Please Don't Overstuff Finales

Warning: Spoilers
The Good Wife/Good Fight has top-notch writing. But as much as I enjoyed sitting back and re entering the legal world of the Michelle and Robert King with its familiar characters and heightened drama (anyone who's ever worked with lawyers or had dealings with court proceedings knows there are very few ticking time bombs like the Kings contrive. Legal resolution takes years. But I digress.

One holdover from The Good Wife they'd do well to avoid is the season finale that hurriedly, half-heartedly tries to tie up too many overarching loose ends while at the same time giving us a crisis of the week. The usual level of legal poetic license is blown to smithereens as we see Lucca arrested, which in no way would have happened, while the Milo character who conspired with the blackout bug is left off scot free (we assume to reappear in season 2 -- the writers do a great job in capturing his empty provocations)

Even crazier is when Lucca brings the flash drive to the DOJ and the boss inserts it into his office laptop without a moment's pause. Definitely never would have happened. All govt employees are given annual training on how NOT to do that very reckless thing -- call IT. And finally, I admire Diane's character and Lucca is fun to watch but if I have to spend 10 hours watching Maia (Rose Leslie) with that constipated grimace on her face next year ...

Excellent Series

Warning: Spoilers
This is an excellent series and quite as good as The Good Wife. The long theme is the Ponzi scheme which is consuming everyone slowly and there is a shorter issue in every episode. Welcome reprises are seen with old lags such as Colin Sweeney.

The series is so well written and acted that Henry Rindell's little tricks are no surprise - it would be expected from someone running a Ponzi. There is an excellent scene where Henry asks how many years his daughter will get for perjury. His lawyer looks at him wordlessly to ask if he were really ready to let his daughter go to the slammer. The twist in the end for Henry was no surprise.

Kurt McVeigh doing the right thing and getting no recognition nor reward is to be expected by an English viewer in the North of England. So overall an excellent end to the first of an excellent series

Do the Shortbus!

Warning: Spoilers
What a powerful season finale for the Good Fight. Ten episodes really flies, and I wasn't even bingeing (or binging?). Anyway, much has been written about Chaos, but I'm not sure if the writers had a sly wink in the plot line, but the return of Felix Staples and the Chicago power blackout reminded me of the power blackout towards the end of the movie Shortbus (not that I've seen it) which was directed by John Cameron Mitchell, who of course plays Felix! Talk about the six degrees of separation I guess. Mix that with apple pie and of course there's Jason Biggs, who appears in this season finale.

Chaos

Warning: Spoilers
The ending was pretty surprising. We thought it would wrap up nicely, but like The Good Wife before it we got a nice twist at the end of the season. We know next season will likely see the firm defending Henry, but it opens the door for a lot of great stories.

Glad to see the Jason Biggs character return, but turning him into a terrorist was too much. And bringing back the fake-Milo character was a mistake.
