A vehicle's radiator cap should never be removed while the engine is still hot. One reason is obvious, the cap is hot and could burn the skin. Also, when the radiator is still hot, the water inside is under pressure. If the the cap is removed, the steam will shoot out, causing injury, especially if the vehicle is overheating.
