in seeing my dear Sidney again, it made me realize that with Bunty filling in for both Felicia and Sid, there wasn't a comfortable place for my favorite character to fit back in-so they sent him off. Though he does return occasionally (like in The Tree of Truth), Sid's absence leaves a gaping hole that I feel is not acknowledged enough. This episode does not, I feel, do an adequate job of convincing me that Sid would really leave. Father Brown even reveals, "You are the closest thing I have to a son." Who would leave their best friends for travel they can't afford? (He really went back to Felicia for work, I think.) In conclusion, it was a masterpiece-except that it left me wondering about Sid. I definitely recommend this episode.

Sid Vicious

Warning: Spoilers
The Sins of Others isn't your typical Father Brown episode, as it is a mediation on vengeance, justice and of course Sid Carter. Sid returns after mysteriously leaving, and this episode provides a bit of a back-story which could have been convoluted in explaining Sid's arrest and redemption with the help of Father Brown at the end of the day.

Anyway, Sid is let down by his defense lawyer who ends up becoming a judge, and it's not all pretty as the family get involved. Anyway, I'm enjoying catching up on the early seasons of Father Brown and also Magnum, P. I. and Law and Order for daytime TV viewing.

The return of Sid.
Sleepin_Dragon22 March 2018
The Sins of others stands as one of the best episodes of Father Brown, it is 45 minutes of brilliant drama.

The much missed Alex Price makes a welcome return as Sid, an integral part of the show. He gets a great back story, and returns with a superb story. I've been slightly critical of several episodes which have been a little overly light hearted, verging on being silly, no such issues here, this story lacked any humour, no peeping over hedges or gimmicks, just plain grown up drama.

Excellent characters, beautifully written, exceptionally performed, especially Susie Trayling and Simon Shepherd. Also one of Mark Williams's finest moments, his scenes with Sid were excellent.

One of the very best, this was exceptional.

Truly the best episode

Warning: Spoilers
Although there are great moments in many of the Father Brown episodes, this one contains the best moments of all. It's truly personal this time, as we get to see the depth of feeling that the characters actually have for each other, particularly Father Brown and Sid. We are tipped off when we see the engraved watch with the inscription from Father Brown early in the episode, but the full feelings don't emerge until the dramatic confrontation with the handgun and Father Brown confesses that Sid is "the closest thing I ever had to a son." It's priceless. Then, the goodbye scene with the confession regarding the pawned watch and Father Brown's so quick forgiveness followed by the giving of his own pocket watch . . . . true redemption. A masterpiece of story telling.

Another Amazing episode with Sid

Warning: Spoilers
Sid graces the viewers with his presence again this episode. He brings a fire to this episode different from his previous appearances in the series. After spending a year incarcerated he presents much more mature to his cohorts. He explains he will be leaving and this farewell is heartfelt by all the cast members present for the scene. A true gem.

The Sins of Others
Prismark1013 January 2017
Sid Carter's absence has been glaring especially with Lady Felicia also been written out of the series. The reality is that actor Alex Price has been busy in the theatre to do the new series.

Well it looks like Sid has been doing porridge for 12 months and he is not happy that his brief might had withheld crucial evidence at the trial. Sid confronts him at a party and the barrister is soon found dead with the finger of suspicion pointing at Sid.

Father Brown thinks that the victim of the assault was bribed to protect the real culprit and soon a man in a Panama hat is out to get Father Brown.

It was good to see Sid back, although he is far from his chirpy self in this one. With Lady Felicia being absent from the show and Bunty seamlessly slotting in, there is little space for him in the series.

It was a nice mystery, there were some slimy upper crust types and a well above average episode.
