Before starting the film, I knew it was low budget and independent. The story was more or less what we've seen before, but with the director's own twist to it. No complaints there. The acting, for the most part, was average to above average. Besides some scenes, no complaints there.
My complaints are with the camera. I think the compositions were great in most scenes, but the camera was very inconsistent and could tell each time a different camera was used. The use of colors, the sound, and again, the cinematography was fine.
All in all, it is independent and there is entertainment found in it. I enjoyed it for what it was

Excellent robbery/hostage situation film with an underlying agenda

This movie really kept my attention and reminded me of the classic 1975 Dog Day Afternoon with Al Pacino. A sensitive man robs a restaurant full of patrons with the secret assistance of his girlfriend who is the manager. But fate is against him as he bumbles pretty much everything due to not having experience in the robbery business. He is manipulated at every turn by his domineering love interest who has her own agenda. This slow burner is an on the edge of your seat parlay into narcissism and greed, and how someone can be easily led by someone who gaslights you and only has their manipulative needs and wants in mind. My favorite Chase Dudley film so far!

This film kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.
The writing was excellent!
Lara Jean Mummert brought life to the character and kept me hating her from the first look in the mirror until the final scream.
Another amazing performance was Sandra Holliger. She brought me into the room and made me care about what she was going through.
The rest of the cast were No less engaging.
This is a do not miss.

Good performances almost fell into a plot hole.

"Payday" features some fine performances, especially by Tory Beckham and Sandra Holliger. As with most low-budget indie films, there are issues with sound and lighting, but not enough that it detracts from the story, which is compelling and well told, overall. The biggest problem I had with the film is a rather large plot hole. Hopefully, my explanation will not function as a spoiler. At the beginning ,Ben, the lone robber, takes over a small diner, takes hostages at gunpoint, then forces the manager to get him the money from the safe, which is in the office. While Ben and the manager are retrieving the cash, NONE of the hostages make a break for it. There are several occasions later in the film where Ben is likewise too far from the diner patrons to prevent them from just leaving.Other than this flaw, the film is enjoyable, and cast and crew alike are to be commended.
Payday was interesting

I know all movies don't come with a good ending. I hated what happened at the end but maybe there's a sequel? I don't know. I know in real life not all good people have good things happen to them and not all bad people get what they deserve.
One thing that bothered me the most was as many times he was in the back and as long he was back there, any of them, ANY of them could of attempted to get away. Now a days you can't say no one will try to run away. People run away all the time in real life with situations like this not saying it's a good or bad idea but if it was me in this situation I would of bolted lol
I felt like there were a lot of fillers in the movie but I understand to make a feature you need the min time. Every movie or show have fillers, just felt there were a lot for one movie.
But overall I enjoyed it.

This Rollercoaster of a film had me suprised at every turn. The story keeps you wondering what will happen next.
Derek Babb did an amazing job of making you feel his emotions.
Lara Jean Sullivan, Bishop Stevens and Tiffani Fest along with the rest of the cast gave a captivating performance.
The way the film is shot throws you into the whirlwind that is Payday.
With a skilled cast and crew I highly recomend this movie and I definitely will watch this again.
